  1. thats exactly what i am going to do. My original suggestion was to just use it for additional enclosure volume. With two md3ds strapped to the XXX at 2 ohms i stilll think power would be lacking for that sub. I am going to try the MX first since it has a 1 ohm option based on a vcc. for some additional power on a woofer that has a lower power handling.
  2. That was one of my first suggestions to the customer but he liked the idea of running a single woofer. Just giving the customer what they want not what I want (not being stubborn about it and letting it cost me my job haha)
  3. the holes above the 18's are for two 7" screens
  4. I agree with everyone as far as the money on product is concerned. In terms of sound quality, the 12's will be sealed off from the 18 and I am going to cut them off at anything the 18 picks up. Their boxes are small so they can touch the higher notes well. like i said though, the customer insisted this. Personally I think is FunKinG Wetaarrded. I tested 3000 watts on the 18 tonight and it gets extremely low but as far as the power situation is concerned he def. needs more. I am now going to be strapping two US MD3D's on the 18 and he has moved to an RE MX 18 instead. (the mx is a d2 instead of d4 like the XXX so I will be able to strap the amps to it at 1 ohm) plus I didn't realize it until now that the enclosure volume in addition to a better wiring option will also work well with the MX (landed around 12Cub ft). Will do some testing with the MX soon. I finished the trim plate in the front and recessed his amps upside down already. Will upload some pictures soon.
  5. let me know when you get this in so you can come by the shop. Id love to hear it
  6. I will get a picture of the sub up soon. I just got the sides sealed off today and should be able to do some testing on the 18 with my sundowns. Most of the 17000 was his remote start/alarms/screens/flip down nav/tint/ and stuff like that. i extended the enclosure into his trunk because the displacement of his port/sub/wood/12 boxes/ took up about 6 cubic feet.
  7. I am currently building a wall for a customer at the shop that is going to house a XXX 18 with two sealed 12" re series woofers for mid bass (customer insisted this not me). Here are some pictures of my progress. Net volume is 16 cubic feet with 160 square inches of port. Amplifiers consist of a USamps MD3D for the 18 an MD1D for both 12" woofers Elecitrical is lacking (KHC2400/1800/600) - customer ran out of money though, After all the other items he purchased for the install it came out to be over 17000 dollars.
  8. 18's finally came in. Working on puttin them in right now, just need to get the last two amps
  9. This was a long azz time ago but could you tell I once had the same problem? this setup his the lows hard for a trunk car but only did a 144 on the termlab. This was in the trunk of my civic
  10. I hooked up one of the 3Kd's up on two RE 8" subwoofers and put them in bass tubes at the shop today just for laughs. They bassraced a 140 and burped a 143.2. I can't believe each one took 1500 watts without a problem (they were hot though) one of the other techs here has a USamps md3d (3000 watts RMS or somewhere in there) on 3 12" eclipse 8200s in his cavalier and its doing the same numbers. this is hilarious I will try and get a video of them up if that cavaliers out of the trunk he has too many subs in there with 2 mojo 12s on one 3000D I was able to pull a 146.6 subs back port out the side agreed 2 12's is by far the best for most trunks because it allows more airspace for the woofers and usually more room for airflow back to the front of the car (versus a large QTY of woofers getting less power, less airspace, and being crammed all together and choked inside a trunk. I see way too many people do this. Since you are only working with 5 or 6 cubic feet its way better to have the airspace instead of a high numbers of woofers. he doesn't seem to understand that. he just ordered 4 RE SE 12s that he is going to throw in now because he wants to be louder then my two 8's. After he crams all four of his subs in that tiny trunk of his he is going to be pissed when I get his car louder with half his woofers in a ported box. it def. cracks us up to see people who think they are loud just because they have more woofers

  12. Give me a call tomorrow if you get the chance. The 18s are on the way. Ill work out payment with you on the last amp. -Mike
  13. Sorry my car needed a bath tonight and i just got off work. heres the first two in the hatch. box is still at the shop waiting for the new top assemblies. only optimas are pictured, the kinetik batteries are through the entire car (backseat is torn out and 5 are under a floorplate i made in there (other two are under the hood for now). The entire back of the car has been hardened with deadening and expanding foam underneath all the panels. I wanted to make sure nothing was going to come loose since the last setup ripped half my pressure clips out of some of the panels (talk about a annoying sound). roof has now been deadened and some small places that leaked air in the hatch as well. second windshield is still broke. not much sense in replacing it when im adding more power.
  14. i will take a pic of the wiring in the hatch with the two amps and post it soon. i was able to hide all my kinetiks (three 2400s under the box) two 1800s behind the front seats (covered by a plate i made) one 2400 and 2000 under the hood. took the airbox out to fit them. only exposed batteries will be two group 34 optimas that i leave out on purpose for wiring. found a new bass race song for the new tuning. car should bass 150s easy with the new amps on 35hz. i just hope nothing important breaks. stop by the shop sometime. I have had a triple x 18 on display and always wanted to see what one can do! or the new orion HCCA....
  15. thanks guys SSaudio stands for singer and scibana (a close friend of mine that I tried to go into business with awhile ago) we both pursued other things so I kept it as my competitor name. I put a lot of hard work into my vehicle and much more for next year. the LMS woofers were in the low 150s on the TL (on the dash) while still being tuned in the 30hz range with minimal port volume. these truly are amazing woofers. I should be at many more shows for next year representing the new woofers and sundown amps. I have received two and they already seem like they kill the memphis mojo amps for power abilities and efficiency.
  16. insanity. its nice to know that I am gonna own 4 of these bad boys (still waitin on two more.
  17. Alright guys. you have all seen the videos.... The LMS 18s laughed at two memphis 4kws (8000 watts rms) Can they handle 4 saz3000Ds with 2 strapped on each one at 1 ohm? still waiting on the new ones from tc sounds and paying off two more SAZ3000Ds...
  18. Just talked to Jake today. hands down one of the coolest guys in car audio today. this man is a true pioneer of what great customer service is all about. you don't find that these days...

I have a 15 inch LMT I will let you guys know how it works out
  20. im a dealer for boston and tc sounds. Borth PRs are tuned differently. The boston design can be tuned without removing the sub (the dust cap unscrews and there are weights that can be added in and out of the pole piece they rest on) i havent got a chance to do an install with them yet but I would love to mess around with them soon

Should be okay if you do not play it for extremely long periods of time. I strapped my two mempis 16-MCD4kws to one of my LMS 18s and it handled it fine.
  22. ss-audio replied to bdufner's topic in Sundown Audio
If your careful they should take it fine. I have two 18 inch TC Sounds LMS 18s with 4000 rms on each and they don't see it (a small enclosure though-around 10 cube ft). I will be ordering 4 of the SAZ3000Ds as well very soon here for them heres a link to the one of the videos of my 18s the BTLS are solid woofers and are on almost the exact same scale of linearity as my LMS woofers. good choice, if you tune them low they will still suprise you in terms of SPL.
