Hi I was in my friends ride yesterday and heard a problem ive never read about When he turns his radio on, there is a static noise very similar to one you might hear from white static on a tv This noise starts before the music does and continues throughout music play Besides the annoying sound in the background, the music sounds fine Dude told me he just got a new radio cause he was hooking an amp up in the back and his headunit started smoking I could not figure that 1 out either, maybe he hooked the remote from the old radio 2 the batt and ground at the same time? i noticed the 2 guys who said they meter higher in the cold are located in tennessee. maybe your getting some of that southern humidity or reflecting off the mountains. it is interesting 2 me that air temperature and windows up/down, makes a noticable difference in bass loudness and quality im guessing that windows down is "louder" because your car turns into a port instead of a sealed up ride. i wonder with alot of watts (8k+), windows up or down dont really matter i notice that my max volume that sounds good is 4-6 lower with windows up i worry about my amps frosting internally and moisture developing when i warm up i agree that electrical works better in the cold, heat = resistance you guys ever notice the diff in the summer how the bass sounds b4 work compared 2 after work? humidity? its no secret that car audio is most popular in california and florida they probably enjoy it the most, lucky noobs any SQ guys notice anything or have some special setup for the winter months? some of the hoodlums i know totally unhook their subs in the winter
