  1. It would be like comparing the Q to the BL. Although the Q and the Havoc have their differences, they are rather comparable. The BL will be best suited for SPL and rap where if your goal is a SQ oriented system, you'd be better off with the Havoc.
  2. What's the deal with that midbass? ETA?
  3. I usually have Lowe's cut my sheet down into 2-4 smaller sheets (I lay my cuts out on sketch-up) so it's easier to work with. Plus they do it for free! Can't beat that.
  4. Says who!? From the sub's ive heard generally the larger the diameter the lower the sound It just varies from install to install. The reason you think that is probably because the larger woofer was louder, but the actual sound from the driver is more box dependent than anything.
  5. I'm not Irish in the least, but HAPPY ST. PATTY'S DAY!

When you set your gain on your amp you have your gain knob (in cabin) set at max. This allows you to turn the gain down from the cabin, but not to turn it up past it's maximum setting. So if I turn my gain knob down and my sub is making barely ANY sound, you're telling me it's still getting xthousand watts? I think Johnecon knows what he's talking about.

I, personally, would buy a refurb from Chris any day of the week. He WILL not screw you over. The amps he sells are as good as new.
  9. WOAH. More pics, please.
  10. Looks purdy! Also, where those amps burnt on the bottom side??
  11. what? I think he means you can power more speakers with the amp. Passive will be fine if you're looking for a daily driver or SPL vehicle. If you plan to acquire a SQ World Championship, you might want to start looking to go active.
  12. Finally an "SSA Regular" after nearly 1.5 years!
  13. I'd like to celebrate my 1000th post at the HOP! It's been a long time coming!

Could have been due to some sort of imperfection that just slowly got worse. Or a VERY small crack that happened during shipping or something that just got worse. I've only seen this happen to like 3 Fi woofers, but Fi ALWAYS has taken care of them. I doubt it's anything you did.
  15. I know this is not the right place, but the word of canceling the 1500 sparked my interested. Do you have any plans for a 500-700watt class D?

  17. What is your stock electrical look like? Alt, battery, big3?

Going to be hot in that black shirt ...unless you got some secret sundown shirt!
  19. I don't remember what their reasoning was. I just remember them basically saying stuff like, "OMGZZZ YOU NEED FUSES!!!"
  20. That seems illogical since larger enclosures have higher efficiency. Smaller boxes have a larger peak which may make them SEEM SPL oriented. I would agree with this here. You don't see many competitors running tiny, little ported boxes. The downfall of the larger enclosure is a decrease in power handling.
  21. The BL is actually rated at 1000w. I would feel a little shaky about putting that PLUS 800w on it. I'd get the 1200 and get the BL fully loaded.
  22. My "local" shop carries Boston. They really try to push the fused thing on me when I go.
  23. One of those easier said than done things. It will take time to get it right, but with time you can do it!
  24. The primary reason for going active is to allow you to tailor your system for you SQ needs. I can't see a point in running multiple drivers. A headunit that is active capable will allow you to set your crossover points and your slopes at the headunit. An active capable amplifier will allow you to set your points at the amp, and a processor will allow you to do so there.
