The alt has been tested. Output is 150 amps at idle because of the overdrive pulley. Did you test it or did the company give you a test sheet saying its supposed to do whatever they rate it? Get a multimeter on there and check the voltage. no, he doesn't need MORE batteries. I will say he needs to get rid of the cap and the yellowtop and get a better battery. yellowtops are not good for car audio. caps are just too weak to do anything helpful in this situation. they will actually put a strain on the alt.

Dude, my girl's 2001 v6 mustang has a DC 260sp in it and its just beast. 14.8v lowest (15.0v above idle) with a cheap walmart battery under the hood and 1500 watts. Everything on with system on blast at idle and it doesn't drop any lower.

I'ma say it because I don't care. It was a mechman alt and I think the owner actually had it fixed by mechman and it still died. The owner let it out of the bag on CACO. Then mechman was talking shit about how its not even a fair comparison on the DC write up and how DC costs too much. blah blah blah.
