  1. HDC3. sorry. Should have specified.
  2. What bolts are needed to secure the basket to the motor? Thread, pitch, grade....
  3. With your dedication I'm sure you will get a 54 out of it, but I think you already know you are going to have to revisit one of the previous changes you made to your car.
  4. When you think its tight wiggle the wire side to side, then tighten again. Keep doing this till you can't tighten it anymore. (about 3-4 times) These terminals are the devil.
  5. I might be wrong, but isn't the SD the actual cone area? Just wondering how much more cone there is with the skinnier surround.
  6. Nice. Whats the Sd compared to the regular 10's?
  7. Manufacturer recommended spl boxes might be large because they still want the box to be safe for the guy who build it to get loud at a comp then assumes it would be safe to pound on it all day since it was so loud. They're not going to recommend a box that will blow the sub playing it daily. From what I've been learning in spl, smaller boxes generally work well, but the smaller you go the more power you need to get the sub moving and pressurize everything. There's always a trade off. Right now I have a 2.4 cube box for a 15" on 4400 rms watts. I want to try a little bigger to leave some more room for the port to breath. Best way to tune is throw out all the calculation programs. Build a medium sized box with some external aero ports, and just start the longest you have and keep working down till you find the sweet spot. I think I'm tuned about 5hz above my peak on my current box. Never actually calculated it.
  8. My poor AQ. Just cause it's sold doesn't mean you can treat it like a wh*re. lol.
  9. I wouldn't worry about it to much. I've been running mine for 2 season in a spl only setup and haven't had a problem yet. I'm just under 5k for power.
  10. Does anyone know the displacement of this woofer? Only reference I found was on the preorder page which mention 0.16 which seems low. Thanks.
  11. How much more power do you need them to take. I haven't heard of to many getting damaged due to power. Would be fun to see a high power wall built with mach5's
  12. yes they have the logos
  13. I powered mine up for the first time today and am really pleased with it. Box is .86 tuned to 38 with 2 3" pvc pipes. Going to finish sealing the box next week now that I know it sounds good. Very happy with my ixl10.
  14. bland posted a topic in Test 1, 2, 3...
I don't want to put spl10 in the title and get peoples hopes up. Is there a possibility of a spl10 coming out? If not is the motor to big to be convenient to make a custom one? (motor larger than sub would be)
  15. Not too hard to calculate. If it's a 12" cylinder it's 1/2 radius * 1/2 radius * 3.14 (Pi) * the length. We'll say 12" 6*6*3.14*12 = 1356.48 Divide that number by 1728 and you get 0.785 cubic feet.
  16. Good to see a fellow forester driver. If you go onto the main subaru forester board there are a few audio junkies on there that know what will fit and what doesn't as far a depth goes. For speakers you will need spacers both front a rear for almost anything. There are at least 2 different companies I know of that make some. Not sure if I'm allowed to post links on this board. As far as sound goes, I mostly do spl with mine, but I can tell you it really keeps the sound in considering I have done no deadening, which is usually really good when it comes to SQ.
  17. Did you get some spring terminals also to replace the ones on the spl12's Those ixl 10's look sweet too. Probably going to be getting a set.
  18. I had one fore about a year and a half. I just switched it out. I kept looking for a head unit with a large hard drive, but they don't exist. I finally realized the solution is what everyone has. A head unit with a ipod attached. Works perfectly. Problem with a carputer is the startup time. I had mine down to about 30 seconds, but for little trips around town I would never turn it on, so I never had my music playing. More trouble than it was worth, but it was a fun project.
  19. Just to give you a idea of how big 18's really are, have a look at this thread. http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/i...16045&st=90 It's a mini, so yes it is small, but even in a normal or even larger size car 18's are just crazy. Other than a van, I don't see how anyone would be able to manage 4 of them efficiently. I say even a well tuned 10 would work for a first system, and keep you very happy.
  20. Your probably more knowledgeable than me, but if you were clipping, turning the gain down will give you as cleaner output, which in theory, will get you a higher score.
  21. My crate is smashed up just about the same. Hate to think how a cardboard box would have held up.
  22. Going to be nice to see some real spl numbers out of this.
  23. I still say wait for the season to really start and wait for some numbers to start coming out with the spl12. I'm sure the sales will pick up and the demand will grow. Lets all build some crazy setups with the spl12 and show what this little heavyweight can do. I have yet to read about anyone breaking a 150 with one. Has there been anyone? I'm sure it can't be that hard.
  24. Not to steal the thread, but since some are asking for pics, here's mine next to last years spl sub. (not really a spl sub, but it served me well.) Can't wait to get the rest of my gear to try it out and start building boxes.
  25. I think the 12 isn't moving becuase it just got released before the off season. Wait till the season starts up again, and some people start putting out some numbers with it, then it should start moving. I still can't believe what a solid sub (appearance wise) it is for the price. Can't wait till summer to start testing with it.
