We've had many people gain in SPL with the high xmax coil..if their setup actually uses excursion. Again, this thing is for music..why wouldn't you want the high xmax coil?

It's how the math works out The lower your DCR is (resistance is taken in series) the lower the BL will be.. Essentially they are in the same magnetic gap..it's just how the math works out on the length of wire on a given run. B is still there, L is what changes.

Sounds like you are clipping the piss out of it to me. Have you smelled coil?

On your amplifier it should be low passed at around 70Hz or so..

Another thought.. How high is high? Where do you have your crossover set?

Is your RCA and power wire ran on opposite sides? Turn the gain down and see what it does..

Glad to see some people are finally seeing the really cool aspect of the other coil...the concept of an adjustable Qts shoots over most people's mental capacity..especially when it involved another coil

Depends on the amp.. 1200 watts or so you'd be fine with a 4 gauge run.
