So I'm thinking of getting 2 mach 5 ixl15's and the sundown 1500. My question is with big 3 (0guage), kinetic hc800, and factory alt am I gonna toast my alt eventually? Unfortunatly the ixl's are only dual 2 ohm, I don't plan an pounding it all the time but would like a lil more spl occasionally. Cost is a factor to some degree, but would rather spend a little more and be safe if necessary. I've also considered the SSA Icons, but wonder if I would send enough power with the 1500. Either enclosure would be approx. 6-7cu. and ported to suggested spec. Thanks ! -

HEY!!! I own a Ford Escape!!!.......What he is getting at is true though. You could have a much more solid amp for little diff. in money. Just my 2cents.

Man, the OP sure did get a lot more than expected I'll bet!!! BTW, I own JL's (no I didn't pay the sugg. retail $$) & no other reason than getting louder am I looking to change. I've had them for 2+ yrs. off the JL 1000/1 in a ported box built to spec. with NO problems. Anyone I have let hear them has given compliments for overall sound and ability to get fairly loud. Not bashing you LB, just giving my 2 cents.

Yeah, I went to 3 local shops asking for quotes on a box for Icons (15's if this jack@ss ever buys my JL's), they all said "I wouldn't mess with internet companies". They went on to push their products so I said goodbye!! Not to intellegent for any business that wants to make any $$$.

Why don't you try to find someone either in your area with some Fi's or possibly go to a comp. and look for someone with them? It seems this may help in your decision by actually hearing them...not being a smarta$$, just a sug.

Well, my ground wasn't very good. M5 is the man! Just needed to get the paint off and get a better ground. Thanks again for all the help!

I don't have any way to check the voltage right now. I did get back and check my power and ground wires and they all are secure. I think the problem may be in the remote wire from my hu. I have a buddy coming out to help me so maybe he'll have the necessary equipment to check everything. Thanks to everyone for the suggestions so far.

O.K. I own a JL 300/4 and the amp has been cutting in and out. Sometimes the power light stays on but the music sounds as if it's muted. Other times the amp shuts down completly. The local shop that installed the amp ran 8 guage power and ground wires off my second battery in the rear (kinetic 800). Is the amp not getting enough current or is it dying? Any suggestions are appreciated. I'm thinking of saying screw the JL amps and going with Sundown! BTW the rest of my equipment is in my sig.

I own it and have the same problem. I was disappointed with the recording quality as well.
