  1. but im keeping the crescendo my old subs are going to someone elses car and i need to find one that can suit it well
  2. seems to me like the engine idle is to low for the alternator to keep everything running but 14.3 at first start up is normal since cold start up the voltage is high but at idle it should be 13.8. i would probable get a dmm and test the battery if the battery is at 13.8 when your readings are low then that means your voltage meter is off or the current that has to go through the pcm and all the other goodness to show what the voltage is at idle and a 2k rev. i would say get a friend to com over and have a dmm put the points up to the post when the engine is warm and your readings are low see if the battery voltage stays at 13.8 and then crank the system to its maximum playing volume before clipping and see what the drop is if the voltage drops alot from the dmm then that would mean you need a (more powerful) alternator then the stock output one but with 600 watts the dimming should not be noticed til you hit about 800 to 1k rms. but some vehicles lights are sensitive to and voltage drop that is greater then .3 but dimming can be noticed very well with a .5 drop but what else can help is upgrading the amp wire and amp ground might not be sufficent enough for the draw it requires.
  3. i hav an install 2 weeks from tomorrow and was wonder what is a good amp for two alpine sws 12d2. i need find a recommended amp for them since i ran them on a crescendo bc2000d with gains half way. thanks to all that can recommend me one. budget for amp is 150 to 250 dollars tops 300
  4. How Many layers should be needed to cover the battery for the heat shield material for the battery
  5. I forgot to stop by Wal-Mart so I will do it tomorrow morning after work
  6. I forgot to stop by Wal-Mart so I will do it tomorrow morning after work
  7. Will check Wal-Mart after work since that is the onlything open when I get off. But would a heat shield help as well
  8. I used a dmm and charge is 13.8 idle after a few minutes oh the engine getting a little warm and 14,2 at cold start but goes to about 13.4 to 13.5 at idle for an hour or so
  9. so i just replaced my battery two days ago and the battery is already swelling up the next day and today not much has changed. my first guess was heat and still might be, one other info is that the battery is loose not tied down since the bar or battery holding thing that goes across it was to tall to hold the battery in place. so the battery is loose and able to move should i get a new one and tie it down. this battery is the second one and if i replace it it will be the third one from them battery: duralast platinum 34r car toyota camry alt: 130amp from a 2003 highlander(original stock 80 amps)
  10. The atm underthe hood keeps bulging and idk why but I have a hunch of either heat or voltage drop
  11. @DanP right now that is my only option since i do not want to put the old battery back since i have no idea how much longer it has. the battery is about 5 to 7 years old
  12. i just added another battery and my vdrop is still high when i crank it up. i just installed the battery yesturday and so far the vdrop at normal volume and when i compete is about half to 75% of the vdrop. im assumption now is my alternator i have a bc200d wired to 1 ohm but have not calculated box rise yet since im missing some tools to do so. and with the stock alternator from a 03 highlander im left with 95 amps to play with but the amp at full tilt is 144amps draw.
  13. alright but the box will make it sound alot different.
  14. the one upfront is a agm a duralast platinum 34r and the one in the back or second one is an acid battery which is the old one i had upfront
  15. dayum i just want to boost the output as much as i can but still be able to have it for a couple years i was asking about the diffference between the two
  16. i can't wait to see the box. i finally added a second battery
  17. im kinda on a really tight budget saving money on a house as well so have to balance spending and saving edit: is there a difference between rewind and rebuild
  18. oh i will make sure i can make this one and lude that little thing we were going to do we will have to change it for another time i added my old battery to the loop but not getting that loud til i can get my alt rewound to get a little more amperage
  19. would anyone know how much more on average you can increase the output of a stock alternator just by doing a rewind. i added a second battery which is not much. the second battery is my old battery that is a stock from upfront in the engine bay. i have the 130amp alternator from a 2003 highlander, just need to get to 200A output but i know each alternator is different and will not be able to get much more out of it. thanks to all that can help me
