Need help with ported 2 15Q
but you have to remember that taking out the port displacement lowers your box volume down to that 5.79 cubic feet. So plug that into your box volume now on winISD. your port will change again, it will get longer. You have to just keep subtracting the new port volume from the box volume you entered until they add up to your overall box volume.

Need a receiver
I have a Pioneer, it gets the job done.

D1 vs D2 and series vs parallel wiring
you basically just wire the sub to match your amp. If you have a 2 ohm optimized amp and have a sub with dual 4 ohm coils, you'll wire the coils in parallel to the amp. Conversely, if you have a 4 ohm amp and a dual 2 ohm sub, you would wire the coils in series. I try to wire in parallel if possible but it's not a big deal to wire in series. Really not much difference.

HT subwoofer enclosure
I just plugged the parameters into winISD and the box it comes out recommending is 11.5 cubes tuned to 17 hz. The response is pretty ruler flat down to 20 hz. If that's too big, 6 cubs is pretty good too and pretty flat to 30 hz with the same tune.

Is a 12" enough?
ported 12 definitely.

dual 12" Fi Q's in a ported box
yes that box would work. It seems pretty solid to me, he actually put a double baffle on front and I've never seen that on an ebay box. Just email him and make sure he used 3/4" MDF and not something smaller. If you have the tools you can make a box for less. shipping is murder on that too.

first question
you basically want to get as large of an alternator as you can. If you think about the power your amplifiers put out and how much current they need to produce that power you'll understand. 6000 watts / 14 volts = 428 amps that it would pull with 100% efficiency. Factor in that your amp may only be 80% efficient and they'll pull 535. That's just for the amps, not to mention the at least 60 your car probably needs. However, this isn't to say you need to find some way to fit 600 amps worth of alternator under your hood. You'll just have to deal with voltage drop if you don't have enough current. But you get the basic idea that the more, the merrier. I would say you should get at least a 200 amp alt, but many vehicles have limitations based on size of alternator. So that's why I basically say get the largest one you can. The extra batteries will help keep the voltage from dropping below 12 once the alternator's juice is used up, and ideally you'd like to not go below 12 too far. One or two more batteries should do.

9500 VS XXX
should be MTX. 84.1 db efficiency vs. 83.8. But the XXX can handle twice as much so it can get louder with more power.

Plus I don't know why Audio-neon was thanked for his contribution when he showed a video of exactly what I said (no offense to you, audio-neon).

Welcome to the IHoP
I use this bear-b-que seasoning stuff and I love it. I'm not sure where my roommate got it though. I put it on everything. Steaks, brisket, hamburgers, pork chops, chicken.....

few pics of my system
You could upfire the subs and attach the amps to the box in either the front, back, or both.

SQ application/Question
Well that's why both myself and vladd tried correcting him, but apparently we didn't give respectable answers. I was pretty sure he meant IB as well. But he asked what free air would look like so I answered. I'm not trying to be an ass but he repeatedly asked about free air even though we tried to steer him to the correct terminology so that people wouldn't get confused. Plus in his first thread he was talking about trunk space limiting his size of driver, and the suggestions for sizes he gave aren't even necessarily the lowest you could go with IB in that trunk. So I don't know if really he meant sealed since he was worried about enclosure size?

wiring help
yeah they're 4 ohm SVC. That means you can wire one sub to the bridged channels 1 & 2 and the other sub to the bridged channels 3 & 4. Look in your amplifier manual to find out which output terminals on the amp you use to bridge. You'll also have to have RCAs in both the front and back inputs. You should be able to just use a couple y-splitters so that you only have to run one RCA cable from the head unit back to the amp.

Welcome to the IHoP
Went to the Royals game tonight and because they scored in the 7th inning I can redeem my ticket for a free hot fudge sundae at Sheridan's (frozen custard place). yessss I was also thinking about getting one of those little rafts to tool around the small lakes and stuff around here in. Just with paddles, probably, though most of them will accept up to a 4 hp motor (huge, I know!). I was thinking one of those like 11' ones with 2 seats, say they can fit 4 people. What do you think, worth it? They're only between 1-300 dollars depending on the style. Seems like it would be better than always fishing from the shore, anyways, until both my budget gets into the range of a real boat and I don't live in an apartment so I actually have somewhere to put it. Just gotta watch those hooks!

SQ application/Question
You don't like my answer? It was serious and correct, so I'm not sure what you're upset about. A free air setup has no enclosure. Just sitting a speaker in your trunk is seriously considered free air. Now if you're thinking about infinite baffle, that's a different story, and I alluded to that in my first reply.

eD 13Av.2 or Fi Q
So are you saying you own both or you just talking out your ass like everyone else here? Thought so... Again i seriously doubt anyone in this thread owns a 13av.2...you would never stoop so low as to purchase an ED product correct? So how did you get one if you refuse to buy any of their products? I don't need to have heard a 13av.2 to recommend against it. To me the integrity of the company is worth as much as the product. I don't care if that sub is the best speaker in the world, I still wouldn't buy it.

Enclosure Fabrication
I think it will be fine. Many people have done totally fiberglass enclosures. Just brace it a little and it will be fine. Remember that curves add strength to fiberglass enclosures so it's good for them to have some shape to them.

maybe you need to check your AC for problems if its only cooling to 83 degrees. That or your house is like a sieve.

Welcome to the IHoP
Today is my last day at my job of 2.25 years (quitting on good terms, this was just a temporary thing, my boss has been encouraging me to look for other jobs for the last 6 months). My boss has something planned for me at 3. Hmm......I'm a bit nervous. One of my other coworkers just sent me an email asking "What is this Bob's school thing planned at 3?" I said I have no idea, my boss gave me no details. What's Bob's school? been trying to think of what it might be, or what it might be a play on words for.

area of a circle is pi*r^2. Then you multiply by the length to get port volume.

18 btl:: not moving air but...
I guess you could push your car around listening to it then?

also, you can change the t/s specs in winISD. They aren't set in stone.
