Sound advice
For the money? MB Quart PVF 216. I've read in a german magazine (Autohifi) that it was right with the best. Ranking in the Reference class with Focal Utopia Be, Brax Matrix, Rainbow CS Platinium, etc... Heard it in a car and it was crisp and smooth as silk. Another option would be Hertz Audio HSK 165, never heard it but have read really good reviews.

Amp draw @ 4 ohm and 2 ohm
heh... lol So anyone can give me a correct explaination coz I'm a bit lost right now. I think that if your headunit sends 5V, then by adjusting my amp to receive 5V I'll have 600w@4ohm and 1000w@2ohm. Adjusting the gain to a bit less, let's say 6V, then I'll have 700-800w@2ohm. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Amp draw @ 4 ohm and 2 ohm
Good to know... I kinda knew that all along but still was unsure. Thanks for clarifying.

Amp draw @ 4 ohm and 2 ohm
Ohh ok then it should draw the same... Good to know, thanks for your input on this.

Amp draw @ 4 ohm and 2 ohm
And what about the current draw?

Amp draw @ 4 ohm and 2 ohm
sorry maybe I didn't explain myself correctly. Here are my options: Using my amp @ 4ohm and pushing 600w to 2 x Rl-i8 D4 Using the exact same amp @ 2ohm and pushing 600w to 2 x Rl-i8 S4. I know that the second option (@ 2ohm) will give me some headroom but what I want to know is will the 4ohm load be more efficient and draw less current than the 2ohm load pushing the exact same power? or is it the exact same? the amp is an Audison LRx3.1k Thanx

Amp draw @ 4 ohm and 2 ohm
Anyone?

Best way to clean our subs
or have the new one fade for 8-9 months then you'll have matched woofers B) kiddin'

Amp draw @ 4 ohm and 2 ohm
PS: it is not a JL audio kind of amp that pushes the same power over a wide range of voltage and impedance. More like 600RMS @ 4 ohm and 1000RMS @ 2 ohm

Amp draw @ 4 ohm and 2 ohm
Hi guyz... Happy New Year, all the best, keep safe and healthy. On to the topic. I would like to know if an amp @ 4 ohm pushing 600 watts will draw the same (amperage) as opposed to the same amp pushing 600 watts but at @ 2 ohm (hope that is english lol) Not sure if it has been answered before. Thanks for the help. Kelvin

When? RL-i8 back in stock
Then I feel it is time for an UPGRADE on this monster: More sensitivity, smaller depth, and BETTER SQ!!!!! I can wait till feb... even though it wasn't my plan. Merry Christmas Everyone, hope you had a good family time.

A little more info on the new Mags
Lucky we have DevilDriver on this forum to share his knowledge

A little more info on the new Mags
Not questionning anything here, but I though that the XBL^2 motor topology wasn't really efficient. I believe I read this on the thread DevilDriver made a few months back. I'd like to hear an explanation about how SI did this to make the new mag more efficient... Can't wait to see the new MONSTER!!!!!

Single and Dual Voice Coil
That is a good reading... Thanks...

Single and Dual Voice Coil
Just a quick question, when talking about a dual voice coil subwoofer, that does not mean that there is 2 coils pushing the cone of the subwoofer, correct? Therefore, a dual voice coil and a single voice coil have both one coil pushing the cone. The difference is that dual will have two "forces" applying energy to the coil (at both extremities) versus single which only have one "force" applying energy to the coil (on one end). Please correct me if I'm wrong, just trying to understand the basic knowledge.

I know I have a car audio addiction when......
... when you sleepwalk at night, open the trunk and change the equalizer's setting ... when you have 3" mid hanging on your christmas tree ... when you start installing a stereo on your son's toy car

Single and Dual Voice Coil
That is what I feared lol Made the thread about the dual / single voice coil's power handling but it goes as if it was a Maxxbass thread... I'd like to understand what is behind dual voice coil besides giving the user more wiring configurations. In the RL-i8, if the thermal limit is for example 700w in the S4 version, can each voice coil in the D4 version handle 700w thermally? For those who want to understand the psychoacoustic concept: http://www.wavescaraudio.com/htmls/maxxbass.htm http://www.wavescaraudio.com/htmls/carAudioJune01.htm www.maxx.com/objects/MaxxBassAESPaper.pdf (indepth with graphs)

Single and Dual Voice Coil
Heh I don't know I think that it would be fun to play with something I never played with. If I don't like it, I am sure I can find someone to buy it from me. In my country, people are so into "new stuffs". Same goes for me I guess

Single and Dual Voice Coil
Hi Guyz, Not sure if I'm in the right section... Firstly, please don't flame me on this one... Just trying new things. Let's say I will use a Maxxbass 103 processor that adds upper harmonics to the sound, making a component sounds like it is playing deeper due to the psychoacoustical effect. I have also read that it actually decreases (on some frequencies) the Xmax by 4. The component I'd like to use in that example is the RL-i8 Here is my question: Due to having the Xmax decreased, will that mean the component can handle more power 1/ for not reaching maximum excursion with the power applied 2/ for having a dual voice coil instead of one - that might sound stupid for some of you but I do not know how a sub is made. RMS on the RL-i8 is 500 for the D4 and the S4, but thermally, can the D4 handle twice the power the S4 can??? I'm clueless. Thanks for the input
