i like to feel alittle bump but in no way am i looking to flex the roof... i think after geting the hu and installing an active front stage ill be more then happy to lose alittle spl. however i think the 18 will hit the low end alot better. and if for some reason i could still throw another mj in there... if i have the room. ill go messure that now

ive been curious about running one of these ib. i have 300rms at 4ohm available. im going to be upgrading to a 2way active front stage and im considering ib for some improved sq but i dont want to lose tomuch spl.... currently i have a 12" AA arsenal in 2.2 cubes tuned to ~30 hz seeing 600rms (my amp is 300rms at 4, 600 at 2 /= kenword excelon kac x10d). i still need to take some messurements to see if it will fit in the ski way. maybe ill have to find a 15 or two... if i was to sell my sub and amp i bet i could get about 300-350 for them or about 200-250 for the sub/box. what does a sub need to be run ib? ive read either lots of cone area or lots of xmax?

oh wait nevermind there out... idk if they'll get more in or what... 2500.1 for sale tho...lol id take one... some is refurb and others are new... sorry if this didn't help but id figure u wouldnt mind another option. good luck with the buy.

kicker factory refurbs on ubid.com if your interested zx1000.1 for like 220ish... i got a my kx250.2 off there with no problems. u can add additional warrenty too.

i have a set of rsd 6.5s running passive off a kx250.2 and im very happy with them. ive read good things about ppl running them active aswell.

most of this wont happen till closer to xmas so ill defiantly get back to you all when i get closer to actually buying the equipment and finding people to sell my old stuff to. mean while i can do some research. ive looked at both of those receivers and it seems that its more likely that i can get the pioneer cheaper since it has all the processing stuff included. im not sure what to look for as far as receivers go. could someone briefly explain this and the difference of these 2 receivers? both seem to be very good and of course i understand that these both will do the job very well. could someone also provide me with links to reputable sites with cheap prices. I've done a lot of business with sites like sonicelectronix and crutchfield and of course SSA. ill probably get a second kx250.2 unless i sell the one i have. i do like the kicker amps and id love to sell the kenny for a 750.1... i got the 250.2 from ubid.com for like 75-85$ shipped.

so, like the title says, im begin to look into an active set up. right now i have chitty sony hu (cdx gt310.... first hu). im basicly looking to the option i should be considering when goin to an active set up. obviously im looking for new hu. my idea is to slowly work up the funds for it or put it on my xmax list. as a college student i really dont have the funds but im very interested in this hobby and i think this is the next step. well technically i will be deadening the front doors first and finishing the trunk. my plans are to sell my current hu and pg rsd components when the time comes ofcourse. i also need to run new rca's and clean up some power and gound wiring with some distro blocks. if anyone could please offer some constructive opinions? heres a list of my current equipment. hu- sony cdx gt 310 front stage- pg rsd 6.5" components front stage amp- kicker kx250.2 sub- AA arsenal 12" box- 2.2 net 30hz tune sub amp-kenwood excelon something 600rms kicker 4 gauge power and gounds monster cable cheap ass RCA's some dynamat installed in the trunk i think a roll of raammat for the front doors will leave me enough to finish the trunk. im reluctant to say but i do have a 1.2 farad tsunami cap.... ill try and sell it and get a new battery or get some 0 gauge and do the big three.... dont hurt me... if u need more info please ask. like i said this isnt happening anytime soon. i dont have the time or money but id would like any thoughts so please help. thanks

ohya ill have to check them out. ill take some measurements tomorrow and see how much room i got. i hope to do the the recommended 3 cubes tuned to what ever kicker has it at. i cant use win isd with my mac. is there another program i could use... i need to get windows so on this too(dual boot) for those kinda programs... the trunk opening limits me pretty badly and i will most likely have to build inside the trunk or come up with a way to build it in pieces. going thru back seat is worse unless i can take half the rear deck apart. also the trunk gets shorter the closer u get to the rear seat. if it was my car id be all over it. im kinda temped to aim the sub up and see what kinda damage it does to trunk and rear deck lol. it rattles that bad already in a little sealed box.

ok thanks thats what i needed to hear. i wish he got a 12... his trunk is just so annoying... ill let u know how it turns out. maybe we can just do a bigass sealed box if we get lazy.

ok so my bro has a 15" l7.... seems to be alot of these mentioned in the forum lol. right now its in a sealed 1.5 cube box. a kenwood kac something something powering it with 900rms. car is a mercury sable with the mach audio system. currently the amp is using a loc to get single but my bro will be geting a mtx req or similar device later this year. theres no deading in the car and it rattles like crazy as is.... sorry to anyone who has heard and affended by the rattle... hes geting like 2 rolls of raammat for xmas from my parents we picked up some mdf and liquid nail today and plan to do a new box for the sub. im hoping to do a ported box with a pretty spl oriented design. afew question on the design. sub mounted up or back? -trunk is pretty shallow so a mounting the sub up might help get more cubes out of the trunk. -which is louder? port side or back? -i read the another post about how a side port vs back. but i think a side port to the driver side would rattle the cd changer alittle to much. port tuning? -like i said he listens to alot of rap so i think a really low port like 30hz would be a waste of space. but i could be wrong. could someone give me a range of expectable ported box volumes.(net and total) ill post up some dimension for useable space. and the box will most likely be built in the trunk... if i cant meet an adequate ported box spec's would u recommend a larger sealed box?

he heard them in a wrx i think. im sure they sounded ok but i would think something like a ssa icon would sound alot better and and be close in spl as well....

please someone tell me so i can tell my friend alpine Type R is not the best thing around!!! he said he hear 2 12s ported runing off the 1000rms alpine amp. srry forgot the model #. a list of sub(s) that can beat them in sq and spl in the same price range would shut him up or atleast change his mind alittle....

thanks for all the advice. ill see what i can do. i think ill do straight deading. i havent use fiberglass yet. i like that idea with the plastic but it sound just as tricky. im goin for an competion quality install here and so i think a good layer or 2 of damp will do the trick. just finished the mdf baffles to fit my 6.5" woofers in the stock 5.25 location. its kind of a nigger rig but sould work just fine...

i was wondering about doing the outer door skin. so a layer on both? my car seems to get alittle moisture in the door from rain. will that be a problem after applying?

ive got a pretty good size door on my car. i figured 8-10 per layer but i havent made any messurements. i gona order the 40 sq ft of damp. so i can get 1 complete layer on each door and use the rest equally, and as most effective as possible.

im guessing it take about 8-10 square foot of it to cover a door. so sould i go with 2 layers of damplifer or 1 layer of pro??
