  1. True, but I want to run a box between 54-55hz. Strictly only a SPL car. I don't wanna tune in the mid 40's.. I wanna be around 54-55hz for competitions and these subs, people are saying, wont sound right doing it. Thanks John for the input.

They are nice subs for the price and they offer several options to customize your own sub to your liking. I wouldn't hesitate to use the BL's, but also try looking into maybe pierceaudioproducts.com , and look at the WMD's(Woofers of Mass Destruction). They have a nice price and they sound freakin awesome. My good friend has 2 15" WMD's on a Massive Audio 3000.1 in an 8 cubic foot box, and it slams to gods end. Hope this helps.
  3. Well here goes: I have 2 15" RE SX's and two Sundown Audio SAZ 1500d's. Problem is, the Fs of the SX is 27.8 and the box that I'm going to use(or was gonna use) is tuned to 54hz. Now being that the Fs is 27.8, it's not a SPL sub now I realize in a box that is tuned to 54hz.(I'm still learning I'm a semi-newb) I've heard the 15" SX in a 46hz tuned box with a 1000 watt DD amplifier and it sounded ok, but I've had a few people tell me, these 2 SX's are going to sound bad as in terrible in a 54hz box. Does anyone have any opinions/suggestions/solutions or alternatives? I may be switching sub's and if I have to whats a better alternative? I need 2 15's with the Fs around 34-34.5 to work in the box I'm going to use. I don't wanna go DD if I don't have to because of the price and Fi's are a little outta my price range right now as well. Any alternatives? I would appreciate your input, how little or big it be..Thanks Geoff
  4. I should be there around 1pm or so. See ya there man.
  5. Of course, the sealed enclosure will be more punchy and accurate bass. Is their enough space to fire the ports up through the rear speaker hole area to have sufficient square port area for the L7's x3? If their is, tune it 38hz-40hz so it will be a bit more "punchy". If not, I'd stay sealed, just try different box sizes. On my Sebring I had the 15" RE SX firing forward into the cabin with ports firing into cabin. It sounded awesome as well at only a 30hz box it did 146 on the TL. Is their enough space to fire them all forward or is the opening to small to fit them? Best of luck to you.

What Steve said.... What's your electrical upgrades , i.e. : Batts, Alts, Wiring? The 3000 pullls a **itload of power. Are you supplying enough power to feed it enough juice?
  7. Can't hurt anything trying....Go for it. Hope for +2 dB , lol.... Never heard of that though...
  8. Nice build....Unique and cool, nice job. Keep it up.
  9. Looks pretty good. I thought the one from last year was pretty nice. But, looks good, hoping to see it when I come out for the competitions. On a different note, Brian...what time is the comp this Saturday in Arlington? I'll try and make it there, to hang out with you and such..
  10. Sometimes you can find used SAZ 3000d's for $600 to $700. Their was a P3000.1 Massive Audio for sale on Craigslist for $625 a few days ago in the DFW section. I'd pick the Sundown 3000d if you could find one. I've seen a few used ones sell for $650 to $750 on here.
  11. At that power level...John is right, the SR would probably be a better choice. If your friend wanted to step up in terms of power to about 800-1000 watt amplifiers, I would choose the SE. I've head the RE SR 10" model on 500 watts RMS, and it sounded pretty awesome for that amount of power in a 1.5 cubic foot box sealed.
  12. 13W7 is a nice sub but a little pricey. But then again what isn't pricey anymore. I'd go with Soundsplinter, personally, heard a lot of good things about them and have a friend that runs a Soundsplinter RL-P 12" and it bangs hard for a single 12" setup. I hear too many people around here where I live that have had bad luck with JL, but I've never used JL so it still is probably a pretty nice Sub. Just my .02 cents
  13. Nice start, gonna be a nice build. Can't wait to see a finished product. The SX will get as loud as you want. I'm running the SX 15's and on about 2,400 watts a piece and they're pretty loud. A friend of mine has a single RE SE 12" on the USAmps Xterminator 4000 and for it being the SE, its pretty loud, in a similar box to yours. 2.5 cubic feet at 34 hertz. Good job, and nice work. Keep us posted.

Well I had two phone numbers for him, didnt know the second one was a home phone number. Felt bad calling the man at his home while he was off. But being the awesome person he is, he took happily took my order and thanked me for calling. Great customer service. Thanks Jacob.
  15. Yes, you'll have to forgive me....... Tons of space to work with. I don't know if I wanna build a wall. It would produce better results probably but I don't wanna lose the vision looking backwards in my rear view. But I'll build a wall if I have to! Best believe it !

Ordered another 1500d from Jacob today. A+ service as always and very friendly on the phone even though I called him on his home phone. (Sorry Jacob) Love the first 1500d , so had to order another one! Customer for life. I'm hooked on Sundown!
  17. My 2 SX 15's weigh 28.9lbs a piece. Identical.... I thought the 18 was like 31lbs on woofersetc.com....just with a tad bit heavier cone weight with a bigger basket. Website says 27lbs for the SX 15's I have and it's almost on the nose.
  18. Well I'm selling the Sebring and buying a SUV, so space isn't an issue, sorry should have mentioned that.
  19. I see....it would be cheaper........ You seriously think 2 would work better then 3? I want to run 3 SX 15's with 3 SAZ 1500 Sundowns. And the ZAPCO 650.6 for mids and highs. I can go with two, not a problem, but I thought three might be a little different (and louder) than the normal 2 sub setup that you see commonly. Should I go ports up, subs up like your 4 Sub box or? If you think I would meter better on 2, then talk some sense into me, because you are wiser and more knowledable than me. I'm looking to go low to mid 150's on the Meter.
  20. Guess it didnt work on first post, sorry... Here ya go.
  21. I have two of them, going into my next setup, only 1 pictured. HC 2000's from Kinetik... These things are heavier then sh**.
  22. Welcome to SSA You will like it here. I'm quite new myself and can tell you, their are a lot of knowledgeable people here that are willing to share information if you just ask! Welcome and nice Camaro.
  23. My friend Carlo runs the XXX components and they are pretty good sounding in his Camry. They don't ever fall off, and are pretty strong mid bass drivers. I was actually surprised at how well they performed, being that I haven't read many great things about them. Haven't heard Morels or Dynaudio's yet in person, don't know much about them. I personally wouldn't run the XXX's, I run the Soundstream Tarantula Components and they are a bit cheaper, and love them.
