  1. So the flatwind wouldn't be needed for 1kw?
  2. If I recall correctly, if you e-mail scott at Fi, he can hook you up with some more tinsel lead material that you can solder on to the proper length.
  3. Dang, thats sweet. And theres still room to store things in the back. Nice job.
  4. I'm a confusing sort of guy. Side note: SSA has the most smilies ever...
  5. Wow, on 8s too. Impressive. I'll bet that rear cover comes in handy for covering up your audio stash when you're parked.
  6. Haha good point, not so much, but the BTLs are more known for their sheer power handling, not sound quality. I was just wondering if the SSDs were a bit more precise. Okay, looking at one SAE-1000D per SSD. I'll be going with flatwind and BP option.

Conspiracy! They use magic to make their subs, and they don't want the competition finding out! Yes, thats it!
  8. Oh man, I figured it would be something like this! I was e-mailing theabunai, and I made the comment "Hmm, the manual lists the rating at 14.4V, but knowing Jacob, it'll probably do close to a thousand watts anyway." Your product truly are incredible. I've never known a value line of products to exceed their specification by such a margin. You set the standard for economy. Take pride in knowing that I regard your products as real quality in a world where electronics are getting cheaper and more disposable. Few companies build things for the long run, I hope you keep it this way. I'm definitely going with a Sundown amp.
  9. The website lists the following: Power 1-Ohm:1 x 5000 Watts Power 2-Ohm Bridged:1 x 3000 Watts Power 4-Stereo: 1 x 860 Watts A fully loaded BTL should handle 4k, if you've got everything setup right. Good electrical, and properly set gains makes for happy voice coils. Why not two BTLs? 5kw split between two 18"s would make for some awe-inspiring bass, in my opinion.
  10. Mahalo for the bump, yama, what are you running audio wise?
  11. So the 1000 is rated at 1000W @ 14.4 volts. What kind of numbers are we looking at closer to voltages on stock electrical, say 13V? Would two 1000d's be content on an 100A alt, with the big 3, and a battery in the rear? Also, one amp does 1000W, but two strapped does 1800. Why is this? And one more question... would a 1000d on a Fi SSD 12" wang awesomely? Thanks! -Trevor
  12. Hmm, yeah, the two 12s are looking good. How is the sound quality of the SSDs in comparison with the BTLs? Also, am I going to be able to hit around the same low notes with 12s instead of a 15? Thanks! -Trevor Edit: With 750W going to each SSD, is BP Power needed? I plan to wang on this pretty hard, will BP be needed to ensure good cooling, or will the great power handling of Fi moofers suffice?
  13. Yeah, your local junkyard will probably have the parts for much cheaper then a new OEM, if you can live with minor imperfections. Also, study the old part carefully, and have a plan of attack on how to remove it from the donor car without breaking it.
  14. street slamming, or whatever you call it. Daily driver. >.> Its 4:44 in the morning, pardon the cluelessness.
  15. Wasn't worried about underpowering it, but some thinking led me to the fact that two twelves would fit in the same space as the 15, AND have more cone area! By the time I can afford another 1500d and electrical, I'll probably be able to afford some new subs too.
  16. My amp is going to be a 1500d, for sure. Two SSD12s have a recommended ported volume of about 5ft^3, and a BTL15 has a recommended ported volume of about 5ft^3 as well. I understand the two 12s will move more air, which may be more impressive as far as my budget will go, and being realistic, I don't anticipate being able to buy another amp or the surrounding electrical to back it up for awhile. Anyway, I ask your advice once again. Should I go with two SSD12s or one BTL15 powered off of a 1500d running at 1 ohm? If built in their ideal boxes, which would get louder, or would it matter? What would be the pros/cons of either? Mahalo, Trevor

Holy frijoles, that looks like some kind of time travel device. Are those two cables/hoses for some kind of water cooling, or are they just really large power cables? I see what looks like an emergency shut off button. Only dangerous/cool stuff have those. I'm thinking those are capacitors... o.o Sweeeet.
  18. Right on. Sounds like you need more caffeine.
  19. You mean you've lost some of your hearing?
  20. That is one sick Hyundai. Props!
  21. Shawn, you probably don't want to type out a straight e-mail address, or the e-mail spam bots will pick it up and spam it. Probably better to type something like tommcact -a-t- saturnofoaklawn.com or something similar.
  22. Haha, those stories are nuts! Nothings gets a wide grin on my face like the two DD's in my friend's car playing DJ Laz's Journey Into Bass. I thought we were going to die. >.> The compass button in his mirror actually popped out and flew into the backseat, followed by the rest of the mirror. Sorry for the un-Fi-ness, but I thought it was pretty awesome.

I'd like to see a picture of this machine, it sounds pretty wicked. Actually, a photo tour of Fi would be pretty cool...
  24. T-shirts! I would kill for a plain white/black t-shirt with "Fi... inFinitely amazing" on the back and just "Fi" on the front.
