covering my box
I just did this a few months ago. The first thing is that there is NO room for error. If you feel ANY type of bump, it will mess it up. It took 10 coats of primer on this before the edges of the MDF were paintable. I had my paint guy use an automotive grade paint and a clearcoat on it. It looks damn good in person, but even with all of the HOURS of sanding and fine tuning there are still a few barely noticeable blemishes. Does it look good? Absolutely! Amazing! Would I do it again? Well I would charge a hell of a lot more than just price of supplies this time around...

question (newbie kinda)
You WILL blow your subs. Also, read this: http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/i...?showtopic=3704 That amp really isn't the greatest to run for your subwoofers, but if you have your heart set on Fi I would pick up 2 Fi SSD's with D1 coils. Run them in series, one on each channel of that amp. That way you'll get 320w to each sub. Just make sure you understand what you're doing when you set it up. Understand your gain control and your volume knob. I don't think you blew your subs because of your amp being too powerful, I think you were clipping the signal pretty good. (You still over powered them)

Life after Death?!?
Is that just a speckled spray paint on it?

question (newbie kinda)
Okay, first off NEVER EVER look at peak ratings on an amp. Always look for the RMS. Also, always leave your bass boost off. 320W x 2CH @ 2 ohms (640W) less than 0.5% THD. 220W x 2CH @ 4 ohms (440W) less than 0.3% THD.

Welcome to the IHoP
Tons of customers working on Bio-devices. I'm looking to get out of Nursing, and I'm looking at a school that offers Biomedical electronics. I'd really like to find out how I would get in with a company who builds MRI or CT machines though. Travel around and install those. I really don't know where to turn though. isn't that what finebar does? Can't remember, haven't seen him around here in quite awhile though it seems like. If anyone knows anyone they could put me in contact via email I'd really appreciate it.

Building a Subwoofer
I will continue to buy O Audio plate amplifiers. I HATE my PE Bash amplifier. It's trash compared to the O Audio.

Welcome to the IHoP
I guess all those years as a young child at Drum Corps show and rock concerts with my dad has screwed up my hearing. I was enjoying my buddy Canaan's van with 10 DD 2515"s and 10,000 rms..... I sat in there like it was nothing. And my Team mate Bret does a 157+ on music and I ride in there with no problem. "no problem"....time will tell. I mean like........ I can sit there and take it.... I know it's causing problems. O well Is it really worth it though?

Welcome to the IHoP
For real. Just installed 2 12" Q's in my buddies Escape (build log this weekend) and I don't know how you could daily that. It's just too loud. That was only off 500w a piece, picking up a 1500D here soon for it. Left the pics at home....should have the log up on Friday.

Single 12 xcon + BJ fisher box
Seeing as you have owned the Icon and Xcon, what would you say the pros and cons are of both? Which type of person would you recommend the Icon to and the Xcon? (Budget is not an issue) Nice video by the way.

just a question about what bass song i should use?
this is what i am working with: 2 15" fi q's w/o options 1 sealed box 2.5 ft per chamber hifonics bruts 2000 08 model and my car is a tiny mazda protege 4 door....so no i can't fit the right sized ported box in my small trunk!! done the big 3 2 yellow tops! That really doesn't help us at all. He's referring to how it will sound in your vehicle will sound completely different in someone else's. So it's up to you to listen to them and decide.
