  1. Sexay! I should hire you to keep all of my asses so fresh and so clean!
  2. Well hot damn, nice job steppin' up to the plate for flakko everyone! Seems like he has plenty of viable options to choose from here and I just wanted to chime in (for anyone else skimming these threads) to note that the RL-p12 should have a minimum of 20 sq inches of port area. That's all, now get to Frankensteining that enclosure!
  3. For an RL-p12 in car, 1.5 - 2.0 cu ft net volume tuned between 28 - 34 Hz. For an RL-p12 in home, 2.0 cu ft net volume tuned betweem 20 - 25 Hz. To understand the relationship between the net volume, port area, length, and tuning frequency, read and re-read the following tutorial by JL Audio: [link] Then once you know the process, use the online calculator at the bottom of the following link to avoid that nasty formula: [link] Feel free to ignore the minimum vent area calculator and go with our recommendation of 20 square inches on the RL-p12. Vent area is simply the cross-sectional (length x width) of a quadrillateral (slot) port opening or (Pi * radius^2) for a round port. Round ports can typically be a little smaller than their slot port counterpart and still provide comparable performance.
  4. You got it ~ added Special 0040
  5. Ja mon, so long as you are a responsible listener that has your amplifier gain set appropriately, and a solid enclosure built within our recommended specifications, the RL-p D4 should take the 1100 watts like a champ no problem.
  6. As I understand it, you are limited on space so you're likely sticking to the sealed alignment -- in which case I would advocate between 0.5 - 0.8 cu ft gross internal volume. If you can fit it, I would opt for the 0.8 cu ft gross.
  7. Could just be a super low note that isn't very audible to begin with (though you should still be able to feel it physically). Alternately, perhaps your box has some leaks in it?
  8. The 10's should be ready a few weeks prior to the 8's, hopefully in early to mid January. Strangely we are out of baskets on those units as well, but at least we have a regular supplier for that part.
  9. OoOo, sorry ///M5 but I have an interested buyer who contacted me last night about this driver. If I don't receive payment by this evening, you're standin' next in line to get a shot at it and I'll fire over a msg with all the details.
  10. Due to unforeseen circumstances, req was unable to ship the driver out on time.
  11. ^Bump^ for new Special Offer 0030
  12. > updates please Things are back on track, Ryan in NY should have received the driver yesterday. I again updated the first post in this thread to reflect estimated time slots. A bummer it couldn't make it to AZ for the gathering, please direct all complaints to req! LOL
  13. Thrilled to hear of your satisfaction Mike! After the new year rolls around I'll definitely be adding a page to display your setup in our Customer Install's section (as well as one or two others that I've been meaning to get up there as well). Keep on rockin' and happy holidays!

  16. I'm sure there's hundreds of people that think the {insert subwoofer name here} is better than the RL-p Just like I'm sure there's a couple hundred saints that think the RL-p is the ownage of all From what I've heard (and not directly to mine ear), these SI products aren't half bad. To each their own
  17. Ooo damn, happy daze my friend! Tack on an extra round, will ya?
  18. In fact, both methods will shift resonance - but yes you are correct.
  19. The moving mass on the RL-p12 is around 170g. As for inductance concerns, yes the RL-p's do have a slightly higher inductance than some other comparable products - however for a subwoofer, the amount of inductance that there is will not diminish its performance in its intended range. Inductance becomes of increasing concern for midwoofers and other drivers aimed at producing the higher frequency bandwidth. Since the RL-p is a subwoofer, the performance within its recommended range (< 80 Hz) will not be compromised. I have yet to snag T/S param's off a "used" driver, but I'll try to keep that in mind.. just that any used woofers I have here are in boxes being used!
  20. As you alluded, there are two ways to test drivers: 1) add mass to shift compliance; 2) load in a sealed box to shift compliance. From my technical contact: "We test with praxis, sine-sweep, at 2.83 Volts, and the data is within 2-3% of LMS data taken at 2.83 Volts, except that Praxis uses a more data-points and has a higher order better curve-fit, thus being slightly more repeatable and accurate. The new LEAP5 model is probably most accurate, but is very time-consuming." So in short, we use this method 'cause it's practical!
  21. Thanks for the heads up 60 ~ I dropped a few words.
  22. Yea darn it, my webhost is bein' the uber geh and "running server maintenance" which usually equates to "We don't know what's wrong, but give us an undetermined amount of hours, maybe days, and we'll get it back up for ya only to have it go down again in a couple weeks" The whole site is down (including email!) and if this keeps up much longer I'm switching hosts .. and to add insult to injury I can't even use my custom smilies to emote my frustration!
  23. Allright guys, sorry for the wait.. you know, holidays and all (the perfect excuse! ). I finally went ahead and ran the graphs on the RL-p12, and I even did ya one better and finished up what will be the public detail page for that specific driver. Tried to hit on as many of the frequently asked questions that I get from people as I could without going totally overboard. Hasn't gone live yet (probably sometime o'er the weekend or maybe even next week), but without further ado... [CHECK IT OUT], and let me know what you think!
