  1. Its christmas time frame, just buy the damn tickets surely its well worth it!
  2. Obviously by the looks for it Sean is sick! I am waiting to bother him with more front stage questions though, but I figured he may be more of a D!ck while sick LMAO! I dont know that Im quite ready for a thread just yet though.....Did some good reading today though! Front stage has a ton of info to read/understand before even trying to start putting something together, damn all I can say is Sq guys have a ton of patience if they are setting things up via active processors eqs etc!!
  3. cutting them into strips still isnt going to change the thickness of the material though. Overheard projector paper is what I normally use comes in several different thickness. You have the right idea OP you should search the forum and find the thread dedicated on reconing subs that will help you alot.
  4. Nice! If you didnt send that HU out, You mise well keep it now lol and I will just bring the stang its going in up to you! You got that deck all dialed in an everything sounding good or what?
  5. M5 by chance do you have some more useful links for reading on building a front stage? I read ALOT last night, but I still have a little confusion and Im not finding it in the SEARCH BAR!
  6. If the choice was 3-12s done right or 2-15s done right I dont think there will be much audible difference. Best of luck though
  7. good job bud! Im glad you REALLY like your new HU and you got supplies to do a few more Hu installs
  8. I think the easiest way for people to help is going to be from getting more info from you: What dimensions do you have USABLE meaning in the area you want to use? Specs on the woofers? Internal or External port/s? Picky on tuning? What style music is played majority?
  9. terrible......So then 12s will be of the first 2 dammit!
  10. Just being curious how do you get thick and thin shims from manila folders? Not downing you by any means duran, but I have seen alot of people jack up recones using random stuff for shims they end up with coil rub. Op you can email or call Aq and ask Dj if you can get shims from him, search online, hell you can probably call several companies off here. As for glue I like ca glue, but either work.
  11. I guess Im not seeing it, but how do you expect to run a pair of 10s ported (guessing 30hz for tuning) in a smaller box then you have now? Isnt your goal to save room?
  12. 2-15s (353.25 cone area) 3-12s (339.12 cone area) 4-12s (452.16 cone area) so if you had the room for any of the listed the cone area of 4-12s would be the most. Like m5 said its going to matter most on calculating what your going to need/want/use for port area obviously doing 2-15s 100% right vs trying to cram 4-12s in there with limited port (basically cutting corners) is going to be the best idea. Doing something Half A$$ will more then likely never give the results your after.
  13. all lies! What does DC have to do with it? You can put the front stage in without the Alt!!!! Hopefully you dont slack when I get back which happens to be fairly soon
  14. trying researching/reading the thread on how to set gains/amps. Its a great read and will help you alot.
  15. http://www.diymobileaudio.com/forum/diyma-sq-forum-technical-advanced/33504-rca-output-voltage-test-alpine-9887-a.html
  16. ok then that isnt the issue. You still could have bad rcas, have you tried checking the output Vlts from the sub preouts? Try that along with grounding them out.
  17. your sub preouts might be bad, if you plan on trying to ground out the preouts while you have the HU out take a look at the sub preouts if they are cables? If they are just sockets on the back of the HU not really much you can do.
  18. any chance 10s will be of those 2 sizes by early summer
  19. when you say you cant get your sub loud that could possible be your preouts are dicked on the HU, I had a similiar problem with my kenwood DDX7017 turns out the preouts cable had a slice in it exposing the inner wire making that set of preouts BAD, had to send it in for repair. I had the problem also with a kenwood 794 I believe is the model, I had to ground out the rca preouts like I suggested to you. Are you only running a sub amp or you have a 2/4channel as well?
  20. understandable, reason I am asking is because after reading your thread from start to finish it seems like your goal and mine are very much the same. Do you have an idea when you will have yours complete, I would enjoy reading your personal results on how it worked out. I plan on starting with a 2way active front stage as well, but Im still in the researching stages. Best of luck and by the looks of it your in good hands
  21. I like where this is headed. So the ? to the Op is this...Do you plan on running 1 comp set and horns upfront, running 3way with a Killer midbass, tweet, midrange plus the horns, dropping the tweeter idea and running midbass, midrange, horns?
  22. I am doing research then I will ask Sean for front stage help
  23. lmao, so You travel to WW just for the brisket? Sometimes your responses to be piss me off, only because I am looking for an answer and not getting it, but commonly thats the fault of the asker. Research > Me I have never been up that north though, from Mo the most Northern I have been is Omaha, Ne
  24. try this and tell us what happens. Take a piece of wire wrap it around the tips of the rcas and push them into the pre outs, with the other end of the wire ground it to the spot you have the hu grounded.
  25. someone should look up that site for walmart where it has a ton of fucked up people doing stupid shit wearing retarded off the wall shit
