Welcome to the IHoP
Just got the internet up in my new place. My place is f'ing sweet. It'll be even sweeter when Nebraska Furniture Mart gets my TV and entertainment center in from being on backorder in 2 weeks. Seriously, if chicks don't come flocking it must be......... well, nothing. They should just come flocking. It's going to look like a sophisticated bachelor pad.

Welcome to the IHoP
That's what I'm going to do. I'll just use my TV wall mount. It takes some fairly hefty screws though, so I'll be making some decent sized holes. But my center channel weighs about 50 lbs so I'll need them. I totally overdid it with the 3/4" MDF! But it was just what I had lying around and I didn't realize it would be that heavy. Thanks for the option though.

Subwoofer Problem!
Since you have a DMM, measure the resistance of the voice coils. If they don't read what they should, it's blown. Subs don't all blow in the same fashion.

Frontend System
Moved to a more appropriate forum since it has nothing to do with Fi. How much do you want to spend? What kind of car do you have?

5/8 MDF Instead Of 3/4, Wrong Wood @ Home Depot
It will be fine. Might just throw in an extra brace or two to be sure.

Will my FI "Q" 12 do better w/different amp?
Those JBL BP amps are solid enough. You will gain nothing.

which 18" subs would you choose?

Amp & Sub hooked up, no output???
I merged your threads.

Blown BTL
Yeah, I'm afraid you aren't as responsible as you think. After a year it is no longer a manufacturer defect. You simply had too much power on it.

garbage 15s
Those probably aren't as much subwoofers as just woofers. I doubt you'll get much <40 hz playing out of them, even in top physical condition. So if you were wanting them for that application, you are probably wasting your time.

which 18" subs would you choose?
I would choose subs that would give the amp the 1 ohm load it likes. Putting it at .5 for daily just lowers the life expectancy. Four 18s is going to be loud no matter what subs you choose. So may as well start with more non-SPL oriented drivers. What is your budget?

orion h2 system 15"
Ditch any caps. Replace with actual batteries. You'll need at least one additional battery. What is your budget for front speakers?

Sundown 50.4 Crossover
Doesn't channels 3 + 4 have a subsonic filter? You can set the lowpass to 3,000 hz or whatever you want up there, then set the subsonic to 60 hz or whatever as your highpass.

flapping noise out of port?
What are the specs on the ports and box, and what subs are they, what amp? Is this the first time you've used the subs?

Running a Stetsom under 1 ohm daily
I thought those amps weren't supposed to be run daily anyways

Welcome to the IHoP
Does anybody have a good design for a structure to raise my center channel above my TV? I bought a tv wall mount about a year ago and used that for a bit in this place, but my new place doesn't want any holes in the walls. Maybe it would help once I got my entertainment center. Although if I go that route, maybe it would be best for me to get an easy color to match. Like straight black. Hmm, or maybe have Ryan2 build me a huge honkin' entertainment center for my 47-50" TV that has sides and a top built into it to hold the center channel above the TV. What do you think it would cost for something like that Ryan? Something like this: http://www.nfm.com/DetailsPage.aspx?ProductID=25625401 only obviously able to fit a 50" or so TV. Or would that thing just be too big and awkward looking?

Port Wars frequency testing
Well at the tuning frequency is when the most sound is coming out of the port instead of the front of the sub. The sub is moving the least at that point, but the air from the port is moving the most (relative to the rest of the frequency spectrum that the sub will be playing). So the air inside the box is doing more work at that point, and perhaps that means more pressure inside. With this laid out I wonder if smaller boxes would be better for port wars. Less volume to pressurize inside the box. I'd think there would also be an ideal port size. Too large of a port would allow the box to depressurize too easily, but too small of a port may not let all of the pressure out at the same time due to the airflow restriction.

The real moving begins tomorrow. I hate moving. But a bit excited for the new beginning.

Wiring Icon D2 Sub in Parallel to SAE-1000D? Also, amp settings
It depends on the tuning frequency of the box, there is no set value. Reason being that the frequency that the subsonic is at is the -3db point, not the point at which the rolloff begins. So, since an octave is a doubling or halving of frequency and as you increase frequency octaves grow in size, you can't use a specific number. It has to be relative to the tuning frequency. But for most boxes, since they're mostly tuned in the 30-35 range, 5 hz below tuning frequency is fine.
