Glassing
I use winISD as well. It looks ok. Sealed isn't as much of a hassle as ported.

Few questions,
do you have the dual 2 or dual 4 ohm voice coils? Since it seems loudness is all you are going for, try a ported box tuned to 35 hz or so. It will be about twice as big as the box they are in now, though.

on axis? off axis?
It is safe. The mid and tweeter are on two completely different circuits once the signal gets past the input on the crossover.

Welcome to the IHoP
yep, another bad night's sleep. Wish I had thursday and friday off this week for fall break like my gf. and dammit, I always come on here in the mornings and read shit instead of eat my cereal and it makes me late to work by 2-3 minutes. Luckily nobody there really watches for me.

Blown Fi 15" Q
With as much distortion as that thing was probably playing I'm surprised you liked it so much

DVC to dual amps
Actually, each amp would have seen 2 ohms if he had a dual 2 ohm sub and wired one amp to each voice coil. and Rattlz, thank goodness you know about the gain being there to match the voltage from the head unit. You have no idea how many new people we get on here that have no idea about that. However, matching the gain to the voltage is the maximum you should go with the gain. However, you can always turn it down after that matching to get less power out of the amplifier if it is too powerful for your sub, which it seems to be in this case.

dont like my new setup
x2. what do you want out of it
-
just installed a great "budget" system for a friend
Sweet, I didn't know they would like that little space. Did you ever think about covering one of the sub holes so that one 10 would get all the space?

Welcome to the IHoP
A coworker begged me to try these horseradish and whatever else laced pickles. They were real hot while you were chewing, but then nothing. No residual burning like with peppers. it was kinda weird. But then when supper time came around 4 hours later, this bad taste crept into my mouth and made me kinda ill feeling. Certainly lost my appetite, but I forced a little down anyways. I've tried milk, bread, and brushing my teeth, and there is still some lingering taste, which is making the stomach upsetness stick around. ugh. This is going to be another bad night's sleep, I can tell.

God I hated Kansas. No offense, but you're about the only cool thing I know from kansas. I'm sure there are more, but jesus was it awefull driving through there. hey, what about me? OK OK you too. I never put the KU thing together untill now =P Well, I guess I could just be uncool, too. That would eliminate me from your list.

on axis? off axis?
anything at 45 degrees from you would be off axis. Only basically staring straight into the speaker is on axis. If you have the tweeter swiveled or mounted so that it's pointed at your head, it would be on axis, 0 degrees. If that tweeter (I assume you're talking about the driver's side) is pointing straight across to the passenger side's A-pillar, then you'd be approximately 45 degrees off axis when sitting in the driver's seat.

Resin in box?
If you have tested it with and without and not noticed a difference in your SPL numbers, doesn't that answer your own question? But for more info, look in this thread: http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/i...c=22166&hl=

Welcome to the IHoP
Same bullshit job as here. And Fort Riley would be an idea, but honestly after visiting 2 years ago.........and my new NCOIC being there last.......nah i will pass. And as for the German beer, that is a draw, but going someplace where I don't pretty much immediatly go to Iraq is more of a draw. Plus I could of gone to Germany earlier this year. J Yeah......Ft. Riley sucks. Junction City (which it is near) is, IMO, the worst city in kansas. Leavenworth would be better, but you have to realize that there is a maximum security prison there. Those types of towns usually have a different air about them. However, I don't know if you have to live on the base or not, but Leavenworth is in a decent part of the state so you could take your pick from a bunch of nice places within a 30 minute drive of there. Plus it's right outside of Kansas City, so you have lots to do there. This is my neck of the woods, btw, I only live about 30 miles from Leavenworth. Hawaii would be really nice, but expensive. Median income is about 10k more than the rest of the country. Florida has good parts and bad. I'll let those who live there chime in (if anybody does, haha). I've been there once, to Orlando, and I thought it was pretty cool. All tropical and lush and exciting. But I was just visiting, so not sure how it would be living there. And it does have some pretty bad parts. I just read an article today that the panhandle of Florida is like the center of sex trafficking in the US. Where people kidnap teens mainly, gang rape and beat them, and sell them to people in other states as a sex slave. Well, that sure paints a nice picture, doesn't it. I don't know much about Alabama other than I believe it's one of the poorest states in the US.

Nasty noise!!??
does it have the sound when it's playing free air outside the box as well? What box is it in?
-
Looking for better midrange
I have no experience with them, but have you thought about horns under the dash? I like the 2" full range idea, and I also wouldn't be worried about not having a tweeter as I hate them screeching highs too.

Glassing
Have you modeled them up in some software with the box you intend on using? IIRC, those were some kinda pesky subs with regards to their frequency response and what boxes they like. But the one install I'm thinking of had one 18" and an 18" passive radiator and it was a number of years ago.

Wiring kit? What do I need to get?
with almost 3k watts and 3 amps I'd actually go bigger than 1/0. You won't find that in a wiring kit, you'll have to buy it all separately. Which sometimes works out in your favor because some kits charge extra because of the name on it or for throwing in things you don't need.

will this bumb??
sorry, too many meanings in one attempt. fail.

2010 Chevrolet Camaro
Looks all right to me. I thought it looked better in Transformers, though, but I'm not sure if it was just because it was the first time I saw it or if they changed anything. By the look of the driver in that one side-shot, I'm not going to fit in it, at least comfortably. Although I've never liked the way I've fit in either of the last two models, either. The head unit is a little space-ship looking. But unique, I guess. The speedometer and tach look pulled straight out of a 60's-70's model. I also hate the skinny side windows that these cars are coming with these days. IMO, the Challenger looks very basic, Camaro looks a little better, but the Mustang looks the best. But at the same time, I doubt I'd like to drive any of them because of the high hood in relation to where you look out. I can't stand not being able to see the road less than 50' in front of the car.

Glassing
haha internal combustion. Somebody from PG was having a clown day. As for MDF, 3/4 with glass is fine. I think fiberglass is stronger than wood anyways. Those are some pretty serious, rare, and expensive subs. Where did you find them? and what box is this that they're going in?
-
Shorted out Sub/Amp?..messed somethin up
How far back is back in the day? I had a head unit from 2000 from them that did it.
-
whats the difference
I wouldn't run a BTL on 4000 watts daily. They are great woofers, but very few can take twice their RMS. Not only that, but the two 18s would be louder not only because of the increased surface area/displacement, but because the woofers will have less power compression. the 10 cubic foot box will be more efficient, play lower, and have a more level frequency response graph. The smaller box will have more of a peak above tuning.

Welcome to the IHoP
Actually, it's pretty scary that it can go up that much, just as scary as it going down... The markets shouldn't be that volatile in either direction yeah it is. very scary to me. 2 trillion dollars made/lost in one day with those kinds of swings. That's insanity, and the world will have 0 confidence in us if that continues too much longer. Why in the world do you love the volatility vladd? You're a chaos-monger, aren't you?
