Welcome to the IHoP
But animals taste better than vegetables most of the time. And the asians are mostly little. Though less overweight, no? Though maybe half of this country's problem with obesity is lack of self control and discipline with any food, period. But mostly twinkies I think.

weird smell
my gain is set about in the middle, i set gain by ear. and my amp is rated to 500W RMS @ 4 ohms, but i dont know how much sub is actually getting :/ What brand is the amp? It could be 500w @ 4 ohm at 12.5v, 13.8v or 14.4v. Any way you slice it a true 500 watt amp is still overpowering for a 350 watt sub. Bottom line is that the sub is getting too much power.

Sub suggestions
If it's mostly for music, I would use the MJ18 and build a box that's about 6 cubes tuned to the upper 20s. Wait, you already have that. But since you're a tinkerer, may as well try sealed.

Help me build HT enclosure using 18inch Fi btl.
Yeah if this is for true HT. If you're listening to movies a lot with it, you'll be missing out on a lot of reproduction with a 35 hz tune. For a real HT, try 15 hz. But as M5 said, in that case the BTL is not the best choice. If this will just be for music, then technically it's not HT, but 35 hz would be barely acceptable. I'd still rather have a lower tune even for music in home.

Welcome to the IHoP
Well that sucks. I love milk. I drink a gallon per week. But my boss was just talking today about how goat milk is better for you than cow's milk. He owns goats. Is lactose not found in human milk though? I need to do that gallon challenge sometime. I just posted the article for the humor value, it was in the Collegian on wednesday. She has got to be one of the dumber people here at school.... I thought it kinda sounded like she was leading a save the cows campaign or something.

Welcome to the IHoP
Those look promising. Never used Michelin before but there is always a first. Currently riding on GY Assurance Comfort tread GoodYear is shit. In fact, they are on the edge of bankruptcy due to and extreme loss of sales the past 5 years. I have had GYs on two car and both have literally been the shittiest tires I've ever used. I've used many Michelins but only because I got a deal on them. They are by far, some of the best handling and longest lasting tires I've used, and I'm not exactly easy on tires. They're just so damned expensive, but in this case, you actually get more than you pay for. I may have to disagree. Goodyear holds the leading market share in the US, latin america, china, and india. Sure its sales growth has only increased 3 of the last 5 years, but the economy hurt last year. Sales were still above 5 years ago, though. And they had trouble with a strike one year, but they just signed new deals with worker unions. Which, as with most industries, the unions suck the companies dry. I have Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armors on my Explorer, and I've had them on for 20,000 miles and they still look brand new. And I've never had problems with traction at all. I think a KY jelly truck could spill all over the road and I'd stay glued to it. But I know I'm biased (and defensive) because my dad runs a Goodyear store. So I'm sorry you had bad experiences.

new weird sound
Check the sub for mechanical damage and take a DMM to the coils to make sure they still read correctly. Also check the box for air leaks, and take it out and play free air to see if the sound is still there, just to repeat others.

4 guage for 1150 watts?
I used 4 gauge on a 1000 watt sub amp and about 300 watts of smaller amps. When I switched the power wire out for 0 gauge I noticed a tad less dimming.

Attn: box design enthusiasts
I wouldn't say you could beat that no problem. Having a 12" Q isn't an ideal SPL setup. 147 may be harder to achieve than you think. But if you're talking about when you get the BTLs, then sure.

choosing between 2 15" Q's or 1 18" Q
Well, it does need >0 watts. Just giving you a hard time, your post is

Welcome to the IHoP
It has to say something about how much of the product / service you are actually paying for when the company has three different mascot story lines running at the same time on very heavy national rotation. No shit. Are you cavemen, a gecko, or a damn stack of cash with eye balls? Well Warren Buffet is getting rich with the stock market again, so he has the money to burn.

Read on ESPN's bottom line tonight that Vick was disappointed in his role, saying that this is not how he envisioned his comeback to be. He thought he would be starting somewhere. Really? You expected to come back from JAIL for two years and expect to start right away? I wanted to give him a break, but he's really trying to make everybody hate him in one way or another.- Welcome to the IHoP
dammit I wanted to go to sleep at 10:15 tonight so that I could get a full 8 hours like I like, and here it is 10:40. Again. Just like every night this week. Or later. Not that a half hour is a big deal, it's just the principle of the thing, achieving that goal.- Welcome to the IHoP
If you have a vag, front to back if not it doesn't matter Always front to back regardless.- Welcome to the IHoP
I don't like the rear tires. Not sure if it's the rounded shoulder, how they sit in relation to the wheel well, that they just look silly wide, or a combination of all of that.- Need suggestions for new subs.....
And you're going to run 16,000 watts everyday huh. And there is going to be even any semblance of SQ in there? mm hmm.- Can a Q be built up to handle 2500watts?
Thats not really what i want for my truck ,, I like it tuned down low I don't think you understood my post. Build two different boxes, or else use interchangeable ports. That way you can tune it higher for comps, then back down low for everyday driving.- Amp/Sub match
Should be about right. if you get d2 coils, wire each sub's coils in series then all the subs in parallel, you'll get a 1.33 ohm load. That amp will probably put out about 2200 watts at that impedance, or a little over 700 per sub. That's just about right.- fuse on amp
Maybe I just misunderstood what you were trying to say. If you have a fuse there somehow, it will be ghetto but should work. Replacing the fuse holder would be the best option.- Which amps would you recommend?
Whats the power handling at 6 and 8 ohms? ...I see that the SAZ3000 only puts out 800 watts at 4 ohms, which is pretty shocking! It's not shocking when you realize that a halve in impedance should give you twice the power in an amplifier with an unregulated power supply. So therefore a doubling in impedance cuts the power output in half. 1 ohm- 3000 watts, 2 ohm- 1600, 4 ohm- 800, 8 ohm- 400, etc. So therefore the 100.4 should put out about 50 x 4 at 8 ohms. somewhere between there at 6 ohms.- Welcome to the IHoP
Long day at work. Luckily tomorrow is Friday.- Which amps would you recommend?
Yes the amps will run fine at 6 or 8 ohms. You can always go higher in impedance for amps, just not lower. They'll just put out less power, but most of the time those 6/8 ohm speakers are more efficient than the 4 ohm ones, so you don't lose any output. There is a big difference between active and passive if you know what you're doing or at least have the motivation to play with it.- 18" Fi Q - Sealed or Ported
I think you should redesign the ported box so that the ports don't eat up so much volume. I'm assuming you are going to use a slot port? Think about using aeros instead. - Welcome to the IHoP
