Two MJ18M's and a SAZ-1500D
My only real stipulation is that I get 18's. I am aiming for spl on my budget. a little sq wouldnt hurt, but it's not the driving force behind this plan. I am building a re-enforced box to use until I decide on a higher power pair. I am not at all expecting it from th MJ's on 1500rms but i would like to run a 149.9 with my Final setup. I would love to get into competing, maybe start some plainfield shows.

the most retarded "enclosure" I have ever witnessed
I would rather plug them into a socket. Wait, what do you mean you're not trying to destroy them?

Two MJ18M's and a SAZ-1500D
After slowly coming to a point in my life where I realize that dreams don't come with money to support them, I decided to stray from my initial craving for the Wardens and go for something i can afford before i'm 40. The plan consists of (2) MJ18M woofers tuned around 26 to 28 hz. The goal is Spl, but not at the expense of the low lows. I listen to alot of chopped & screwed music and like that ability to hear every note. The front stage is most likely going to be a SAX-100.4 on some Focal comps. I recently got a hookup for some decent deadener; almost free actually. i will do two runs of 0/1 for positive and the same for ground. Looking at a powermaster for up front and a bigger one in the rear. Oh, and a new alt too. my arm hurts from aiming the Wii remote, so i'll close up by asking for your guys' input on this plan. Thanks, --Chris Oh its between an Eclipse or a 2 door explorer. It would be a T-shaped box in the hatch of the 'Clipse or subs up port back in the SUV. not sure yet. I'm very tired just let me know if i am too vague about something.

The new AA woofer
Forgive me if there is another thread of the same subject but I can't find it and using my wii is painfully slow. Does anyone know when the woofer by AA and He Who Shalt Not Be Named (Ess em dee) is supposed to be released? I was trying to find pricing for a friend. Thanks.

What do you mean by better? Better looking? Better sounding? Louder? Trading an Alpine for a Kicker? I couldn't really tell you, because it is totally install dependent.

Polyfill in a ported box
I get stupid links, either to sites that sell speaker wire, or at most 1/0. Nothing on 4/0 that i could find, specifically a comparison picture.

I highly doubt box size affects tweeters What are some decent crossover's, that wont necessarily break the bank. looking for ~150hz lowpass and 300hz highpass That still leaves me with the issue of weak highs.

Distortion is not the issue. It's the lack of highs and lows, that comes from correcting the distortion. By "clear" i mean, having well defined, crisp highs, well pronounced over the midrange. I like a slightly harsher sound, (not screaming and hissing, assaulting your ears though) I am upgrading the 1" tweeters i have (originally full range drivers from an iHome, initially pair with matching 1" PR's; now using a crossover from a bose set), to either four horns, or four bullet tweeters, when i get the money. Additionally, i am picking up my other bose woofers (higer xmax and sensitivity, plus a really cool translucent plastic dustcap ) to compare to the current one, and later on, a Tang Band 6.5" To have some fun with. Also, somewhere in that time frame, I want to pick up a SAX-50.4 (or an SAE-100.4, whichever is more cost effective (and available) at the time)), which will go in the backpack for now, and in the car later. Edit: Pissed as hell. My gym teacher complained to my dean that me carrying (not necessarily playing) my bag in class was a distraction to others, and an encouragement for others to screw around in class. Knowing that i have the system, they assumed (we all know what they say about assuming), and as a result I am not allowed to even have it in the building, playing or not, or it will be confiscated by the school police liason. Complete f***ing

Polyfill in a ported box
I personally dont understand why you want pictures of 4/0 AWG, what benefit will that do. Just imagine 1/0 AWG bigger, a lot bigger. Nobody is posting topics with pictures of wire so that is why you arent getting any hits. I wasnt posting just for that, i had just come off of reading a build log, and they lost some pictures, and some were of 4/0 wiring. I just wanted to see how big it is in comparison.

Going Active
Say I had two crossovers the kind that go in line with the speaker (+) wire. Both are exactly the same. If i use one, it's -12dB/oct If i put them in series (amp---[x-over]---[x-over]----speaker) that translates into -24dB/oct?

Ex. When i looked up 4/0 for a picture, as a comparison to regualar 1/0 or 4ga. I got a zillion thread mentioning the wire, but nothing came up specifically relating to the words "picture" or "comparison", other than build logs or those threads that compare woofers or amps.

Sorry, I forgot to post the link to it, I had to catch the bus home. It isn't to fix a major system problem, but I was thinking it could improve the overall sound of my system. In order to avoid distortion coming from my mp3 player, I have to not only avoid bass boost (duh) but I have to use the "pop" preset on the eq, which is not only a bass cut, but a treble cut as well. I miss the clear pronounced highs i had with Rockbox on my iPod (R.I.P.). I was thinking, I could take that signal from the mp3 player, boost the lower end (for a little bit more punch from the woofer), and boost the highs a fair bit. I also heard when using an eq, you should lower the preamp, by as much as the biggest boost (i.e. if you boosted 300hz by +8dB, you would lower the preamp to about -8dB). Is that accurate? Thanks --Chris Edit: Just re-read my first post, I totally spazzed. That wasn't really even a question

Polyfill in a ported box
When I use the search feature, it brings up posts, but when Iclick, it throws me in the searched thread, somewhere at random, usually not related to what Ilooked up. Is it supposed to bring me to the post with the word or phrase i searched, or do i go ahead and read the whole thread? Having not used it alot (i just look through the forums for new posts) I may just be doing it wrong.

I was orignally looking for an external EQ for the zune, for headphones, but I came across this, and thought it was cool. I would be using it in my backpack. Gotta catch this bus. Feedback is appreciated.

SSAUDIO.COM IS BACK!
Cool How long is one term, when paying for a domain; is it feature dependent? 1 year. We now keep a close watch on all of our domain names so this won't ever happen again... We're ready this time

Polyfill in a ported box
I have a kinda small box for a ported 6 1/2" Bose woofer. It sounds alright, but i can't fit much more in the bag. I was wondering if polyfill would have somehat of the same effect in a ported box as it would in a sealed box. I did want to ask the difference in effect, between stuffing and padding, because i have heard of both being used. I am looking to shift the tuning down a little bit.
