  1. The new 12's will be logoless in order to expedite production. I'll do my best to remember to email you when they are ready. It will also be announced on the front page of our website's 'news' section.
  2. Awesome! I have a Panasonic CQ-C9800U with customizable display waiting to go in my car, but I've been lazy 'cause I'm going to have to custom mount due to my old unit's oddball size.
  3. You can also run a pair of 4ohm dvc's in either 1ohm or 4ohm configuration. Check out sounddomain's woofer wiring guide for other common wiring options.
  4. Wish I could.. but unfortunately this is bread and butter, and bread and butter isn't free
  5. We are currently short on cones but more should be coming in quite soon and I hope to have the 12's off the line and ready to ship in 2-3 weeks. i want stickerrrrs --> email or PM me your addy.
  6. Just got back from San Diego tonight. Checked in on some of the parts for the new 8's. They will all be logoless, with a glossed clear coat finish on black aluminum cone. I'm aiming to have them ready to ship in about 4 weeks (April 15th or there abouts).. I'll do my best to keep you all appraised of any new information as I realize it
  7. >> How's the rl-p 12 dual 4 ohm stock? >> When does the new shipment of logoless 12's come in RL-p12 D4 stock is painfully low. I have a pending production order for more of them, but that damn printer is just so slow getting the logos on those cones, I just don't understand why it takes 5 weeks to print a logo, especially when you already have the custom pad layin' around from a previous print job So, I will probably give TC the go ahead to make them with logoless black annodized cones asap. I'll know more on estimated availability by this weekend, as I'm heading down to TC today to go do some talkin' (and some surfing with Thilo!)
  8. All drivers shipping from the Los Angeles area include stickers in each package. In the rare event that you are getting a driver fresh off the line, shipped directly from TC Sounds, you can always send a direct request to me and I'll happily mail out some stickers for you. That said, if anyone wants some stickers and they don't even have a SoundSplinter driver, I'd be happy to oblige so drop me a line if you want some sexy stickyickyickers
  9. Whoops... I'm a dork, I was thinkin' of a 12 incher for some reason in my above reply. Please disregard that info, 3 cu ft net for a ported RL-p15 would be just fine! 2.5 cu ft would also suffice, but you probably wouldn't want to go any smaller than 2.25 cu ft with one of those 15's. Sorry about that confusion. About the logo's, I've been playing it by ear. It seems half the people like the logos and half don't, so I don't really feel bad about having an inconsistent theme when it comes to logo'd versus logoless drivers. The printer just wasn't cutting it and I didn't want to let my stock get too low so I put in quite a few orders not waiting for the logo's to come out. Currently I have the following logoless drivers: 1 RL-p12 4ohm dvc 4 RL-p12 2ohmer dvc 10 RL-p15 4ohmer dvc 6 RL-i12 4ohm dvc 1 RL-i10 4ohm dvc In the future, I hope to find a new pad printer that can work quicker (or else I will probably just stock up on hundreds of cones at a time), at which point I will likely phase away from logoless drivers. Afterall, that logo is a good promotional device.. and makes for some sexy porn B)
  10. Ah, the RL-p12.. in that case listen to mrray's suggestion of 1.5-1.75 cu ft net volume and 25 sq in of port area, tuned to 30-34 Hz. You can go ahead and tune lower, but increase your port area if you do. For a tuning of 25 Hz, I would suggest at least 30-35 sq in of port area.
  11. Edit: I fexxed up on this post. Check my follow up below for the correction 3 cubes net is a little large. I would suggest no more than 2.5 cu ft net volume per driver with 600-750wrms. With 750-1000wrms, I would suggest tailoring that down a bit to 1.8-2.0 cu ft net volume. I'd also recommend between 35-40 sq inches of port area, and tuning from 28-32 Hz. Just picked up a new batch of 15's and man they are sexy. Logoless too, as I didn't want to make people wait any longer and that printer was just taking his sweet ass time. In fact, I may even have a batch of logoless 12's comin' in soon too B) .. and the 8's, well the 8's should be here by the first week of May at the latest (keepin' my fingers crossed that I won't eat my words this time around )
  12. An RL-i series driver should not be ported with 600wrms of power. The voicecoil is too small for the amount of thermal stress that could ensue. However, the RL-i does thrive with low low tuning, and for an RL-i12, I would suggest 3 cu ft, tuned to 22-25 Hz, with 35 sq inches of port area. Now so far as an RL-p, 600wrms will be right in the sweet spot and mrray's rec's are right on target.
  13. Don't take this the wrong way.. but you're all NUTS! I'll sign the damn things for free if you really want me to deface your product Thanks for the grade-A assistance Kent
  14. Thanks for the compliments everyone. I do enjoy playin' around with the cameras. This was the first shot I've been given in a while since my old digi crapped out on me .. I'll be pickin' up a new one in the next month or so though so that I can update the website with pic's of our newer cosmetics which will carry all black annodized aluminum cones (some people already have them) Sure, post them wherever you want. I have plenty of traffic allowance on SoundSplinter, so for now I don't think there should be any problem. If it becomes a problem, I'll just replace the files with compressed versions at the same address so the links stay active
  15. Indigo makes the Bash amp's. Though I bought mine from a competitor of mine .. very good company, even if they are in direct competition with me : O Audio
  16. --> Here's another broadband clip playing "EI" by Nelly (~15 mb) The copy of the audio track being played wasn't encoded very well, but I figure the woofer porn is still tasty nonetheless
  17. The following clip is of an RL-i12 driver inside a 1.2 cu ft net volume sealed enclosure, driven by a 500watt Bash plate amp. Song being played is a rap run known as "Ain't Nothin' But a G-Thang" by Snoop 'n Dr. Dre. Nearly went deaf recording this video (note to self, wear ear plugs when you're sitting right next to a loud woofer ). Just figured I'd throw this one up here to dissuade the fears of those who might think the RL-p is the only worthy contender from SoundSplinter Broadband .avi Clip with sound: ~9 MB Dialup .wmv Clip with NO sound: ~1 MB *Note: I'd suggest right-clicking the boradband link and 'Saving Target As..' since playing the file directly with Windows Media Player will not appraise you of the download progress (at least it didn't for me), and you may think the file isn't working.. if you wait it out though, it will play.
  18. Unfortunately I do not. For the foreseeable future, I will only be carrying 4ohm dvc units. Apologies for any inconvenience but I needed to do it in order to keep costs (and as a result, sale prices) as low as possible.
  19. Yep I did get the mail. I haven't really planned out the whole distribution route yet which is why I hadn't yet responded to that message, but I will get to it this week for sure. modas88, I indeed do ship worldwide. An RL-p to Singapore would cost: $165 via USPS Airmail (2 week delivery) $70 via USPS Economy (8 week delivery) If you would prefer an alternate shipping service, just let me know what it is and I'll look into it. For the most part, on small orders USPS is the cheapest option. A 350wrms plate amp will be suitable for one RL-p, as well as one sealed or two ported RL-i series drivers. Kent is correct that I will be discontinuing my 2ohm dvc models in the very near future. Currently I am down to my last pair of unclaimed RL-p12 2ohm dvc's left in stock (unless two other pending orders fall through).
  20. Hey 2 lit jit... Sorry for leavin' ya hangin', been a whirlwind 'round here tryin' to catch up after my much enjoyed vacation in New York To put your mind at ease, you will not need more than 35 sq inches of port area for that baby to sound great, but on the same token the 35 sq inches is a minimum value recommendation. You can always use more if you have the space and drive to do so but in short, 35 sq in will work very well for the RL-p15's job.
  21. Heh.. I stepped off the plane "late" last night (still on New York time), read this thread and thought to myself, "What in the world is denim talking about?" So I fired off a PM to see what exactly his intentions were with this post and he quickly replied explaining that this was in reference to the redesign of our RL-p15 driver after we had that one RL-p15 warranty return discussed here in another thread. This is not a complete redesign of our entire inventory, but it is important as it makes for a less roundabout way of solving a core potential problem that could have been experienced by more RL-p15 owners had we not caught the problem early. In short, the issue dealt with the spring action terminals getting shorted by the aluminum cone when they would come in contact at high excursions. Thus far, we have only had one incident of this because the initial fix was to use shorter terminals or chop off the tops of the taller ones as exhibited in the following image: In the case of the returned driver, during production the tall terminals were accidentally used which resulted in the problem. After reviewing the driver at TC Sounds, the spider and spider spacer (a ring located between the lower and upper spiders) dimentions were changed ever so slightly to improve upon the design. These changes included going from a 8.9" spider to a 8.5" spider, as well as reducing the spacer size to 0.258" from 0.35". As a result the clearance between the spider and cone has increased, and may also allow for a slight increase in overall potential cone movement. Not a HUGE upgrade by any means, but a solid one nonetheless B)
  22. Indeed.. thanks for the pic's! Just stepped off the plane from New York about an hour ago.. bit jet lagged being back west with the 3 hr time change and all but those pic's just brought me my second wind for the night! B) Definitely shoot us some more info on the amp you're using, construction anecdotes, more future plans, etc!!
  23. Ahh, excellent! Happy to know we've still only had one faulty driver so far ..sorry you had to deal with that though! Given your 500wrms, with the gain set appropriately and your eq's flat, you can push the RL-p to the max and shouldn't experience any signs of overexcursion or clipping whatsoever. So far as what those signs might be, refer to Kent's post above
  24. Hey Phillip. We had our first driver return last week and have found that some of our 15" models sold between August 2004 and January 2005 had a minor flaw in craftsmanship where the spring-action terminals were protruding too far above the spoke of the basket where they were attached, causing the cone to actually hit the top of the lead-wire connection at high excursions, which may be responsible for the "pop sound or knocking sound" you mentioned. If this sounds like the problem you are experiencing, please email me asap and we can arrange for an exchange immediately.New 15's are in stock, redesigned such that they won't have the same potential problem (using a slightly different spider and shortening the terminal height). They will be shipping as early as this coming Monday. I will also be sending an email out to all RL-p15 owners who purchased their units between the above dates, informing them of the possible issue, and that it is fully covered under warranty. I apologize for this inconvenience but we'll set you straight right away.
