rlp-10" any time soon?
The RL-i's and RL-p's are so close in SQ it could arguably go either way dependent entirely upon personal disposition. The basis for the RL-p line is simply to offer a beefier version of a TC motor to allow for more abuse/power, and ultimately, output. Currently there are no plans to bring an RL-p10 to market, but if you would like a prototype you may email me and we can discuss it. I should note however, prototypes will take significantly longer to ship and the cost is usually prohibative 'less you have money to burn.

First Looks: SoundSplinter RL-i Series 8" Driver
Well, it looks like I may have jumped the gun a bit on the release date for these... I'm having some serious difficulties getting the proper parts together with TC so I'm not exactly sure how I'm going to proceed quite yet. Both the cones and the surrounds for the TC2+8 are no where to be found and no new arrivals are expected anytime soon What this means is I can go with paper cones + foam surrounds, or pay thousands to have the parts re-tooled and end up with 100x more than I need... OR wait this thing out and see if any new avenues open up. I really am not fond of the paper cones or the foam surrounds, so at this point I think it may be safe to say that the launch of the RL-i8's will be seriously delayed My apologies for getting your hopes up too early I do have some other ideas in the works, so with any luck you'll see something new from us by Summer 2005. Ack.. trials and tribulations these be

Thanks for emailing me JF, I got back to you this evening. Sorry I couldn't get back to you sooner on here - been insanely busy as of late

two rl-i 10s and fiberglass enclosure?
I wouldn't give the RL-i's anymore than 500wrms unless you're very careful. As an aside, ported RL-i's shouldn't see more than 300wrms per driver.

> Price ? ( not shure if it was listed before ) Not going to release the price quite yet. Still working on it, but to give you a ballpark range, it will be more than $100 but less than $200 per driver (including price breaks for 2+ drivers)- First Looks: SoundSplinter RL-i Series 8" Driver
I'm just not a fan of the whole pre-order thing. Maybe some day down the line, but for now (maybe 'cause I'm new to this?), I just don't want to get people's hopes up when it may take longer than expected to get the fully finished product shipped... and then there'll be a whole bunch of people that may either be impatient or just downright pissed off at any unforeseen delays - so, I'm only gonna sell when I have something to sell However, I'll certainly give you all first crack when they are available (thinkin' late March).- First Looks: SoundSplinter RL-i Series 8" Driver
Hello everyone! Finally snapped some shots of our RL-i8 prototype driver. The finished product will carry a small centered logo. This driver will be one of the beefiest "little" eights out there, optimized for tiny enclosures driven with 175-500wrms. As we get closer to the final launch date for this 8 incher, more information will become available.. but for now, without further ado, the new RL-i series 8" driver from SoundSplinter  .. !!! That quote was on behalf of an Orange County resident who is sharing an apartment in downtown Los Angeles with the friend who's setup I was photographing Off-topic, the friend (Peter) who owns the setup in the video is just finishing up his Psychology/neuroscience program at USC and lives smack in the heart of downtown, in a large twin-tower apartment complex that has a gated courtyard. He lives on the ground floor with a balcony that opens into the courtyard/pool/spa area, and at 7am Tuesday morning, he awoke to find a large asian man who had jumped his balcony, slipped in through his sliding glass door, donned in full gangster apparel, using his computer! The intruder made note that he was not there to harm my friend, but he stuck around for three and a half hours filling out credit card applications on my buddy's PC and making phone calls to people. It seemed he was looking for a safe house as my friend overheard, "Hey... yea I got out last December... so do you want to get together?" Thankfully, at around 10:30am the guy finally left, after hours of persistent (though reserved) insistance on the part of my friend Peter, who obviously wanted the guy the fudge out but had no idea if he was in danger and didn't want to push too hard. To top it off, when calling the police, they said they couldn't do anything because Peter had left his screen door open over night which means that the intruder didn't really break in! http://www.soundsplinter.com/images/videos...-RLi10-porn.WMV The above video was taken in low light with a camera I'm unfamiliar with. Hopefully in the future I will master that damn camera and get some clearer pictures up here. The woofer in the picture is running in a sealed enclosure with another RL-i10, off of a bridged Pioneer amplifier feeding each woofer approximately 190 wrms. The volume on the Pioneer head unit during the video is at approximately 50% - I'll get something more impressive up here sometime soon Well now that we've been up and running solid for a few months, I know there's others out there with these bad boys. So.. Where the hell are the pic's?!?!!- suggestions on single 12 setup
Hey tweekerz. Pretty sure I fielded your question via email but I'll post it here for reference anyway: Re-reading my own recommendation, you could safely up that box size to 1.2 cu ft if you prefer.- 15" RL-p Physical Displacment??
The RL-p15 displaces around 0.21 cu ft of air space. 900wrms per driver is at the upper end of the RL-p's sweet spot. While they'll handle the 2500, there is no need for it and it will serve to put more strain on the driver so I'd definitely recommend sticking with the 1800 for the pair. As to the port, I've never used those Aeroports but I'd go with 4 to be safe- 12" Rl-p Infinite Baffle??
Well like I told you on another forum, I don't have direct experience with this type of setup, however I have heard success stories from others who have used TC2+ drivers in Dipole systems. Just so you know, I am trying to dig for more info on the ability of our drivers to perform in IB systems.. hopefully I'll receive back some commentary from those more experienced sooner rather than later.- Jamie
Those grills are sexay. I'll be getting one as soon as they're ready; to my knowledge they are still tweaking the design so that it will be compatable with high excursion drivers. B) If they're as sweet as they seem to be, I'm even considering designing a home theater woofer around it.- RL-p vs XXX
I appreciate all the comments everyone. It's good to know since I don't have direct experience with the XXX.. but at least now if a customer comes to me with a yearning to throw in 2kW in a ported box, I can defer them to different subs like the XXX while stating that mine is designed for less power ported, or optimally a sealed enclosure. Of course... I don't like giving away business so maybe I'll just have to start carrying a sub that spec's at 2000 wrms- 2 RL-p 12" box design
> mike, whatcha think? I think you guys are awesome for watching my back! Good rec's.- Most members online !!!!!!
Also, if you have a lot of directories on your server here that are just filled with images or stuff that you don't think should necessarily be indexed on search engines, either because it has sensitive or unrelated content, you can specify which folders should be avoided with a "robots.txt" text file in your root directory. The file needs to follow the following format, where User-Agent: * specifies which search engines should follow the rules (ie. if you only want specific spiders to use your rules, then remove the * and replace with each respective engine's name). After the User-Agent line, you write "Disallow:" and simply list all folders you don't want the spiders to index. For example, my soundsplinter robots.txt is as follows:- Most members online !!!!!!
Check your referrer logs; usually you'll see that the addresses come from a single domain or two, and 9 times out of 10 it's a search engine spider indexing your webpages for their content. It's great for upping your rank in the engines, but sometimes the load can seriously bog down slower servers- 2 RL-p 12" box design
Link to Port Calculation Equation 45 Hz is a bit high, I would recommend stayin' around 34 Hz.- 2 RL-p 12" box design
Kent's rec is solid. If you're lookin' for a touch more output, consider bumping up the combined net volume of the enclosure to 3.3-3.6 cu ft.- i'm done
I can feel the love! Kent, you da man and you best not leave SSA else we'll have to come hunt you down!- RL-p vs XXX
Definitely many thanks for the review Kent. I know a couple of you suggested that I might have wanted to step into that thread over at caraudio.com - not to say I wasn't watching it, but I just felt that it's best I stay out of it given the direction it was taking. Me saying anything about power would be futile anyway, since as most of us know, power constraints rely on much more than just the woofer being tested. I will eagerly await your comparison with more power and in larger boxes. I haven't played with an XXX myself (unless you consider past girlfriends ), so I have no idea how they will stack up in the proposed new environment. Given the current results though, it should be a tight race! Keep on keepin' on brother!- i'm done
Bummer.. one thing I've learned on the internet is that longevity will require very thick skin .. also, that in many cases it is better to just keep your mouth shut than to feed the fury of the flamers You know where I stand in this business, and if I ever start acting out of line I would hope that some of you people slap some sense into me! Honestly Kent, if you stop posting, that will take quite a bit of the joy out of the forums for me. The car audio community needs people who speak their piece based on experience, who aren't afraid to tell it like they see it, otherwise the madness will just perpetuate. On that note, you have to do what is right for you. See you around, and thank you for being such a solid customer and friend! - First Looks: SoundSplinter RL-i Series 8" Driver
