  1. I have a Sony XAV-63 head unit, and I usually set it at about 35/50 when I'm bumpin, 40 if i'm really feelin' it. I messed around with it, and to get decent volume I have to max the gain on both amps, the Crunch 1500.1 and my dual 400.2 for the doors to get a usable amount of volume. In fact, 35/50 with max gains, draws less current and sounds cleaner than half gains, sub level up, and 40-45 volume.
  2. Could possibly post some later. Just got thrown out of my house so i'm moping and brainstorming for now.
  3. I have a crunch powerzone 1500.1 and have a strange issues between it and my head unit. I raise the gain, and there is little to no difference throughout the range until it's about 3/4 up. However, if I raise the line level input (I play music from my phone) it increases dramatically, however my highs distort, no matter how I adjust their amp. I haven't even bothered with the bb because I've heard nothing good about it; but I don't feel right maxing my gain to get decent output. It's the same level of sound as my 150w amp without the line level adjustment and I figure 6-700w increase should sound a little louder? only asking this now, because I plan on getting a new amp for my birthday, and would like to be able to see if it's the amp or a limp signal from the hu.
  4. happy birthday lol
  5. I can't rate posts on mobile, so count this as a +1 to 95Honda's post.
  6. This forum isn't a no-work-required box calculator. You must post your goals with this system for anyone to make a recommendation. What kind of music do you listen to, are you looking for loud as possible or quality sound etc
  7. Use google before the forum. don't make us do work you can do for yourself.
  8. He sounds like I used to. Dreams louder than logic.
  9. What kind of power does it do? The box in the pictures said 300w x 2, 600w x 2, and 1000w x 2 that seems awfully expensive for 2kW
  10. I can't find it anywhere, where could I pick up 4/0?
  11. It looks like the Knu 1/0 has more wire?
  12. Dude a fan costs like five bucks. Even my broke ass could afford one.
  13. Apparently my alt wires were choking my voltage considerably, finally got some free time to get under the hood and add the new wiring; I've done two of three, didn't have enough cable to do all three. I did Alt to pos, and batt to frame, and with the marine in the back, the voltage doesn't dip below 13.8v at idle, with system at full tilt.
  14. Haha shit, for 169, fuck my backseats I'd happily do a quad 18" setup
  15. I'm useless when it comes to buying used gear, I always seems to get ripped off I like the Evil, I've heard nothing but good stuff about it
  16. Another option i'm considering is a box built for two eighteens, just separate chamber, and i'll pick the other one up with money is less scarce.
  17. I am never opposed to more bass I was mainly wondering if it would be worth the extra moneys. Twice as loud sounds delightful to me. Now, because I keep seeming to hear people talk about the obsidians as being ALRIGHT, I thought i'd look around and hold out for something a little more popular, SSA, or Fi based. I am looking for loud, but not willing to sacrifice accuracy and quality. I know that both the Q and the Icon are SQ subs, but between the two, which tends to be easier to get loud? I know low isn't an issue for either. I'm sure someone will get on me about using SQ subs for SPL, but I mean, if two 18's isn't loud enough for me, i'll have to come to terms with the fact that my wallet is already weeping, so I mean, fuck it lol. That's all i've got space for, and with that, i'd like the cleanest sound possible. I am thinking of going with a stetsom 2k5e, a tad under power, but noone will ever know
  18. It's been said many times that it's not as useful to add more power, as to have a more efficient enclosure, or that a single woofer in a correctly designed enclosure is generally better off than two or more in less than adequate boxes; I took some measurements of my truck, and it looks like I have plenty of room for a pair of 18's. But will the difference between one and two woofers be worth the extra costs? I'm looking to get loud, and sound fairly good doing it, however I cannot afford high power woofers, especially until I can get larger alt in. My budget for woofers is <$400 each, but I have to determine what i'll be getting before I can make a choice for an amp. If I were to run a pair, materials cost would rise, electrical would need to be beefed up a fair bit, and cost would double for the speakers themselves; not chasing numbers, is the difference going to be substantial? It's a near useless question is the answer i'm expecting, as it's obviously install dependent, but for ~$800 difference, I feel it's a question worth asking. Subs in mind are Obsidian 18's, Icon 18's, Q 18's, SSD 18's, going in a 04' blazer 4dr
  19. I meant where the wire passes through, but I can use epoxy for that too I guess
  20. First off, where to buy lead wires, from terminal to coil, and second, what to seal it to the cone with. And oh yeah, how much slack should I leave? I was going to try to match the working leads.
