  1. So it would be a center divider with a whole in the middle? Err, perhaps just call it a brace. haha that made me laugh
  2. I understand that you're going to try mounting upside down, and that's fine (as I have previously mentioned). I just wanted to point out that you most likely won't be redoing your settings every other day, right? I mean once you pop the grill covers off when you first mount it, set the crossovers and gain where you want it, and put the grill back on, then you shouldn't have to worry about it for..... life, right?
  3. No difference in sound, but definitely a difference in dynamic capability. Low depth = low excursion which means low output at low frequencies. Many "slim" subs are better off being used as a midbass although there are exceptions. Personally I would avoid them if I could. This is true. I guess right now I have SI's Mag and BM on the mind, but those aren't true slim subs. Although I suppose, if you built the right box, you could have decent enough low end extension with a slimline sub in relation to the rest of the FR that the sub plays. But you'd probably be limited to about 110 db out of it due to cutting the upper frequencies so much Plus if you needed that big of a box to help the lowend, wouldn't that be defeating the purpose of a slim sub? But yeah slim subs are generally limited to 10-12 mm excursion, which doesn't help lowend at all.

morning. I just had a HUGE bowl of cereal. it was at the end of the box and I thought there was less in there. But I kept pouring and kept justifying it by thinking the end has to be near. But it wasn't until the bowl was entirely full. Count Chocula
  5. Why is that? With reversed polarity? you don't reverse polarity in one sub if you run common chamber.
  6. Slim subs generally will not be SPL beasts. They are generally for lower wattage applications (1000 watts or under). There is no difference in sound.
  7. tuning is the same with slot ports as it is for round ports. If you have 20 sq. inches of round port that needs to be 10" long to tune to 35 hz, 20 sq. inches of slot port will also need to be 10" long to tune to 35 hz.
  8. this is making my head hurt.
  9. I'D GO 2 BLS
  10. Well, don't have to believe me. But maybe you'll believe http://www.bcae1.com/. Click on item 101 on the right side and scroll down to the paragraph starting "If, in a regulated power supply....." JL modified from the traditional designs so that the 1000.1 would put out that power at all ohm loads. It's not the most typical thing. That way they wouldn't have to design a different amp to handle the impedences all their subs can run at. They can say "A W7 with single 3 ohm coil? JL 1000/1! Two W6's with a 4 ohm load? JL 1000/1! Two W3s with a 2 ohm load? JL 1000/1!"
  11. ok, if you blow up a GAS planet, what debris is going to be raining fire down onto the earth to kill people? And you also realize that it would take several lifetimes for anything to get from there to here, so....... Not to mention that if people think global warming is bad now, wait until we have two suns. Plus living on Titan with Saturn as a sun would be like living on a planet even closer to our sun than Mercury. How would you survive the heat? I don't really know how you can believe that. I wouldn't call the person who did that a god, I'd call him a dumbass.
  12. you can mount them upside down, I just think it would probably be better if you could get some fans to run over them. As I was reading I had the same idea as bigjon about hanging a ledge from the back deck so you could mount them right side up. But then you run into the problems with the top mounted controls. Do you have rear speakers? If not, maybe you could mount them so that the amp controls were right through the rear speaker holes.

again, there is no bridging. it's a mono amp. bridging occurs between 2 separate channels. I really think you should heed the advice of others on here and drive to a shop where somebody can look at it and hook it up for you.

That's what I meant in my above post. I wasn't doubting you . He just asked again as if he either missed it or didn't understand.

I just saw a poll that said 90% of blacks are voting for Obama. Either blacks are more Democratic by nature/culture or a lot of them are just excited about having a black person on the ballot. He also has about 75% of Latinos. *not being racist, just stating what I see* Mccain, though, has like 70% of the 65+ age group. I guess they identify with him. And I think he only leads the white vote by by 1%, 46-45 or something like that.

I've heard headaches can also be caused by a bra that's too tight. Is yours too tight, Aaron?
  17. That is actually incorrect. Regulated power supplies routinely double rated power for every halve in impedence. What regulated power supplies do is provide a constant output no matter what the input voltage is. So that JL 1000/1 is going to put out 1000 watts no matter if your car's voltage is at 14, 12, 10, etc. It will just pull more current when the voltage is low to keep the output power the same. An unregulated power supply, on the other hand, changes output power in relation to input voltage. So that memphis may put out 900 watts at 10 volts, 950 at 12 volts, and 1000 at 14 volts.
  18. Jim does too. At least I'm pretty sure he puts smiley faces in about 98% of his posts, haha.

it doesn't matter, it's a mono amp. Those two outputs are wired together right inside the terminals. You can use any of them.
  20. It's kind of hard to tell tones from text... alot of people don't relise this when they are sarcastic or joking... Most sarcasm is taking from the tone of which you say, same with joking I know I probably should. I've actually been told that my sarcasm and jokes are hard to pick up in real-life conversations because my visible and audible emotions don't change much. So I'm sure that carries over to online, too. Which, I don't know if that is the mark of a good sarcastic/joke remark or a bad one. hmm.....
  21. All right, very good. Just don't want to have any kind of feud!

Watch out for Michael Crabtree in the NFL. His hands are glue. And as Texas found out, it doesn't matter if you double cover him either.

I certainly respect them after last week.

    Shouldn't be a problem.
