  1. you would want dvc 4ohm for a 1ohm load if you go with one amp. http://www.db-r.com/sell/store3/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_45_61&products_id=98&zenid=3aaqg0itbiamvbl6ph2am5touq2p15ik
  2. looks good, what material do you use to stretch over then mounting rings? fleece?
  3. the Q and BL are totally different subs. comparing xmax is ridiculous as the BL is significantly louder on the same power compared to the Q. Nothing in your post tells me that the Q is the right choice for you at all. Drop the Q from your list and think about the BL, Xcon, etc. Also, the difference in 1500 and 2000 watts is insignificant (no audible difference) so pick a reliable/cheap option and put the remaining funds into something else.
  4. Spectrogram is kind of neat.
  5. or maybe it aliens
  6. my brother's install has a spooky noise. makes the noise with car on and off. https://soundcloud.com/killwish-1/my-recording-3?in=killwish-1/sets/noise need to work through the troubleshooting guide
  7. right, I think i'll approach tuning this area a bit differently in my install. ported kicks sounds pretty nuts. would love to see it.
  8. It can, but that isn't the right question. The real question is for what listening levels will doppler distortion and output over run the 4. The goal of a 3 way is to give the FR driver enough support on both ends, but to try to invade on its response as little as possible. Easiest way to have a point source is to use a single driver. Obviously in those mounting locations and with the low frequency noise floor in a car a single 4 on each side isn't enough. Doppler distortion, interesting stuff, guess I have some reading to do.
  9. Why cant the W6-1721 play >120hz?
  10. I also run a pair of 2x4's. nothing else to really add. here is a picture of the dsp layout for the minidsp 2wayadv plugin. it would great if you could choose graphic or parametric without switching to a different plugin.
  11. Copy the miniDSP and call it done. Easy. with a tad more output voltage plz
  12. iirc mosconi's dps has android control via bluetooth. I heard minidsp is working on something similar as well. control from your phone would be much nicer than plugging in a laptop.
  13. pretty basic geometry. just break it down into triangles and rectangles, find area, and multiply by depth to find volume.
  14. yep thats how it works. but the question is, in bridged mode do just 2 or 4 control gain. i assume 2
  15. there isn't a 5.25" inch midbass on the market that could keep up with a pair of 12s. what is the lpf for the sub and hpf for the midbass? This sounds like more of a installation issue. Crossover settings, sound deadening, and so forth.
  16. it was probably boomy because the bass was over power the midbass.
  17. no room for ported? if you could sell the RF for a 1000 wrms amp and not lose any money on the deal than that would an OK upgrade. Take note, the increase in output is only 3db theoretically. Real world output will be 1-2db. Which is only slightly louder, audibly. No point running more than rated power on dcons. the better (cost effective) option would be to lower the noise floor in the vehicle with sound deadening.
  18. well if you're running a pair of dcons you wont need that much power. you wont hear much a difference in output and you'll run the risk of damaging the subs. I'd look at some other amps. take a screen shot of the box in sketchup and upload it to your preferred image hosting site. then post it here. edit: i should say that you could use the amp if you like. but dcons wont take that kind of power and certainly dont need that much. so keep the gain down a bit
  19. Looks great. Great timing, I think i picked up on a few tricks before I start my kick panels tomorrow.
  20. you should probably contact them directly. personally I wouldn't be happy with a sloppy glue job.
  21. Is it way cheaper? ~$1.58 a square foot for pond liner versus ~2.10 for MLV. Unless you buy the pond liner by the pallet, in which case it's closer to 1.20 a square foot. http://www.homedepot.com/p/Unbranded-dB-3-4-ft-x-8-ft-Acoustical-Barrier-DB348X96BX/100663624?quantity=4#specifications thought about doing the floor of my car with this. 0.75lb/ft2 so I would have to consider doubling up. No need to double up. 24lbs. @ 4' x 8' x 80 mils is the same density as the MLV. Great find! density isn't a big deal unless you have clearance issues where higher density = thinner material.
