  1. i'm not going to use the h701, i'll be using the alpine mra-f350 which i was told has a digital sound precessor that you can control with the w205. i'm not 100% about the 5.1 thing either but it really seems to fit the build i'm doing. it's an easy way to do something cool and different, and has actually simplified my system and saved me money. i'm just making sure i don't have too much invested into it in case i want to dump the 5.1 and go conventional.
  2. the only reason i'm giving them a try is because i will be runnin a 5.1 system where each of the 5 channels will only be seeing 50w rms. i think coaxials will get the job done, but i already bought some nice components (180w rms) that i can use if they don't.
  3. 1)thank 2)you 3)sir
  4. i'm only gonna have room for a single sub, but i'm really not going for monster bass. actually the 600w amp i've settled onis probably overkill. enclosure will be small and sealed.
  5. how are these? looking for some coaxial 6.5" & 6"x9"s. the other brand i'm also considering cdt. wouldn't mind a price quote myself.
  6. i plan on relocating my battery to the trunk and adding a second one. couple question: 1)they are wired parallel, correct? 2)do i need a fuse in between the batteries? 3)do i need to fuse the power wire running from the engine bay to the trunk?
  7. I'm looking for a 12" sq sub in the 500-600w range. I haven't been keeping up, but I seem to remember reading that RE products have gone down in quality. I know the IDQ is an all time favorite. Anything else fit the bill?
  8. show car build.
  9. I have been looking at 5.1 options. Some questions I have: 1) I would like to be able to control the processor through the HU. I read that the Alpine W205 can control the H701 although it doesn't say that on the website. I had intended to get an AVIC-D3 but that doesn't seem to have any control over the pioneer processor. What are the best options here? 2) Looking around I notice that the 5 channels are always equal power. Is this the correct way to set up a 5.1 system or is it ok to vary the power to different speakers? 3) Assuming that all speakers SHOULD have equal power, where on earth do you find quality component/coaxial speakers that will preform well on 50w? 4) Is the Alipne MRA-D550 equal to the H701 with an added amp?
  10. any love for the big guys? i usually wear 3x tall... but like a 3 or 4x would do.
  11. man i've never read a 22 page thread in my life... until now. that thing is disgusting. i think anybody can cut, glue, screw etc. but the dedication is what impresses me. to stay on this thing while working a regular job and remoddling your house, plus giving the sickest build log of all time is straight gangster.
  12. i'm planning on using a 1500d at 2 ohms (800rms) in a sealed enclosure. sq baby.
  13. <- guilty of being more of a basshead than i'd like to admit. so theres 2 ways to ask this question; will a bl in a optimally sized sealed box have decent sound quality? OR: will a q in an optimally sized sealed box be loud enough/have a good low-end. the amp is a constant (1500D). what about the power handling capabilities of the bl? i want to say sq is more important of the 2, but without with good lows i know i won't be happy.
  14. i'm gonna bump this rather than starting a new thread because i have the same question. i am planning on getting a single Q12 but am interested in the bl since it seems to be more popular. also the universal option is interesting since i plan on running it off a sundown 1500d. i was going to start at 2ohms but would like to have the 1 ohm option. what are the sound charateristics of the q vs bl? enclosure will be sealed in the optimal size. will a "loaded" (no extreme lead) bl even handle 1500w?
  15. what cdt set are you using now? would you reccomend getting a 250.2 or a 100.4 and running active?
  16. whens the 250.2 supposed to be released? this would be a perfect match for my cdt hd-62/m6.
  17. i'm planning on using between 800w by running a sundown 1500d at 2 ohms (for dependability and cosmetic reasons). my goals are to have decent low end with good sq. nothing competition level, just street/show. i'm sure a single 12 with 800w in 1-1.5' sealed enclosure will get decently loud. right? i probably will go with the fi q12 since thats something i really want to hear. i always end up kicking myself for getting things other than what i really wanted. will it still sound good a little underpowered? on a side note, do y'all think the sundown 100.4 would be good for running my cdt hd-62/m6. the m6 is rated at 150w so same issue with under powering. and one more thing, i'm considering using some cdt classic 6x9 for rear fill. i know a lot of ppl say don't bother, anyone disagree?

i've done all that before, and believe me i thought about doing it again. a couple reasons: 1)i wanna see what sq is all about 2)the car i'm building will be shown. doing a luxury/sport theme so i want a low key install 3)i might install air ride which will take up most of the trunk space honestly, i don't know anybody with a sq system. i figured 1 12 with ~1000w will probably be as loud or louder than most systems on the street, but i'll have more clarity. i'm probably going to use a sundown amp. i was reading about products on here for about 12 hours yesterday and they seem nice.
  19. i came here thinking i knew what i wanted and just looking for more information, but i have discovered a couple products i didn't know about. i liten to rap and the inclosure will be 1-1.5' sealed. i am going for sq, but i know me and i love being loud. is any 1 drastically better/worse than the others? fi q12 (how i got here) icon 12 soundsplinter rl-p12
  20. i want a double din with monitor for sure though. *edit* i looked at H701 a lil closer and it does look intersting. alpine doesn't say that you can control it with the IVA-W205 but does anyone know that you can?
  21. no, in fact i only barely know what you're talking about. the install will be from scratch, i just want to make sure i don't buy anything that i won't like. something i would like to add is i want the hu to be active capable (which i also don't fully understand). i'll probably start out using the passive crossovers, but i want all possibilities to be open.
  22. i have been trying to decide between these for a while. since i'm new here i thought i'd see what you guys perfer. 1)pioneer avic d3 - almost bought this one. i like pioneer, love how it looks, don't care about the single slot since i don't care about nav. the 2v preout thing killed it though. 2)eclipe avn5510 - the only thing that keeps me from buying this is thinking i can get something just as good for cheaper. 3)jvc kw-avx800 - the underdog. features look great, don't care about nav, the price is right. but its a jvc... thoughts/suggestions?

i found this site while searching for info. on the fi subs. my car is a 98 nissan maxima. i listen to southern rap. the only thing i've bought so far are components (cdt hd-62/m6). i plan on getting a single q12 and putting it in a sealed enclosure fiberglassed into the wall of my trunk. what amp would you guys suggest? trying to stay away from the "bang for your buck" type stuff (which is all i know). something with a little more quality without going overboard. it wouldn't hurt if they made something that could power my comps as well (250rms @ 4ohms) cause i like stuff to match. thanks.
  24. Whats up y'all? I found this site in my search for info. on Fi subs. I liked what I saw as far as people helping out more than on other forums. I'm putting together a 1998 Nissan Maxima. Planning on doing a SQ(L) set-up. Only thing I have bought so far is a set of CDT HD-62/M6 components, but I'm not in any rush since my car should be in the body shop for a couple more months.
