It's not hard. It's just like trying to paint a sponge. MDF really "soaks" up the paint and gives you an uneven sort of appearance. Get some of that fleckstone spraypaint, and put a layer of that one, let it dry, then add color. It will be colored evenly, and it will also be textured. Don't know if you want that or not. Here is a pic of my box w/ the fleckstone paint and to show how uneven paint looks.

Oh trust me I know I'm trying to see whether or not he should go sealed or ported w/ his 18... And I would personally recommend a AA Havoc 18 if you can get it... If not, I'd say go w/ a 18 Q w/ BP option. Do you already have an amp, and if so, which one?

My problem with it is that they get paid to help people, and they do by telling them the most ridiculous things. It is their job to know about what they are selling, and when the stereo department head of BestBuy tells me I need a 12" box for a 12" sub and tries to CONVINCE me of that when I tell her she is wrong, then that has crossed the line of what should be accepted as I was only seeking information on a sub my friend potentially wanted to buy, not an ego trip. That and they are spreading that kind of "knowledge" to everyone that it walking in the store...

I used that exact same amp install kit and that exact wire for my AA Havoc lol! Yeah use the 1/0 wire. AA Havoc is an amazing sub dude. Do you have any RCA's or amp turn on leads? If not, you will need those b/c they don't come w/ that amp install kit (there are ones that do though!) Just get a 200 amp external fuse. Gains are not volume knobs, and they aren't simple. UGH. That sucks dude. I get insurance on shipping EVERY time I send a sub or amp or anything like that. USPS broke a spoke of the basket of my sub, and the sub was in a custom built wooden frame w/ 4 side pieces and a top and botom in a cardboard box. They suck at life.
