I just asked my girlfriend to do this like last week. I'm not talking like full on arguments, nobody really wants those. Just little debates, like why gas is high, why I think my way of doing something is better, war in Iraq, etc. She always just says she doesnt' want to talk about it. I think she's afraid I'll make her feel foolish, worried about being wrong, or something. But that's not my intention, I just like to share ideas and have intelligent conversations. I know she's smart, she just doesn't want to use it I guess. she said she'd try.
  2. I was kinda thinking similar. I didn't really know what that was. It seems more like a horn than a BP, and the ported section may have acted more like a leaky ported box. You might also not want the woofer to fire into a corner on the opposite wall. I'd think you'd want it firing either 90 or 180 degrees from the port.

Bitch! You get a job, gold digger!
  4. your stock speakers may not be either. active and passive refers to the crossovers used. Active uses powered electronic crossovers (like on your amp or head unit), passive uses capacitors, inductors, etc., in a circuit. They're like what you get if you buy a set of 6.5" components and they come with the little crossover boxes that you plug the input wire into and it has an output for the tweeter and mid. Both are good, I'd say active is better because it's more easily controllable and adjustable. Passive is generally cheaper, though. So back to your F150, I say it may have neither because many stock systems just stick the speaker in the door and hook it up to the factory head unit without any crossovers on it at all.

I say this because I WAS you. And I went about changing the wrong way, and you sound close to it. "Nice" guys finish last because they do not express what they want. Be it fear or out of a show of respect to women or anything else. Almost every nice guy I know isn't nice to themselves and ends up unhappy and unsatisfied as they will go out of their way to make everyone else comfortable, and never ever concern themselves about their needs or wants. That only leads to one thing and that's resentment self destructive behavior and probably being a real shiz head. I chose to be a shiz head for a few months... I don't want to see anyone else do that. Nice guys should finish first, but they also need to be honest. Weather you want to admit it or not, you were'nt honest with this girl. You wanted more, but she wasn't down with that. So you stayed, basicaly saying it's ok, when really it's not. I hope it works out for you man! You actualy do sound like a good guy... just what ever you do don't get down on yourself, and start bringing up your standards for youself. Good call on getting rid of the baggage though. Sometimes you gotta clean house of the crap people in it. I agree. Don't get down on yourself and you have to be un-nice sometimes. I was the same way, still sorta am. But if something is bothering you, you have to say something. Most girls don't want a guy that will cater to their every want, always agree with them, etc., they'll start thinking of you as something like a slave instead of an equal partner. But with that said, you also have to realize when a girl isn't right for you. If she makes out with you friend, it seems to me that either she didn't think you two were very serious or she did and didn't care anyways. If it's the latter, you don't want her anyways. Those kinds of girls won't change, at least not during high school and college years. Find a girl that doesn't play games. at all. Don't stand for them, they're immature. And don't buy that "I was drunk" bit. As my friend says, who's had both years of drinking and years totally without it, if somebody does it while drunk, they're thinking it other times while sober.
  6. the ported 15's with more power would likely be louder, especially if you tune semi-high. or have switchable ports, one for everyday driving and another for when you compete that's tuned even higher.

niiiiiice. She just your date or possibly turn into gf too?
  8. then do you just use caulk to seal around the wires? yes.
  9. I just pass the wires straight through the box then seal up the hole around them. then you don't have to dink with terminals.
  10. make sure your outputs aren't being jumped across by stray wires or that the ends of the wires aren't touching each other if you just have them laying around.

KU had their graduation today, and couldn't really ask for better weather for people to walk in. 80 degrees, no wind, lots of sun. My friend had his grad party at my house, we grilled up a bunch of stuff. hot dogs, brats, hamburgers, and my T-bone and damn it was good. so tender and juicy, it was ridiculous.

just to cover some bases........Is the box sealed well besides the port? Having an airleak will make it sound bad, usually like a tapping or rattling while being quieter as well. Is there a bass boost on anywhere (either on the amp or the head unit)? does your head unit have a low pass crossover for the sub that's on? You can try putting stuff inside the box to take up space to see if that's the problem. bricks, wood, etc. how do you have the box oriented? You couldn't just be hearing rattling from your car trunk or lift gate?
  13. it really depends on what 6.5 you get whether it can fit or not. I got some old Kenwood 6.5" components (the ones with the neo magnet) for my dad's f150 and they fit in the holes. but JL Audio XR 6.5's baskets are wider and did not fit in the holes in my explorer and I had to make rings. The bad part is that you'll have to make something anyways because whether you use 5.25s or 6.5s you'll still have open area around the speaker since it will be going into an oval. I'd say measure the cross section of the 5x7 holes then compare to the speakers you are looking at. Most of them list the basket/mounting width in the speaker manual.
  14. After our 3rd roommate moved out I finally got to realize my dream and have a dedicated HT room. Unfortunately only a couple months later another guy moved in, so I had to move all my stuff back downstairs to the living room. Then less than 2 months later that guy moved out, but I have yet to move it back into that room because it's had to be used for furniture storage and plus we may be moving out of this townhouse sometime soon so it would just be extra effort to move it all up and down the stairs again. and my sub box is very unlight. Equipment: Pioneer Receiver, forget the model number and too lazy to go look. LCR- 8" Dayton Reference, 6" Dayton reference, I think 1" Dayton classic tweet. The 8" is in 1 cube tuned to I think 50 hz, 6" is sealed, maybe .25 cubes, I forget. Surrounds- 2x 7" Vifa MG and Peerless soft dome tweet (they used to be my mains in 2 channel, which is why they're kinda overbuilt). Each box is 1 cube tuned to 65 or something like that Subs- 2x Crossfire BMF 12's powered by 500 watt plate amp. I think they're in 5 cubes tuned to 25 hz. Sorry for the grainy pics. the LR have an aeroport on the bottom and the surrounds use a slot port on the bottom. The sub box is underneath the TV. Nevermind the couch, my grandma was getting new furniture and being the poor college student I was decided to pick it up. It's probably 30 years old. Beats the old and worn out loveseat I had. Maybe I should get a cover for it someday........ These were all really my first ventures into HT and I decided to just dive right in. I'm sure I made some mistakes to stay cheap (like buying premade crossovers) or for whatever reason I was thinking that day (buying 6" for the mids up front instead of something smaller, but I went by the frequency response graphs and for some reason the 6" looked better), but I think it sounds spectacular and can get loud as hell. Sometimes my roommate likes to come home drunk and blast it, waking me up. My room is upstairs from the setup and even with the door closed it sounds like there is a concert in my room. and my body can still feel the bass. Now I just need a room worthy of it again. Our living room has a nice tv, 50" LCD, but I'm not about to hang my 50+ lb center channel above it. So unfortunately we only have 4.1 in there right now, and not having the center channel really messes it up for movies. It just sounds so much better and images so much better. That room is very oddly shaped, so the left surround actually has to be in front of the listener, amongst other things. Ugh. I need a basement.
  15. They're not awesome. My dad manages a tire shop and he's heard a lot from people that have been around these and they all say they're not worth it. They're very expensive, I think something like 1000 per. And they ride like crap, they're very stiff. if you break one you obviously have to pony up for the full thing instead of just replacing the tire or whatnot. pneumatics are still the best for this application.
  16. I would generally agree unless you get a good warranty. I think Napa has a deal where you give them your old alternator when it goes bad and they sell you a remanufactured one for a pretty good deal, but then you also have a lifetime warranty on that alt. I did that on my old car and the alt was good for a couple years before I sold it.
  17. yeah I was thinking you meant spider. and as helotaxi said, probably not fixable since kicker isn't reasonable with their reconing. sorry man. If you have any kicker dealers around you, you might call or go to their shop and see if they have a recone kit. You might get lucky.
  18. some head units have menu options in them on how to control the outputs. Some have a subout on/off, maybe it has some kind of variable/fixed output option as well. Have you looked through the manual?
  19. can you post some pictures? The coil is made of metal, so I doubt it's really what's ripped. If something really is ripped you probably won't be able to fix it as it will require a complete recone. and unfortunately Kicker is probably the only place that has recone kits for it, especially since it's square.
  20. I'd upgrade the alternator. Not sure about ebay stuff, but if it were me I'd get one with a warranty.

  22. How come Sundown puts their name and model number facing opposite directions on the amps? and what does the rockford power? I assume the 100.4 is for your front stage

yeah I was going to say that I figure it's counted as income too and just used income tax. basically lumped in with your income, although may be on a different line on your W2.
  25. are your rear tires scraping the inside of the wheel well with all that weight back there?
