  1. If I don't need to break them in then why was it louder the second day of playing music, with the same settings? Also, where all the responses to my vids?? I want some talk in here Needing (or not needing) to break them in with some sort of patterned playing has nothing to do with the sub becoming louder the second day. The reason it got louder the second day is because it broke itself in. If you would have played it at a lower volume level the first day, it would have taken 3-4 days to break in to the point of being louder like it was the second day.

yeah that switch is off at the breaker, no worries I was actually making a joke about the stud in the middle of the door where it is now.
  3. I had a box about that size in my trunk and I flipped it forwards. I didn't notice a big change in output, though I *think* it may have been a tad louder towards the front. I didn't seal off the trunk behind the front baffle though. At any rate, my amps were mounted on the back of my enclosure so having it facing forward allowed me easier access to my amps so I left it. If you have the extra wire length to do so, may as well try it forward when you're switching it around to try the port on the other side as well.

Seriously. Just because his health care plan is going to fail since Mass. voted in a Republican Senator, he has to think of something else to try and overtake right quick.

Dammit stock market. I knew knew knew I should have sold a lot of my holdings and locked in profits last week. But I ventured outside of my strategy and held. That was stupid. Why did I even develop this strategy if I'm not going to follow it. But I figured earnings season would show promise and at least hold the market up for another week or two. I didn't think Obama would come in and sabotage the whole thing by calling for new regulations on banks and basically tell them how they can conduct their business. I guess with him I should just expect him to try and put government's finger into anything at any time. Is this guy on a quest to rule everything or what?

Somebody is going to have a surprise when they open that door and try to walk through it. Haha

Mine was not so great either. Woke up sweating again and had to actually plug in a fan, but I still stayed awake for another hour because every time I had the fan blowing I felt cold, but when I turned it off I got hot again. My thermostat is only at like 66 so it's mild in here as it is so I'm not sure why the sweats. Then I had a dream that two dudes were trying to break into my house, and when I woke up suddenly I thought it was real. Awake a bit more there. Woke up a couple more times because my body was telling me to shift positions. But then finally I'm having a good dream about these three ladies that come over and want to get it on, and my alarm goes off. Sounds like me and you have the same sleeping patterns, I woke up in a puddle of water this morning. The sheets, the clothes I was in and the bed just felt like I woke up in bath tub. I been sweating heavily in my sleep for your but Im starting to figure out what it is I think, sleeping has been my enemy all my life. I wouldnt wish insomnia on my worst enemy, this is for the birds. Well this isn't normal for me. I've always been a great sleeper. I've never had a problem staying asleep for 6-8 hours a night as long as I got to bed at a reasonable hour.
  8. That's about 3.5 cubes gross. A bit of an in-between number. Have you thought about a couple 10s ported?
  9. Measuing 3ohms if fine. It simply means the coils are a little less resistive cold, than when they have been playing for a few hours. No. Re (DC resistance) will always be lower than the nominal load (4 ohms) by about 10-25%. I just took the DMM to my dual 2 ohm sub the other day and each coil read 1.6-1.8 ohms. Very normal.

  11. What voice coil configuration did you get? The RF would be fine. As for what box, what do you listen to? What are you looking for out of the sound?
  12. Part of it depends on the box for mechanical power handling. As for thermal, it's hard to give an exact number. If it's for everyday use just get a 2000-3000 watt amp and turn it up until the sub starts stressing.

Bastard. After being foggy for 5 consecutive days, it has just been cloudy for the last two. Haven't seen the sun since.......well shit I can't even remember. Sad.
  14. Well it's just pi*r^2 * length, which for a 3/8" rod about 20" long is only 2.2 cubic inches. I don't think you'd notice that in the sound, haha.
  15. T/S parameters have the largest impact on the design of a port, if you are ever unsure that's the safest thing to design around. Explain what you mean. I assume you're talking about what tuning frequency would sound best with a given driver?
  16. Power handling does not mean a driver can play low. Are you stuck with a 6.5" for midbass or can you go up to an 8"? What is the maximum mounting depth you can have? I would also suggest a lowpass crossover on those 3" mids if you hadn't already planned one, up in the 3-5 khz range depending on your tweeters. Just like we have suggested not overlapping the midbass and mid, we wouldn't recommending overlapping the mid and tweeter.
  17. Agree with Impious. What are you going to run to cover the 150 hz and down? Do you have a midbass driver? I would not recommend running a subwoofer that high. If you don't have a dedicated midbass, I would suggest a different 6.5", one that can at least go down to 80 hz.
  18. You can put nuts on both the inside and the outside of the box and the threaded rod won't move anywhere. But I would definitely use the rod over the wood.

mm, a rare treat during the week- leftover biscuits and gravy for breakfast.
  20. If you would list what amplifier you have and how many subs you want, it would make this a LOT easier. Also telling us why they cannot connect to each other would help as well.
  21. A 12" can hit the same lows given a correct enclosure, but it is generally a little easier for the larger subs to do so. What box are the Kenwoods in now? Tuning of an enclosure is based on net volume of the enclosure, port area, and port length. There are various calculators on the web that will help you with the calculation.
  22. I hope you gave that poor car some beefier suspension, ha.
  23. Yeah, nobody does that anymore.
  24. Next time try to get it in even a close to correct forum. Moved.
