The difference between the current pulled by an amp doing 1k @ 4 and 1k @ 1 is not usually going to be significant assuming that both are of the same topology and well designed and built. Getting louder and having more range in the subs are polar opposites. You can only change your box to get one or the other. If you tune higher you'll get louder, but if you tune lower to get more notes, you'll lose SPL. If you lower your box size but don't increase power or tune, you'll lose SPL. Your only option here would be to create interchangeable ports, one for daily that's tuned lower and one for comps that's tuned to 45 or something. So we'll start with what notes are you missing? The lows?

Yeah, but that just has to do with the amplifier. You can get a 1000 watt @ 1 ohm amp and a 1000 watt at 4 ohm amp and you still have 1000 watts either way. 4 ohms pulls less power from the electrical system than 1 ohm, but if you can get 1000 watts out of an amp either way, it doesn't matter.

after doing hardly any physical activity all summer, I ran 2.2 miles last night. I've been sitting in training for the last two weeks and have hardly moved, so I figured I needed to do something. Plus it was a nice day (almost 60 degrees) so it was good. But man my legs aren't loving it so much today, ha. My calves tried to cramp every time I moved for about 2 hours after I got done. Today is supposed to be magnificent, 81 degrees! a little windy, like 15-20 mph, but it's kansas so can't get away without it. Too bad I'll be stuck inside all day for training and then even when I come home I'll be stuck inside studying for my exam tomorrow . But tomorrow afternoon......FREEDOM! Gonna go play basketball for the first time in like 6 months. I'm so excited.
