  1. Yeah my friend has their lowest model 15'' in a ranger. Its pretty lound for running off a small rockford amp. Its sounds like poooooooop. Nothing more. But i must say, it takes a beating. The signal is clipped to hell and it still keeps beating.
  2. If you're not interested in SQ and plan on a 1500d, i would look into the 10'' BL. Play around with some box calcs and see if you can get what you want.
  3. I received my refurbished sae-1000d yesterday. I actually looks really nice. The picure here showed a couple of little marks on the cover, but they are hardly noticable. Hooked it up at 2ohms and wow! I was very impressed with it. The specs say that it does 600rms at that resistance but it definately puts out more than my "900rms" kenwood. Alot cleaner sounding too. I was having a really hard time setting gains last night too. I think i need to find someone with an o-scope. Just though I would compliment Sundown for working with me on getting my amp and, though I don't know very much about car audio, I was really impressed with it.
  4. Would you be opposed to sealed? My guess is you could go with a Q12 sealed and it would sound pretty darn good. I have no experiance with the subs you have now though, so i couldn't compare them.
  5. OMFG!!! That thing is absolutly amazing looking. It would be a ton of work to built. But could be awsome! More research is needed for sure. Thanks for that link!
  6. Sorry for the misunderstanding, the dayton drivers I was looking at were for pro audio. Single 8ohm VC. I guess my question is: if i built them to manufacture specs with .75 mdf, do you think that they will sound good for my application? Here is the driver: http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cf...tnumber=295-085
  7. Hi all, I am new to the "Pro sound" thing but just putting some ideas out. I am in an alternative band in High school and we are starting to get some bigger gigs and we were thinking about some subs. I have made a few sub boxes for my truck so i just started thinking about making some for the band. I was looking and partsexpress.com and saw that Dayton makes a nice looking 18'' driver for a pretty decent price. Any ideas. This is really a low budget kind of thing but I like nice chit if that makes sense. Thanks in advance, Mike B.

The movie is Billy Madison... But I have one Q10 in .65ft^3 sealed box and I love the way it sounds. Very smooth and plays all music VERY well. I'm feeding in about 900rms, wish I had more. It doesn't get as loud as I had hoped though...
  9. Wow... now i'm really discouraged. So pretty much i'm left to getting a new sub. PISS!
  10. is there any way how I could set it up for daily? Like just keeping the gain down low enough or something like that? I really don't want to get a new sub but it needs more power than what my Kenwood is giving out.
  11. Just wondering if anyone has run or seen a SAE-1000D at .5ohms? I'm thinking of doing this but not quite sure yet. any opinions?
  12. Owh. That sucks. Well thanks for the info. Sick car by the way. In the summer i roll in a 1980 320i POS but i love it. My dad is one up on me though, he drives his all original 88' M3... bastard
  13. Wow it looks like nothing came up... So, i'm wanting to get a Sundown SAE-1000D to power my Fi Q10. My sub has dual 1ohm coils. My question is, what will i have to do to keep my amp from burning up if i wire it to .5ohms? If planning big three and a bigger battery. Any ideas? Thanks, Michael
  14. I'm interested in one of those 1000Ds...
  15. I would love a sundown a RF would amazing too. The only problem now is I have a D1 coils. Is the Sundown stable at .5ohms?
  16. Haha! Yeah the kenwood was only $170, i figured it was better than something similar in that price range (hifonics) But i just went out to the truck with a dmm and set gains without the bass boost on and magically.... No more click sound! i had the sub hooked up free and and it wasn't moving as much as before so i might be looking into a new amp soon. What would you recomend for something that is cheaper that a Sundown 1000D? Thanks for your help by the way. I'm a much happier person now that i know something isn't wrong.
  17. No. It was faceing the seat. And I don't think the sub was out of phase but i could check that over. I was getting a pretty good amount of sound, not as loud as i had hoped though.
  18. Yeah the box is getting replaced, built a new one this afternoon, so i'm hopeing that will help. About the bottoming out thing, its not bottoming out, its not nearly loud enough to be that, also it does it at lower playing levels too. When i had it set up fireing into my seat (its in a truck) it sounded good because i couldn't hear the click, but when fliped the seat forward, i could hear it.
  19. My HU was set flat. I set the gain on my amp using a dmm, filter at 100hz and yes there was bass boost on. Is that a bad thing? I don't think it will put out much with it turned down. From what i could hear the sound wasn't distorted.
  20. Dual 1 coil wired to 2ohms for the kenwood.
  21. The other day I whiped together a box for my Q10, 14x14x12, 3/4in mdf, comes out to around .9 cubes. I screwed up on one of the cuts so i just siliconed the chit out of it. So i have it in my truck now, pushed by 900 kenwood watts rms and there is a clicking noise coming from the sub. Not so noticeable on the lower notes or in rock songs, but it really makes me mad. I pushed on the sub, no scratchy sound, i put the coils on a DMM, both at .8 ohms. WTF! I also tried it free air a little and the noise is louder let. I read on another forum to check my spider for rub marks from tensel slap, and i couldn't find anything. Any ideas? Am i doing something wrong?
