  1. Okay heres the deal. I have two Mach 5 SPL-12s. I currently have them for sale. However numerous people on a few forums say I'll regret selling them. I'm trying to figure out how much it'll cost me to get these things going. I have a camper shell already for my truck, but I need accordian gasket to go between the truck and the camper shell. I am not sure what I'd do for amp(s). I would like to get a SAZ-3000D refurb but I dobut I can afford it. I have been looking at the Audiopipe AP3000.1D, which is like $350. The subs are Dual 2s though, I may be better off with two 1500W amps as opposed to one 3000W amp. I am not sure what batteries I can get. Yellow Tops here are $360 a piece. If I end up going with Yellow Tops, I will probably have them Greyhounded up from another city, there about $160 5hrs away. I am not sure what wire to use, I was thinking welding cable. I don't care what it looks like, as long as it functions. I am not really sure what to do, if you guys could help me out with some ideas or whatever. I'm trying to do this on a budget but not get junk gear.
  2. I found mechman to be alot more expensive than EA.
  3. Now if you guys were to make amps, we'd be all set.
  4. hahaha....funny POWER ACOUSTIK... uhh... IDK... uhh... ummm... how about a clue?
  5. These two are the best imo...
  6. that wont work the backround in the banner wouldnt be visible its very nice as it is I meant the actual Sundown "Banners" not the T's. They are white right now and I want a black one. there is a back round on the banners its not just white the camera mostlikely wont catch it its ghosted I think hes talking like a banner that you would hang in your shop..
  7. This is the kind of thing that makes me think you're not quite ready for that much power yet Yeah.. You're going in over your head I think. Why don't you start off with a small system like some 8s or 10s.. and keep your seat and trunk space.. You'll need it for important things.. like hauling around your buddies, beer runs... "hanky panky".... etc.
  8. Denim makes a good set of points here. You don't need 21" subs and gobs of power to make decent bass at all. It comes down to the equipment you choose and the design of box, install, etc.. Are you even old enough to drive yet? Aren't you like ... 13?
  9. Are you going to be able to afford the DP21? let alone the electrical and stuff to support an amp and stuff? I'd save up some cash after you get the car fixed, and then once you get so much saved up decide what your going to do..
  10. Would it be better for me to sell it and get a deck with a 3 way x-over. Its BNIB.. or should I just use a passive component set? Could I use these? http://www.partsexpress.com/webpage.cfm?we...ectGroup_ID=193
  11. Was looking at those, but there Fs is 220Hz... i would want something that would respond @ 40-50hz or lower... might be impossible.. but I do remember what Pete Kulicki did with the TV speakerr...
  12. Whereabouts are you?
  13. I have a 1/24th scale Chevy Express cargo. I had planned on making a miniature SPL vehicle. I could not find a speaker that would fit in the van (would have to be a 2 inch sub). After watching the styrofoam plate speaker video that was posted on SMD, got me thinking... Maybe I could make a custom lil' woofer to fit my application. I watched that video a few times and figured I could improve on his design a bit... So this is what I've come up with. Let me explain this now.. The Blue is the basket. As I won't be able to make a sub style motor, I will do something similar to what he had done in the video. however make it more like a real sub instead a bunch of cutlery and cardboard. I figured I can stack a few small magnets ontop of each other, and make a collar to support them at the bottom, and make it sturdy so the magnet won't move. The black cylinder attached to the basket, is the magnets/motor. The grey thing with all the gold stuff on it is the voice coil. It may not need as many turns on it as shown, but its just for illustrative purposes. The Black is the cone and surround. Haven't thought of what I could make the surround out of, would like to use foam like real subs but not sure what else I could use.. the cone will be treated paper. Missing from the rendering is a spider. Again not sure what I will make that out of. What do you guys think? I know its pretty dumb to some of you, but to me its a learning experience... Heres the youtube video if you guys never saw it. I'm hoping that this thing in a ported box will be able to play lower notes.. but it might not be possible... I may still do it anyway.. Although right now, I think I might be able to make a motor like a normal sub has... hmm. I'm going to look around and see what kinda magnets I can find..
  14. Are you going to be using more MJs? I'd get the new version.
  15. I'd buy about 10 more SPL-12s from Mach 5, and build a crazy ass walkthrough in my truck. Put a 6.2L diesel in it, 5 speed manual, paint it, full airbags, 22s, .... then sit on the rest and be VERY GREEEEDY.... and buy land... as they don't make that anymores.
  16. yeah... it was a poor attempt at the l33t speak... Sorry guys, I had to help my dad go to the dump with carpets and stuff. There you guys go.
  17. These showed up in teh mail. IDK what they be.
  18. Round speakers make round soundwaves... duh.
  19. Yea they do seem pretty high.
  20. Yea it really sucks. I heard my dad talk about these brands he had and now you go look them up and there sold at the dollar store its like what is this world coming to?
  21. I don't think my headunit has active crossovers, DEH-4900IB Pioneer.
  22. Well I guess I'll buy a "normal" component setup. How did Jacob @ Sundown do brandons doors with the E8s and the tweeters and stuff..?
