  1. anyone else's forum time screwed up? settings are for the correct time zone buy the forum time is 6 hours ahead.
  2. mad skillz
  3. get out more. It is SO hard to find anything edible in the south it is absurd. Just spent neatly $3k on food in New orleans and wasn't really impressed even if it were way cheaper. it was probably the 12 hours on the road prior to eating that made the steak taste so good.
  4. I would hold your evaluation until you finish installing them properly (deadening). you could experiment with other tweeter placements/aiming. I use duct seal to stick them different places (a pillars, doors, etc).
  5. install is the only way to do that. can't beat physics
  6. deffinitely. I need to come see the haunt this year if I can. Still job hunting so who knows where I'll be by oct They hiring any physic majors out your way? haha
  7. by end of the vent do you mean were the port begins/ends INSIDE the box or the opening visible from outside? im asuming inside i just want to be sure though yes
  8. universal level control, https://www.google.com/search?q=universal+gain+control+car+audio&safe=off&es_sm=93&source=lnms&sa=X&ei=IUE5U5_mDpDq0QHwrIAo&ved=0CAcQ_AUoAA&biw=1920&bih=955&dpr=1 if your amp doesn't have a remote
  9. hopefully you understand what's caused the lead to tear? over excursion. check your setting, enclosure, and install. make sure the SSF is set correctly.
  10. still feeling it from my 24hr round trip (1200+ miles) from PA to SC for a transmission. wasn't for my car and i'm not sure why the closest place for an acura transmission is in SC. lol would not have been so bad had we not left at midnight. we pulled into a random restaurant in SC and had what probably was the best steak i've ever had.
  11. that is a dps, haven't seen that one before actually. i know the deq 8 is the minidsp built unit, not sure about that design however. the usb dac that i posted is a digital to analog converter. when plugged into a tablet like the nexus 7 you get audio out via usb (digital) instead of using the headphone out (analog).
  12. i would think the port would only need to have the same cross-sectional area. shape shouldn't matter. so if you do some maths and make the rectangular section of the port have the same area as the rear section of the port (the part along the slanted portion of the wall is a parallelogram) you'll be fine. this is why you use 45's in the corners for slot ports typically.
  13. you could alway try ported on with the small enclosure and if it sounds bad just seal the port up. consider an external port, perhaps
  14. when you're modeling sealed vs ported remember that the volume is NET not gross. so that ported box will actually be much larger when you include port displacement. here are a few things to compare, 1. sealed 12" 2. small ported 12" 3. recommended ported for the 12" (for comparison) 4. 10" ported (because you should have gotten a 10" if you need the low end but dont actualy have room) take a look at the spl graph with the subs seeing the same power.
  15. haven't looked into them too much, wont need one for my setup if the 3.5mm headphone out does its job. probably a few others out there but i dont remember any specific models.
  16. Uh, am I stupid or is there no way to watch the video? I've clicked on every link to no avail. on pc? http://www.autoblog.com/2014/03/30/ford-raptor-rolls-down-assembly-line-dearborn-video/?ncid=txtlnkusaolp00000599
  17. ya, hardware. i was thinking about using Behringer UCA202 for nexus 7. not sure which m5 went with.
  18. cheapest copper you can find. welding cable is usually the cheapest or close to it. http://www.wireandsupply.com/category_s/58.htm http://www.weldingsupply.com/cgi-bin/einstein.pl?Next::1:UNDEF:OR:terms::PA 00 or 0 gauge (seems to be the case that car audio 0 gauge is oversized and closer to 00 welding cable)
  19. wire is cheap, just do it. if it doesn't help so what?
  20. thats pretty cool, how does it handle the gain when the channels are bridged?
  21. probably best to keep it sealed. low end output wont be as strong as a ported enclosure but thats the trade off (a bit of eq to flatten any peaks would be best of course). unless you can find ~2 cu ft net somewhere. need that spare tire? alternatively you could consider either trading it for a 10" or reconing to a 10" another idea, if you need to save space is to consider an infinite baffle set up.
  22. could try fixing it first. i think people use "shoe goo" because it is more flexible compared to superglues, epoxy, etc.
  23. how exactly are you planning to crossover the drivers?
  24. lol maybe they actually do sound pretty good? sometimes that cheap shit will surprise you. the pwx and the boss bullet tweeter do not advertise t/s parameters. without any way to gauge their performance objectively than we should assume they're trash.
