  1. Paper cones can be just as strong as basically any other cone material. It's not your everyday copy-paper type. Many subs use paper cones and have no issues. Do not count a driver out based on this.
  2. You are in the right place to start. If you have any specific questions, ask them.
  3. right down the middle. Or you can take the total outside length and the total inside length and average them (if you have a bend).
  4. Did 3 chest, 3 tricep, 40 pushups, about 100 crunches and some other ab work, and an upper shoulder lift. Had to go in a bit of a hurry today because I'm about to play 9 holes of golf. I suppose that walking will count as my cardio for the day.

Clearly you have the wrong soda machine.
  6. That's about 4.4 cubes gross. You can get a box out of that. Use a 6" aeroport too, that will help cut down on port displacement.
  7. Check the resistance of your speakers with a DMM.
  8. Do you have the subs wired in parallel and bridged? Or one to each channel?
  9. Those vents are there to equalize pressure inside and outside when you open and close your doors.
  10. I did not know that! Sorry. I learn something new everyday here! Thanks The only reason for grounding in the back near the amp is to minimize wire length and possible resistance. Remember that the negative terminal of the battery is grounded to the car's frame, and so is the metal you're grounding the amp to.
  11. They will sound different, I can guarantee you that. Whether the difference will be to your better liking is hard to say. The 12s have more cone area. But my guess is the 15s will sound louder due to the lower tune. On a meter....impossible to say.
  12. There are still dangers above tuning. There is another spike in xmax in a ported box about 10-15 hz above tuning, check it out in a modeling program.
  13. Partial ACL tear and MCL strain a little over two months ago. The first nurse on the phone after my MRI said I "basically completely tore the ACL," but when I actually went in to talk to the doctor he said there were still some strands left and it was up to me if I wanted to get the surgery. He said it may tear completely the next time I'm playing basketball, or it may be fine forever. So I guess I'm checking to see how it goes. I've never had any issues with it giving-away or anything. Hell I even played three games of basketball between the injury and getting the MRI. Not without considerable pain, but I did shoot about the best I ever have in my life over a 3 game stretch Yesterday I did two bicep lifts, three back lifts, two shoulder lifts, about 25 pullups, and 80 crunches. Then I jogged a mile, first time I have ran in about 6 weeks. I loved being able to get outside. It did fine, no extra pain while running. I'm going to rest it for a couple days now though. It has also responded very well to my lifting and workouts, seemingly getting stronger each time with only slight extra discomfort the next day that usually only lasts for an hour or two in the morning. I'm quite pleased. Of course I haven't tried any side-to-side exercises yet. But I'm putting that off for another month or two.
  14. Does the alternator have an adjustable voltage regulator? Maybe it just needs to be adjusted up?
  15. Don't be one of those guys. We don't support that behavior at SSA, and you're likely going to get fewer responses if that is your goal. Larger boxes handle less power. It will be up to you on the volume knob to determine when enough is enough.
  16. If you tune the box to 38 hz, you'll want to get a subsonic filter probably around 33-35 hz.
  17. The issue with ported boxes is that they exaggerate the lowend (30-50 hz) that the upper spectrum (60-80 hz) often appears very weak. What helps this situation is being able to apply more power during the rock songs to compensate. I'd suggest tuning a ported box to 35 hz and getting an amplifier with a remote gain knob. Then, set the gain on the amp with rock songs. This will likely cause you to turn the gain a little higher than if you were setting it with a rap song, so you'll have to realize that when you do play rap, you'll have to adjust the remote gain a little lower. Normally ported boxes have an xmax high about 10 hz above tuning, then slope down after that. So you just aren't getting the excursion at 70 hz that you will be at 40 hz with the rap songs, so a little extra power will boost it (but remember to stay within the thermal limits of the sub).
  18. Today I did 5 leg lifts, all with medium-low weight. Ab exercises between each different lift, tried to really work them today. Then biked 4 miles.
  19. I vote 12"Q sealed.
  20. You definitely need more port area. I'm with sefugi in that I wonder who told you 29 sq. inches was sufficient in the first place? Though if they're aeroports that helps.
  21. Those artists don't dig that low, plus with it being a mediocre 8", I'd say tune it to 38-40 hz. Size....hard to say. Maybe .8 cubes or so. You could even go a little bigger since you have a lower powered amp. Only thing is that you'll really have to be careful with anything below tuning, I'd highly recommend a subsonic filter (I'm guessing the amp you have doesn't come with one). Port length depends on port area and box size. Find a tuning calculator and figure it out. A single 3" port would probably suffice, I doubt that sub moves much.
  22. I've always used www.digikey.com. I've used them several times and they have a good selection and the transactions have always been flawless.

Probably "Candy Stripper- 7 online porn sites for $6.99 a month." I'm sure it will say Fi car audio 15" BL or whatever. Why, what are you trying to hide?
  24. I'd say 80-100 sq. inches.
  25. Did three chest lifts, three tricep lifts, military press, about 40 pushups, some ab stuff, and 2 quick miles on the bike.
