  1. hey guys, sorry its been a while. i have yet to finish the IB install, or even seriously begin it, since i last posted ive had school finals as well as the holiday season. BUT i quit my job as an installer because of management issues and i forsee the time and opprotunity to finsih my audio setup. unfortunately my subs are not first on the list, front stage will be the first section tackled. i have all of my equipment, now its just a matter of putting forth the time and effort of molding 3"s in the pillars and fitting 8"s in the doors. but as soon as i get started you guys will definately be updated!
  2. actually i already picked up my equipment, thanks for the tips though.. but imo DLS is just not worth the money, or atleast the iridiums.. not my favorite speaker, but to each his own
  3. havent heard anything, but i could def use like.. well.. ALOT of those! im doing multiple 8"s in 3 different cars right now
  4. yes i will make a worklog, unfortunately i dont know when il be getting the install initiated, work is getting busy during season and my classes are nearing finals!
  5. speakers and kicker amps are in.. now i just need a discount for my 300,000sq.ft of second skin and il be on my way =D
  6. SLS-8 8" NS3 black cone 3" Seas Textile dome tweeter have been ordered.. now for some more sound deadener..
  7. scanspeak dome tweeter - 160 Seas textile dome tweeter- 30 whats the benefit of 260$ more?
  8. for tweeters, seeing as i have heard only a small handfull of any of these before, which has the best overall output? im looking for a warmer sound, such as a silk, as opposed to any metal domes.. ive noticed a few tweeters around 150$ as opposed to 40-60$ where is the difference in price justified? i feel like a noob all over again =(
  9. yes i am using two 12" iCONs.. if i was planning to try a IB i would have chosen 15"s but its too late now.. il be pretty stuck if this IB doesnt work, not many other ways of getting ample airspace in my trunk..
  10. gonna order the NS3 mids, but which one should i be looking at? there are quite a few different models
  11. well i ordered all kicker equipment.. a few runs of 1/0g, distros, terminals, zx850.4 and zx850.2 now i need to find 1 or 2 nice small batteries and isolator to run with my optima.. probably get the stingers..
  12. id like to stay rather uniform, car will be through show and competition, ive never had a problem with kicker, while if i was a dealer for alpine, that list would be quite different, but i do have this horrible thing called a budget, and zapcos and alpines dont fit =/ but power output wise toward that setup of speakers, is it too much overkill? or is it just enough "headroom" =D
  13. heres the setup that should be right sls8 - zx850.2 NS3 & NSW1 - zx850.4 it was hard to find power ratings of these speakers, so im sure il have plenty of "headroom" but would a different kicker amp setup be preferred?
  14. that thick just for sealing the speaker holes? hmm, il end up making a shelf out of 1" so it will be all one peice.. that would make fitment easier and should seal stronger.. the process im planning is to fiberglass a ring along the border that ill have the wood follow, and then il mold them together and use soud deadner to make it tight.. i need to find out if my fender wells carry through from the trunk to the back seat, what a pain.. i should be buying second skin by the bulk by now
  15. whats the best way to seal up the speaker holes in the rear deck? i was thinking fiberglass and 1/4 mdf
  16. seeing as i have all new wires, batteries, rca's, and a H701 to install, the electrical will no doubt be fixed.. and surely before any of the iCONs see any power again.. once the parts come in il be waiting for an optimal time to take a few days off work and school so i can redo everything, also trying to get my front stage hooked up as well... thank god for paid time off! woohoo!
  17. well, i finished it all... didnt sound too shabby at all, even super unsealed it sounded rather low and clean.. il be taking this to the next step and putting both subs, 2 sheets of 3/4 mdf, braced like the eifel tower, and seal it up with everything i can think of.. now where did i put those PTO hours.... lol
  18. ok.. not going well, powered up the amp, just 12vlt and ground, not even remote, and the amp just went cosmic meltdown.. luckily no speaker wires or rca's.... i tried this other ancient amp i had, but it sits in protection.. so now i got a buddy comin over, il just run some long speaker wires from his amp so i can atleast get one thing done, listen to the IB.. il have to go check all my power wires and stuff another time, i dont know what that deal was..
  19. no i do understand that it wont sound phenomenal at first listen, but if it doesnt sound like complete a-hole... il go the extra effort to completely seal everything.. til now im just shoving sound deadening foam in as a seal... no point in doing an extensive seal if i dont even know if it will work right.. im off to finish this right now, so next post il have up some more pics
  20. surely this wont be overpowering! lol baffle is made.. tomorow il bolt it up and see how it sounds..
  21. im gonna try it.. i searched and havent seen anyone else try it yet.. THEORETICALLY the QTS is quite low for an IB application.. but you never know til you try it.. so im gonna throw up a quick baffle, a super quick seal, and throw a very low amount of power to it... like 300- 400 watts... just to get a feel of sound.. i decided to try this because i am stuck on how to build an adequate enclosure for my G35 coupe.. im trying to stuff two 12" iCONs in there.. but i want 3.0 a peice... which is next to impossible without building the enclosure into the trunk. if the IB doesnt work, il have no choice but to put the subs into much smaller enclosures(2.2ish) il keep you updated..
  22. The Subject.. The problem.. this is a simple, off the shelf 2 12" box so theres not much room, and i cant build the enclosure in the trunk because il have multiple setups.. so this is one of the ideas, but the actual will be 5 inches longer and 4 inches wider, and possible angled outward
  23. got my iCONs in, and im starting a few enclosures.. problem is, im not sure what kind of airspace is optimal.. id rather build 1 or 2 boxes and play with the tuning rather then ad to my collection of T&E boxes.. hoop of the trunk is unbelievably small, so the box might be split into 2 boxes.. ive got a few solid ideas for boxes that have measured out to 2.5 each sub.. should i be shooting for over 3.0??? from DevilDriver's review it seems the subs like the biggest possible enclosure.. il post pics in a few
  24. so how about these zx550.2 (275x2 @2ohm i believe) for the 8's zx650.4 (170x$ @2ohm) for mids and tweet, which im considering the Aura 3" and maybe a Seas tweet
