  1. The JL tw13.5 is a solid speaker. Probably one of the best slim subs out there. I installed one in a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon in the JL stealth box with some Focals up front and that thing rocked! My definition of rocked might be a little different yours though. It got plenty loud for me is all I'm saying. But if you did multiples, I'm sure you wopn't have an y problem getting good output from them. On the other hand the SA8s are some awesome little beats and a lot cheaper than the JLs. It's a toss up but I'm interested to see a build either way.

I just have some entry level Sennheisers but they work well for me. Maybe get some new ones in the future since my employer is a Sennheiser Dealer...
  4. buy one and compare pin outs. Provided they are the same pin outs and both are as complete as one another, you could take one back. If they do match up, maybe try to jump the turn on lead to a 12 volt source. It's unlikely but I have seen harnesses where the pins don't make contact with the factory harness. Have you tested for power in all the appropriate places with a meter?

  6. When I worked doing car audio, we sent a lot of repairs to United Radio. They do all kinds of repairs for automotive 12v stuff. maybe they could help you out.
  7. Don't EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER hack a harness off. For 2 reasons. You will not figure anything out unless you know exactly what you're looking for and probably have to pay someone to go ion and fix stuff, and usually when people hack harnesses off, they cut everything at the same time. When you cut power and grounds at the same time with a METAL cutters, you short out the power circuits and blow fuses. Anyways, you shouldn't need anything special if you don't care about on star. Just sounds like the factory amp is not powering up. Find the blue or blue with white wire on the aftermarket harness and tie it into any switched power source whether it is the remote turn on off the aftermarket radio or the acc power provided to the radio. It will work either way.
  8. We need to fix that. I love free samples. especially when you go to the grocery store and they have some awesome pizza or maybe some kind of meat product. Just saying
  9. I actually prefer the w6v2 to the W7 but that is besides the point. I have worked with JL products and their company a lot and they are top notch ion every aspect. Great products, service etc. From what I've seen here on SSA, SSA does just as well but I've worked with less of their products. I did have the pleasure of helping build and install an Xcon and it was by every means a good subwoofer. Deep powerful low end that blended well with the rest of the audio system and had the ability to get damn loud for a single 12" sub. Either way you go, I'd be willing to bet that you'll be a happy guy.
  10. Are those 18"s in an IB configuration?!?! Because if they are, that'd be awesome.
  11. I have a Droid X, and on my 3rd in a about a month. My first phone was shit, super slow and always froze up. The second worked great, then 1/3 of the screen stopped working and you could hear something internal humming. On my third and everything seems to be working fine. Bad luck? Probably. I am the same person who got the same DVD from netflix broken 4 or 5 times in a row.
  12. There is almost no downside to plasmas anymore. There are many more upsides to owning a plasma than downsides. Everyone at the retailer I used to work at had a plasma except 1 guy, and his next TV is going to be a plasma. The LCD/LEDs are getting better, but I'd still rather own a plasma. The only LCD/LED I would own would be a high end SONY LED tv, but those cost almost 5k and at that point, I'd find a used Pioneer Elite Plasma FTMFW
  13. I like the Kenwoods also. The DNX9960 I've put a few in and messed with them and they are great! I like the Kenwoods the best because they have a Garmin based GPS system. I've used the 9960 and the Alpine ina-w900 and the Kenwood takes it by a long shot. I personally like the Alpine w505 more than the w900. Kenwood FTW
  14. That radio will allow you to do a steering wheel interface with the right Pac part, but I am biased against Jensen. I'd much rather put a Kenwood in for a little more money. The only thing the Kenwood lacks when compared to the Jensen is HD radio which isn't essential. The kenwood looks better, and the user interface is levels above. I've installed and played around with both. Kenwood takes the cake. http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_22257_Kenwood+DDX516+-DDX-516-.html $80 will make a big difference
  15. A bass cube would be a parametric eq, but a Bass restoration processo,r like the epicenter, is not. The epicenter looks at the signal coming in and finds a number of harmonics in the input signal and creates the low frequency that was non-existent before. Audio Control gives a good generalization of what the epicenter actually does on their site somewhere but it's more and an eq.
  16. I love Bill Hicks! You gotta listen to some Doug Stanhope. It's a lot more raunchy, but he's on similar lines as Hicks.
  17. I love Wiha screwdrivers, just bought some more actually. I have been using Wiha for a while now, their build quality is fantastic....even when I use my flat blade for a pry bar. =D Holy Fack! this guys still around? First visit here in a while. But on that note, quality tools are a blessing. I have been buying Snap On most recently, but I won't have to be buying tools now with the new job Provided for me!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y1uU9hCmXQo Get this show on DVD or something. One of the best shows to grace the boob tube.
  19. I see I guess what I need is somebody to give me a demo of 140 and then 155db to clearly experience the difference myself. Sucks to know in south FL, its been nearly impossible to find somebody with that amount of bass. It will literally take your breathe away. Crazy.
  20. On my 9886, If you turn the defeat on, it makes the bass and treble settings disappear.
