That would be underpowering a pair of Icon 12s by alot.

A friend of mine has a 700 watt JBL amp and wants a pair of 12s that'll hit hard and sound good sealed. These are the subs we're trying to choose between. Which would you choose out of these? 2 SI BM 12s sealed 2 JL Audio W3v3 12s sealed 2 Treo TSX 12s sealed 2 RE SR 12s sealed 2 Audiopulse EPIC 12s sealed

So it would just be a lil louder, huh? Another thought I had was trying a Q18 in 4 cubes sealed.

Right now I have an Icon 15 in 3.5 cubes tuned to 34hz being powered by a JBL GTO 1201.II amp that puts out 1100 watts at 2 ohms and it sounds good. How would a FI BL 15 sound in my current box with my current power? I know they get louder than the Icons but do they sound good? If they have decent to good SQ I might want to swap in favor of more output, that's if my amp and box would even be good for the BL.

I'm kind of in the same situation, running into problems no one can help me with, it seems. No one makes h/o for imports w/out doing major mods and you have to have pullies and brackets custom made at a very steep price. Even if you can make the parts, getting them on the motor is a dangerous proposition at best. It's gonna cost you money anyway so here's what you're better off doing: You can get a h/o alt with some batteries ($1200.00 easy and around 200 lbs at least) OR, what I'm thinking about doing, getting a BatCap 8400 (70 lbs) off of Ebay, getting the charger that goes with it(do NOT hook one of these up to a regular battery charger!) and hook it up to the system completely seperate from the car, and it will bang for days before you have to charge it again. I'm thinking of just doing the big 3 and getting a solenoid and Stinger SP1500D - SP2150. Not sure what size battery I want yet. All I had in my last car was a solenoid and SP1000 and I didn't even do the big 3 and there was no dimming and I was str8. Of course there were times I didn't feel like listening to music so my battery stayed charged good.

I have a 2006 Toyota Corolla Type S and I was wondering if any of you have the same car and have a system in it or have seen a system in a Corolla Type S? I need some ideas on setups. Right now I have a Batcap 800 in the trunk along with Dynamat in the trunk and under and on top of the rear deck, a JBL GTO 1200.1 II amp powering 1 Icon 15 in 3.5 cubes ported tuned to 34hz. I already have a 70 amp alternator and have just a little bit of dimming. Do I need a bigger alternator or would a Stinger SP1000 battery and solenoid be enough or should I get a both the alternator and bigger battery/solenoid? A friend of mine said that if I get a bigger alternator that I should go any bigger than 140 - 150 amps so that I don't fry my cars harness. Does that sound right to you? I just want to upgrade, not cause hundreds worth of damage to my car!

Same here, my ICON 15 has been seeing 1100wrms everyday for 3 months now and I havn't smelt anything. Hmmmm, maybe it's just excess glue then.

Either way I want to use the same box because the box was custom built and a lil pricey. Im pretty sure what your smelling is the coils burning. What amp are you running yours off of? What do you think of the power I have and enclosure for the BL 15?

I'm kinda interested in a BL 15. Right now I currently have an Icon 15 in 3.5 cubes tuned to 34hz being powered by a JBL GTO 1201.II amp that puts out 1100 watts at 2 ohms. How does the BL sound? Does it have decent SQ and what are the different options for? How would the BL 15 sound with my amp and box if I did a swap? I like my Icon 15 and all but if the BL gets louder and has decent SQ too, I'de the increase in output. How would you compare the sq of the BL to the sq of a RF Power HX2 15?

One of my friends is going to set up my amp with his O Scope this weekend. I hope it helps because I don't really want to part with my Icon. I am however kinda interested in maybe a BL 15.

When I play my Icon moderately loud I get a smell that almost smells like paint and when I touch the Icon it's very warm. I like the way my sounds alot however I just find that it heats up too easily. I'm beginning to think the Icon isn't what I'm looking for in a sub if it can't take much abuse. I'm not knocking it in any way, it's a great sounding sub and can get decently loud. I just find the voicecoils get stressed too easily. Everything in my car is set up properly so I know it's not the install. Could it be just be because it's hot outside? I mean I had a pair of JL Audio W3D4 12s sealed and a pair of Orion P12s sealed and would play it as loud as I wanted and never had this problem before. Could it be maybe I just didn't smell it because most of my other setups were sealed and my Icon 15 is ported? Is this normal with ported setups? If so, I'm rethinking either trying a sealed setup with my Icon 15 or a Fi BL 15 in my current box being I hear they can take some abuse. However I'm not sure if the BL is what I'm looking for either because I hear they don't sound that good and I got the Icon because I wanted something loud that sounds good as well. Does anyone have experience with the BL? Does it have ok to good SQ?

Might have something to do with Kicker subs suck lol j/p. That box is too big, plus you don't even need that much power for that sub. You could power a pair of those 12s perfectly with 600 - 700 watts. The sub should be in about 1.2 cubes sealed. The max ported recommendations for that sub is 2.25 cubs so you're going way too big with that box for sealed.

Dude, that is soooo true. A local shop fried my ED Audio NiNe.1 amp. I bought the wrong voice coil Kicker CVX 12s for the amp. So they wired it at 4 ohms and had the bass boost and gain turned up all the way and like an idiot I believed them that there was something wrong with the NiNe.1 and bought the GTO 1201.1 II off them, lol. I don't regret buying the amp, it's a good amp. Seems like most of the shops around here are shady.

I meant he said only competitors use O-scopes. I live in Long Island NY

I called the place I usually go to and he said that high class competitors only use those. Does that sound right to you?

The gain is set a lil past half way. I notice some people on the forum are powering pairs of the 15s with like 1500 watts from a Kicker amp. Am I setting the gain too high? What could that smell be? Should I turn down the gain on my amp and turn up the sub setting on my deck? The deck I have is the Alpine CDA-9886.

The DD subs I've seen were pretty impressive. The 9500 series pounds hard as fvck and doesn't sound that bad doing it (in the right enclosure with the right power). That DDz series sub has got to be fvcking rediculous!

Are those subs really better than the Ti Elite or is that your opinion? Is your opinion based on they perform better or that you don't like the Ti Elite? Not trying to be a d!ck, just curious. BTW, how much would either pair need to get good and loud sealed without frying them? Of course its an opinion and subjective too, but in particular when you factor in the price I'd much rather have the non-PG driver. I never said better, I said >> meaning that is what I'd pick. I respect your honesty. I'm just looking for a badass sealed pair of 12s. Basically I want either a pair of W7s or a pair of subs that'll get as loud or louder and sound as good sealed. So many people hate on the W7s, yet they are honestly hard to beat in a sealed setup. IMO, the w6's destroy the w7's in a sealed enclosure. Of course I can now tell from your bias that the loud portion is overweighing the sounding good portion Not being biased, they just sound real good to me. The W6s are also great subs. I just like the way the W7s sound alot. However I know there gotta be subs that can get just as loud or louder and also have great sq sealed.

I just checked out the website and there's alot of info left out. I was looking at the subs and alot of the specs are missing and there are no box suggestions either, just for some of the 12s. The Death Row and Flatline series look cool. Are they power hungry or efficient? What's the excursion on those subs? I have a ported box, it's 3.5 cubes tuned to 34hz and the amp I have is the JBL 1200.II (puts out 1100 watts at 2 ohms). Would that be proper for either or those series of subs?
