  1. Goofy question I know, but my 100.4 just came in and I was admiring it... Tehn as I was looking at the lil knob that come with it, I had the thought that I don't normally adjust my gains or boosts after they are set... Also, I don't really have a place or want to mount 2 knobs up front on the TrailBlazer when I get my system in and if I ever do get the system in teh Blazer, I sure don't want 6+ more little knobs up front there...
  2. The reason why I was asking was I was concerned with not having enough space... hehehe I want to much, I want all the bass, but I do not want to give up my whole cargo area for the Audio system...
  3. Its been so long since I had a decent system and I feel like I never get anywhere... Its like I keep saving up and stockpiling parts, but shit keeps happening that I have to spend money elsewhere... I feel like I just plan plan plan, and beat a dead horse sometimes... But I want to make sure everything come out good... Even a small basic system can rack up a cost and load of time, if your doing it yourself... Also, once I get something in, I'm never satisfied... uhhh... OK, done venting..
  4. On the FI BTL 15" Fully Loaded, but for Daily/Music, Specs state 3cu to 5 cu tuned to I don't remember like 35hz... Whatever it is... This will be powered by a SAZ-2000D... Lets assume I have the electrial system to back it up... How much difference will I see between a 3 cu enclosure and a 5cu??? Not sure if it matters, but I am wanting to do Sub and vent facing up, vent furtherest to the rear.. I wish I could hear it both ways... Well I guess I could, but I don't want to spend the money on two enclosures...
  5. Drawing is no where to scale, I suck at teh scaling... Ports in grey... sorry crappy drwing I know... I'll have to play with some measuements, maybe able to go a bit wider to get more airspace... Right now I'm just tossing ideas around... When that other amp shows up, I'll take;em both out there and lay them in in for a test fit and see what space I have for the enclosure... I'm concernd about the heat too... I was thinking of adding a few small 12V cooling fans... I saw some low profile squirell cage fans I could do 1 or 2 pushing air then 1 or 2 pulling on the other side... I dunno... Gonna take a buncha test fitting... 98% of the time there will be no cargo in there.... But that 2% of the time I need some room for a few duffel bags for going to the cabin and some room for the goodies when I go to the gun range, monthly...
  6. Top part would be top view, bottom part would be view looking in from tailgate, so you can see my amp false floor idea and where I think I'd put the Battery/Yellow Box Click below for Full Size, biggert pic.... http://www.imagebam..../c3622659303421 Please excuse my drawing skills or lack of.... I used Visio, then saved it as a .jpg and u/led it real quick... Jay-cee, I think that size batt you quoted would/should work.... I'll have to take some more measurements and play around with box sizes... This may force me to step down to the 12" vs the 15"..
  7. Thanks for the replies... Yea I guess knowing a size would help you guys.. Its one of those things, that I don't really have a size... Just don't want something Huge, if I don't have too... I want to save as much cargo room as possible. but I also know you have to give up space to make bass too.. On Budget, I really don't have one... Whatever it takes... I mean I don't want to waste money and say, ohh a 1000.00, but then again, I don't want to cheap out and say 50.00s... I'll spend whatevers needed, within reason you know... I'll try to draw up a top view of my idea of how I want to lay out the cargo area to look nice when I show it to someone, but remain semi-stealthy as much as possible with a Sub enc and two amps... My idea is, facing/looking into the cargo area the left side would be an enclosure/battery box, the right side would be a false floor, with the two amps longways.. If I remeber right those amps are just under 3" tall... So, I'll be able to put a cover them and still put stuff in there when I need too... I want to stay under the window line too, actually under the cargo area cover line... So I can keep it more hidden... Lemme see if I can draw/post up something...
  8. So I'm slowly putting together a small system for my 2005 TrailBlazer, No SPL Comps, just want something thats really loud and sound really good... Would be nice if it threw up some impressive numbers... What I have in hand or on the way already: 2 - sets of Polk Audio MM6501s (got them last week) 1 - SAX-100.4D (just ordered it today) Should be here by Monday, maybe Sooner... No hurry though, need more stuff... 1 - SAZ-2000D (Had it for a few months for the Blazer, was gonna order 3 more for its redo, but I got the TrailBlazer, so I'm doing it 1st, then back to the Blazer) 3 Sets of Scoche RCA (Per Jacobs recomendation) Buncha wire and connecters and such.... Things to get: Sub, hmmm, I have not decided for sure... I was thinking about the 1 - FI BTL 15" Fully Loaded as they say, or maybe I should say Mostly Loaded, as I want the Daily Coil, not SPL as this is for music... I'm guessing about 2.5-3 cu feet @ what 35-36hz whatever it takes.... May consider back down from a 15 to a 12, to save on Encl Will consider other subs though... Headunit, I think I have it narrowed down to the Pioneer-AVH-P4100DVD (add ons, Ipod adapter and HD Tuner) Alarm, I guess Viper 5901 Responder LC3, Hoping to again try and go look at this this weekend, depending on what the wife and kid have me doing... Last weekend it was shopping and Basketball and Volleyball Games... Sheesh... So to the meat of the question; with the two amps listed above (1 drawing a max of about 200 or so amps and the other about 90 or so) I figured right off the bat, I'd do ""The Big 3" and 2 runs of 0/1 to the back and an exta Batt.... But what Batt to get???? I don't plan on parking and booming for more than a few minutes at a time and I'll mostly have the engine running, not like I used to do at Car shows... Size of the Batt is important for this as I do not want to use up the whole cargo area and I'm already looking at a decent size box, if I go with that 15" FI listed above... Sorry to make the above post so long winded, but I figured if I did not provide as many details as possible, thats what the 1st 3 or 4 replies would be asking for... Hopefully, it'll be a nice little system...
  9. Thanks for the info... I really dig getting info straight from the guys in the know on current and new products... ***Edit**
  10. Russia. Ahh, that explains the difficulty with English... Now maybe the guys will cut you some slack as its not your Native Language... The way I type sometimes, I don't have a very good mastery of the language either ... Welcome to the forum...
  11. Gotta ask, Where are you from???
  12. Seems like its size would make it a bit uncomfortable, but I don't see anything worth anyone giving you a hard time about.... Remember, this is the internet... You could post pics of the most laid out Italian Sports car or a German luxury ride and someone would have something to nit pic about... Or they really are trying to help... I say, just take your time and enjoy the project... If you don't like the way something come out and you have the time and money/Materials and a better game plane redo it... Looks pretty cool so far to me...
  13. So should I be safe with anything from Knuconcepts??? Or is there another brand you recomend?
  14. I hear ya man... I really do, but on this on wants an needs are a different story for this ride... Again, this one is my Daily... It also has to have WAF (Wife Approval Factor)... So I'll be lucky if I can give up the space/power/money for 1 15 Sub and 1 Set of Componets per each Front/Rear doors... Now My Blazer, that will be a different Story all together... With this thread I was just wanting to make sure that the Power I was planning, would decently push the MoMos... Yea, I'd love more power, but I gotta Draw the line somewhere... I'm just wanting to do a basic system here and with a quik really basic off the top of my head estimate I'm already well over 2K... 700 Headunit 300 Front Set MoMos 150 Rear Set MoMos, Buy 1 get one 1/2 off 365 4Ch Amp for Mid/Tweets 615 Sub amp 300 Sub 200 Wiring accessories 2630 Sub tot Thats no Deadener, no install if I have some of it done, no alarm... It'll take awhile just to get all this in... Once the dust settles then I might try to eeek in some Upgrades... Have you looked into buying used from Db-r for the amp? Ntt really, as I hate to buy used or refurbished electronics... I have in the past and had problems with it... Any cost savings were ate up in shipping the stuff back and fourth, time on the phone and pulling the gear out and putting it back in.... However, I may have to look into this again...
  15. Somewhere I saw a post or an article, I think by Jacob, that was telling about Sundown amps having issues with certian RCAs and working better with some... Can someone direct me to this article or info??? I did try the "Search" button, but got no love....
  16. What year T.B? Your setup sounds kinda like what I want... 1 4ch amp for my front/rear mids/highs, one sub amp, 1 15 sub... Any pics of that??? Last question, you said you had 5.25s in the rear... I'm hoping that was not because 6.5s would not fit... I just ordered my 2 sets of 6.5s or should I say 6.75s (a set for the front and a set for the rear)... Crutchfield has them buy one set get the second set 1/2 price... Of course they are a tad higher than some other places so I guess it evens out...
  17. Thanks man! I kinda dig'em... Now if I could just shrink down an Esclade front clip, It'd be on... Not to many Blazers done like that...
  18. I hear ya man... I really do, but on this on wants an needs are a different story for this ride... Again, this one is my Daily... It also has to have WAF (Wife Approval Factor)... 19. For sure on the deadener... On my Blazer, I put it on the door itself, then I put a layer on the back of the Door Pannel where I could thinking it might help a bit more... Mighta been overkill, but too much is better than not enough in this case...
  20. And those Polks should fit in the front and Back doors of the Trail Blazer??? After doing some further reading, I think the front doors take 6.5s, no idea about the rear... The concern was, going on the thought that the T.B. does take 6.5s front and rear... Cut frm Crutchfield site: ""Polk describes this model as a 6-1/2" speaker. Most manufacturers designate this same frame size as a 6-3/4" speaker. For simplicity's sake we list it as a 6-3/4" speaker."" Just want to make sure they are going to fit....
  21. Last mostly completed System was in my 2000 Blazer... I had Kenwood DVD Head Unit 910-DVD or something (Single Din No Screen), still have it.. Two Smaller Hifonics Amps power pairs of Eclipse "Point Source" strange (Components, but the tweets were made on the center of the mid like a co/ax) Hifonics Zeus (older model, When Zeus was a model, not one of their lines) pushing 3 JL12W6s in a Sealed Box (bit to small and under powered in my opinion) 3 Optima Yellow tops in the back 1 Red Top in the front Big 3 All Phoenix Gold Wiring and accessories (power and signal) Dynamat deadener Several LCDs in the Visors, in the Back Xbox Radio Shack Ausio/Video Switcher for switching video sources, etc... Here is a pic of the box... Sounded great Musically, jsut not loud enough, so I ripped it out and sold most of it off.. Decided I wanted more BASS... Still wanted Good Music, but more Louder and more BASS, so I bought a Buncha RE subs and Componets and never got it back together as thats when I got married, go into the house, working 60+ hours a week and all kinds of other crap... I did put one of the 12s in a Temp box for a bit, just to have something to listen too... But like I said never finished it... Still plan to and was starting to ramp that back up, but I picked up the TrailBlazer and now I'm really sidetracked with doing a small daily type system for it... Man, Its a sickness...
  22. I can certianly see your points... Sucks as I've been kinda out of the industry for abit and have no real way to tell about a shop... Every shop I go to is bound to tell me they are the best... I've Hauled off and got married, re-modeled a house, few other family projects, and done a ton of things to take me out of the Custm Car/Car Audio world... So, I no longer have the same Car Audio circle connections I used to have and most of the people I now associate with think stereos are cool, but are not going to spend any money on it.. Over the last few years I've tried to keep up, but I've slowly sliped away.. ... I'm still sad that all the "True" Car Audio Mags are dead and gone... I'll have to go visit a few shops and see whats doin... Thanks for the reply...
  23. As I posted on another section I got a new (to me) Daily Driver... Its a 2005 Chevy Trail Blazer... Cliff Notes: Before I haul off and put a few K into an audio system, I kinda want to get a really good Alarm... What Systems are the Best and Why??? What Systems are are POS and Why??? I'm trying to do alot of reading and researching on this to make sure I make a good descision.. My concerns are the Alarm being a POS and the install being a POS... The reason, my last two Alarms were DEI - Viper systems and I had several issues with them... Long Story if you wanna Read the whole Novel: The 1st (a low end unit, probably a dealer add on) came on my 1996 GMC Sonoma, Ex Cab, when I bought it... It fried or something and left me stranded in a lot... After checking every fuse and connection I could find and making a few phone calls, I finally, just unplugged the big wiring harness that goes in each side of the brain and it started and drove fine no problems, cept no more crappy alarm... Second was a higher end Viper on my 2000 Blazer thats my play around vehicle mostly used for crusing and car shows... I can't remember the model, but it was the one that has the two way remotes that have the LCD of a truck and shows it running (via autostart), shows shock senser, Glass Break Senser, what Zone was tripped, etc... I had about every option too... Three back up sirens each with Backup Batts, a hidden back up bat for the brain, Interior Pain Generator (damn that thing was LOUD) and anything else they had to add on at the time... This thing was problems from the start, The batteries in the remote only lasted a week or so, not long after I had it I discovered that everytime I used the Autostart, it caused problems with the transmission and shifting out of 1st, till I let it sit for awhile, and turned it off and on a few times it would straighen up... The I had problems with the lights and locks... It goes on and on..... I tried to take it back to the plae that did it, but it had been like 3 months and while I was in the process of fighting with them, they up and closed their doors... Outta Business... So, I'm a bit shy on spending good money on a alarm and having it give me a ton of headache... There are so many wires and the newwer vehicles are so F'in complicated.... Gives me pimples... Cause when you have problems, What do you do? The Car Dealer will Blame it on the Alarm Dealer while But Raping you and not fixing it, the Alarm Dealer will just Blame it on the Car Dealer while you are just ass out stuck... OK, Enough of my ranting... Back to Business... What Systems are the Best and Why??? What Systems are are POS and Why???
  24. I picked up a new Daily Driver, its a 2005 TrailBlazer and I want to put a decent system in... This system will be strictly for Music no SPL comps or anything crazy, I just want a really clean install, a system that sounds really nice and is Dependable... Of Course the Stereo nut SPL Freak in me wants it as loud as possible, but Still as good as possible... Not chassing the DBs... I listem to Mostly Rap, some R&B, Some smooth Jazz, some Rock, Wife listens to the same, plus Country and some old Blues I guess it is.... I've got some cash saved up, so this weekend I'm going to go look at getting an alarm put on (I'll do another post on that somewhere) and maybe look at ordering a headunit if I can decide on one... The question is on the Mids/Tweets and amp(s) to power them... I'm looking at getting a set of Polk Audio MM6501s (a set for Front and a set for Rear, Buy one, get one half off) http://signature.crutchfield.com/s_107MM6501/Polk-Audio-MM6501.html?tp=95 Now, powering them is really the question... I'm considering running Sundown amps for this system, 1 for Front/Rears, one for a Sub... The Polks I mentioned are rated @ 2.7 Ohms.. I'm thinking of going with a single SAX-100.4D to power both the front and rear sets... So with the ohm load (2.7 stated above) it should be putting out somewhere above 100wpc but below 160 wpc max... The Polk sets are rated at 25-125 rms and 250 Max I think... Will a single 100.4 will be enough??? I don't really want to buy and give up space for two SAX-125.2s... Space is a bigger concern those Amps aren't small... Again, this is a daily Family Ride... You figure, 1 Mid/Tweet amp, an enclosure for a sub, its amp, bound to need a extra Bat, but hope not... Still, we're eating up room left and right... I figured in order I'd add 1. Alarm, 2. Headunit, 3. Big Three - Mid/Tweets& amp for them 4. Sub & Amp...
