  1. Well with dual 2 ohm subs you won't be optimizing that amp. After wiring the coils in series and the subs in parallel you'll have a final load of 2 ohms on any amp you choose. If that amp does 3000 watts at 1 ohm, it will only give about 1500 at 2 ohms. So either find an amp that does ~4000 watts at 2 ohms or get two 1 ohm, 2000 watt amps and daisy chain them.

  3. You're most likely not going to get anything any louder if you stick with sealed boxes. Try one twelve ported. But that will take up about 2.5 cubes of room.
  4. But their amps put out only 1/4 the power at 4 ohms than at 1. So you would be wasting a whole lot of amplifier by running them at 4 ohms. Which is why I commented that most of the time when comparing a 4 ohm load vs a 1 ohm load on the amp, you are going to be comparing different amp topologies (apples to oranges), except for the few with regulated power supplies that do the same power from 1-4 ohms, of which there are very few. Honestly it's not going to matter at all what amp you buy for the subs as long as it's of good quality and has the power you want. The influence the sub amp has on sound is infinitesimal compared to driver choice and installation of the front speakers.

    Well I just shorted oil because it's up around $80 and can't seem to crack that for more than a day or two before going back to $70, and shorted the market because of the consumer confidence report today showing confidence took a nosedive. Hope I'm right this time, unlike when I tried this back in June/July.

  8. Explain what you mean by "I figured it would reproduce the 100hz area down in the 40 hz area." Are you saying you think it would transform the 100 hz notes into 40 hz notes? If so, no, it does not do that.
  9. Just try it out. No harm in experimenting. At least you'll have more knowledge afterwards if it doesn't work out quite right. But if it does, then you'll have both more knowledge and a good working result.

  12. That really depends. Many amps that put out maximum power at 4 ohms bridged are class A/B amps, which are definitely not easier on the car's electrical than a 1 ohm stable class D amp. A class D amp that would put out max power at 4 ohms would likely have a regulated power supply, which is arguably also worse on the electrical system.
  13. I wouldn't worry much about the d-block. If you have two 4 gauge wires going from it to the 1500D, it's fine. Changing the ground to 0 gauge is really all you need to do.

    Where is this IB'ing to? The outside world? Is there enough volume under that baffle to be IB? its just a baffle in the ski pass thing. so the rear fires into the cabin and the front into the trunk. and the rear deck is sealed. sounds very good! ah, I was wondering if that was the case.   15. If your LPF is almost all the way down, it may be too low and cutting off bass frequencies. As Duran said, try setting it to around 80 hz.

  18. If you have power going to the amp but no ground attached, that power is looking for a ground anywhere in or around the amp. If a stray wire or tool touches the amp in the wrong spot, you'll see some fireworks. If the fuse is pulled from the power wire obviously there's no problem with this. But having a live power wire plugged in is asking for trouble. But hey, if you've done it a bunch of times and never had a problem, maybe you'll keep getting lucky.

  20. Is that 1.4 ohms the actual impedance or is it the dc resistance?
  21. You should never unhook the ground with the power wire still attached, let alone then hook the ground back up to the amp. If it wasn't smoked before, it most likely is now.

    Does anybody know of a free movie editing program? All I really need to do is cut some videos taken with my digital camera down to smaller time frames. I don't know anything about video editing in the digital world. Edited some tape back in middle school when we just had the dual VCR setups and simple rewind/play-record type, haha.

  24. Stick to manufacturer's recommendation of 600 and you'll never have a problem.
  25. I take it there is no protection light on? Try using a different source for a signal to the amp, like an mp3 player. However, do not hook this up through the head unit and then to the amp. Patch it in directly to the RCAs, so you'll need a headphone jack/female RCA adapter if you unplug the RCAs behind the head unit. Or headphone/male RCA and hook straight to the amp.
