Welcome to the IHoP
I just bought call of duty 3 a few weeks ago when I was in Game stop dickerpucking around for something new. (hehe). but I love it. I've had a couple Medal of Honor games, but COD is better. I might just have to go back through and buy 1 and 2 as well, then go on to 4 once I beat all those and the price is hopefully down by then. I don't play online though. I just like to play with myself. I mean by myself.

Budget Setup Suggestions
John I would have to disagree with your statement of stock speakers not being SQ. Stock setups aren't always that bad, and to prove this point a guy I knew took a VW Beetle and kept the speakers stock but added some EQ power and he got 3rd at USACi finals a few years ago. With that budget I would probably go used. Unless you can get the new D2 like they're talking about, as I'd recommend that as well. But you should be able to get a 600-1000 watt class D on ebay for 200 or so. The Sundown they recommend would work as well, I just don't know much about it. As for subs, you could go on ebay and find some older subs at steals of prices. Things like older JL Audio W3's, Orion XTR pro's, Crossfire BMF's, RE audio SE's, etc. You could probably get 2 of those 12's for 150. Just make sure they're in good shape. Or you could go with a one sub setup and step up to something a little more beefy. Also, if you can build your own box, definitely do that. It'll end up costing you 30 dollars at most. and as they said, I would go sealed as well.

Welcome to the IHoP
I do that sometimes at mine. But it's usually to help offset my 6 hour days when I just can't stand to be in front of my computer anymore.

Ha, probably not the kind of bike you were thinking. This is of the Fred Flinstone variety. and it's nothing special.

box problem for a 85 cutlass...too close?
my friend had a car like that, I forget the year but it was close. Anyways he had 4 12's straight across the back in a sealed box and......yeah it got loud enough. They were only Orion XTR's too.

New Box Design + calculations=aren't adding up.. PICS
get winISD. www.linearteam.dk. I use the pro version. so very simple. It just doesn't give you cutout dimensions, but with 2 minutes and a little brain power you can figure those out. To change between rectangle and round port just click on the port shape.

far freeking out
were you turning the gain knob from where it had the highest number to where it had the lowest number? So if your gain goes from 8 to 0 you turned down towards the 0?

Welcome to the IHoP
stupid weatherman this morning said it would be sunny all day today and only getting partly cloudy by 8-9 pm, so I rode my bike thinking that sounded like an awesome day. Apparently he didn't realize that a huge storm would cover 1/2 of kansas and be here in lawrence by 1:00. thanks. Now I'll get to test out how my tires do in wet driving conditions I guess.

What options should I get on SSD

3000 Watt boss amp powering my 18" Bl
Even better are the old Orion HCCA and G4 amps. They'd be rated at say 2 x 25 @ 4 ohms, but they were .5 ohm stereo, 1 ohm bridged stable. If you double power all the way down that would be 1 x 400 @ 1 ohm bridged. But it would actually put out 600. Or the 2 x 100 @ 4 ohm amp that would put out about 2k at 1 ohm bridged.

3000 Watt boss amp powering my 18" Bl
is that 3000 watts rated RMS or listed as max? probably does 2/3 of rated rms. or 1/3 if that's a max rating.

Welcome to the IHoP
lost our city league basketball game by 65 tonight. jesus. these dudes were seriously probably 25-28 on 3 pointers. I have played a lot of basketball in my time and I've never seen anything like it. I guess that's what we get for playing in the #1 league. We signed up for #2 (less awesome/serious teams) but apparently there weren't enough teams in that one so they bumped us up. great, thanks guys. 'preciate it.

Welcome to the IHoP
I hope some of you were amused at my post and not just mad that I wasted 5 minutes of your time. ha. I guess I'm just a pretty intrinsic person and I dont' like somebody yacking in my ear. I never go into something totally uninformed and usually know what I want and have specific questions if I have any.

Welcome to the IHoP
yeah basically. I have that whole "girlfriend has another year of school left so trying to stick around till she gets done" thing going on. Been looking at some state jobs in Topeka and mostly private firms in KC area. Really don't want to work in Olathe/OP/Lenexa/etc, though. Too big and busy for me. Sean- ............... I don't remember any off the top of my head. I mean usually at stores like Home Depot and the like they're ok, but those aren't really salesmen, just helpers who will lead you to things and explain to you what you need to know. But they don't get paid on commission so they aren't bred to be a-holes. My buying experience for my Explorer was a nightmare. I hated my old car so bad because it would die sometimes when I was turning corners. Felt like I was in a death trap, and I wanted to unload it so badly. Nobody could figure out what was wrong and I was tired of throwing money at it. I liked this Explorer and started the paperwork and was due to pick it up the next day. I asked them to check out the muffler because it sounded like it had a hole in it (translation, i KNEW it had a hole in it. It wasn't really loud, though, just kinda like small puffs of air sound.) So I asked them to look at it and replace it. "we didn't fine a hole." bs. You could hear it but it was under a heat shield on top so you couldn't get at it without taking it all off, and they weren't about to do that. I was trading in my car and the dude asked if I was taking out the stereo and I listed for him all the items I was taking out, basically everything except the rear speakers. They had me watch a video on a protective coating over the paint, interior protection, underbody coating, etc. I was like man, it's a '98. I don't need all this junk. So I go into the finance manager's office to sign my loan papers. There's a long list of charges on there, of course. One of which is 600 dollars for insurance for if it the vehicle gets totaled and I still owe more than the car is worth, they'll make up that difference. This is a 5,000 dollar car which will not go down in value quickly at all. I don't need that. The dude is like "we highly recommend it for cars of this value and type." motherpucker, that may be needed on new vehicles that are 30,000 and will drop in value to 20,000 when you drive it off the lot, but not a 9 year old, 5000 dollar vehicle! He's like "It won't lower your montly payments so it won't really do you any good to take it off." OK, moron, where will the money go then? It has to come out somewhere, either in monthly payment amount or number of payments. stop lying to me. so I finally get all the chit signed and the BS taken off, and like two days later a guy from there calls me and is like "We had written down that you said you were keeping the stereo in this car." I said no, I didn't. "Yeah, our salesman told us you said that you would leave this and this and this in the car." motherpucker, no. Read what he wrote down, because I watched him do it. "ok. bye." and then a year after I bought it one of their dudes calls me to tell me they are moving to a new location. hahahaha yeah, like i'm ever buying from you again. Jewelry store salespeople are bad too. They'll want to continue showing you things and pestering you even if you just say "i'm just browsing." "I see you're looking at that bracelet, here's 429 others like it that you may like" bitch, I wouldn't even want to talk to you if your dumb store wouldn't hide all the price tags underneath the boxes so I have to ask you to pull it out. and then you can say "I'd like to spend under 200" or whatever, and they'll show you one that's 179, then bring out one that's like 450. did you seriously not hear me say 200? last summer we had a door-to-door salesman come by wanting to sell us scotch-guard like cleaning and protection for our RENTAL APARTMENT. He stood in our door, seriously, for 30 minutes listening to me say no no no and he kept saying "are you sure?" How many times are you going to ask that before you realize that yes I'm sure? I resorted to making stuff up, like, I have to be somewhere in 20 minutes. and he was like "oh no problem, we can come in and do a little sample in that time and then come back tomorrow and do the whole thing if you like it." dammit, now I set the time frame so he can continue to stand there for 20 more minutes. I wish I could be a dick and just shut the door in his face but it's just not in me. another dude was selling magazines or some junk and I answered the door with a gatorade in my hand and he was like "Hi my name is jakcalope and I'm selling magazines for this and this. Hey, do you have another one of those gatorades?" SERIOUSLY? i'm going to give you things for while you stand there and pester me? I said I didn't want any, and they always ask if I have roommates and i say yeah and they're like are they home? no. So what they do is leave, then come back like 20 minutes later to see if the roommate has come back yet. One time the dude left his little magazine pamphlet in our house. After he realized that he left it in there, like 20 minutes later he came back for it. we saw him at the door and wouldn't open it up for him. he knocked like 32 times over about 9 minutes. we just kept watching tv even though you can see through our windows right at us. about an hour after he left we threw his pamphlet out the door. Well that was a book. sorry everybody. I get on rolls sometimes.

tears in my spider... do i need a recone?
where are the tears at, in the middle? If they're on the edge like maybe it just came unglued from the basket you could probably just reglue them down. If they are in the middle you probably will need one eventually because they'll probably get worse and widen.

Is 18 guage wire enough for highs and mids?
well that's because there were a bunch of different tones going on at once. if you just saw one simple sine wave it would be a single tone, not music which incorporates a lot of sine waves at once from all the different instruments.

Welcome to the IHoP
I actually just graduated in December with a BA in Geology and minor in business. Took me a while in school, 5.5 years. doh. But I went in as an electrical engineer but decided after one semester that it wasn't for me. So I switched to business and was in that for 2 years, thinking I wanted to be a stock broker or something like that you know, fast paced, dealing with predicting markets and such. That is, until I found out they are really basically just salesmen. and I f'ing hate salesmen (no offense to any of you in here that are. at least until you try to sell me something ). So I switched to geology because I've always liked the natural world and I found that I really enjoyed it. But I had a decision to make. Get a BA and stay only two years, or go for the BS and probably stay 3 more, possibly more, because I'd have to take a lot more and higher up gen eds than I had already completed. So I opted for the shorter route because I was already getting sick of school and getting loans to pay for it. well, now that you all know my life story, haha.

It's Nick. yours? Watched "We Were Soldiers" earlier. If you don't tear up a little at least twice I don't think you have warm blood in your heart. I wanted to watch it for action and loud and dynamic war scenes but I forgot how much it tugs at the heart strings.
