  1. I think I read about people downfiring a sealed 12 in a Jeep. That box could be around 11'' tall x 13'' deep x whatever width you can use.
  2. I agree, this was a very informative build log. Good work.
  3. Thanks for the tip LilBlacky but I ordered what scottiej recommended already this morning. Hopefully it works but if not, I know what my next attempt will be!
  4. Here are some updated pictures: The box doesn't look the best but it performs pretty great. Gets loud and low. It also pretty decent on normal music like Dave Matthews Band, Pink Floyd, Tom Petty, CCR, and whatever else I typically listen to. But it is a little too deep at the top so I'm going to have to find a way to build a new box that is a typical wedge style truck box with the port firing into a corner. I don't like how the tweeter is mounted so I'm going to figure out a way to mount it inside the door panel. My batteries died when I was going to take pictures of the deadener under the carpet and behind the doors, so I'll have to get those later. Also, I'm almost done with the BIG 3 but I'm waiting to do the battery + to alternator + when the new posts for my powermaster xs1200 gets in, then I'll have pictures of under the hood. But all in all I'm very impressed with how everything sounds. The PG RSD 6.5's sound amazing for only being $87. The 10'' Bl gets loud and low, rediculously impressive for being one 10. And once the new battery is in I'm going to bring it to an audio-shop and have them dial the amps in with a scope. Raamat is the chit and last but not least the sundown 100.2 is sexy as hell.

If you are on a budget get the bl ported but if you have money to spend get the 2 q's. The enclosure will be roughly the same size either way you go. I love my bl ported but I've heard great things about the q as well.
  6. I wasn't aware that I needed to buy new posts or terminals for the battery, I just assumed it came with it. I went to Pep Boys, Autozone, and a local auto-parts store that my friend's dad owns and couldnt find the parts I needed. I also called Powermaster but I called 15 min too late. ScottieJ, it is a huge benefit to us all that you are here to answer these random questions for us, thank you. So how do I order these 586 terminals? Does Jegs have them or do I have to order directly through Powermaster? I need them as soon as possible because the BIG 3 is begging to be done! Thanks for all the help johnecon and scottiej.
  7. According to re audios box builder that is 6.0ft^[email protected] before sub displacement. If you want it to be 6.2@32 make the box w: 37 h: 19 d: 28 with a 7'' wide port that goes 7'' before the back wall and turns another 12'' to the side. That should make it 6.15@32 according to re's box builder.
  8. what program did you use to design that?
  9. I have my bl10 in 1.1-1.2@33hz or so on a jl 1000/1 and it gets impressively loud for a 10. Louder than the two 12'' kappa perfects I had sealed. It is obviously great for rap but it is acceptable for other genres as well. When I listen to Pink Floyd or Tom Petty or anything other than rap I just turn the subwoofer control on my headunit down so it blends better. I would highly recommend it for what you are looking for. I can't comment on the HDC3 because I haven't heard one, but the bl is a great daily pounding woofer.
  10. The big 3 was supposed to be getting done today as well. Although the 1/0 I got from welding supply seems much smaller than the hyperflex I used for the amps.
  11. My xs1200 came in yesterday and I'm putting it in today. But the positive and negative terminals are on different sides compared to my factory batterys terminals. And if I rotate the 1200 and have the terminals on the correct side, they become too far away for my factory wires to connect. How do I go about solving this problem? Also, it didn't come with new posts for the factory wires to connect to, do I just bring the battery to Pep Boys or whatever and see if they have posts that will fit?

I ordered the xs1200 yesterday morning, I can't wait for it to get here!
  13. Youll move to Cali just to work for a audio company? Don't forget how will you live (don't say your car) , pay for gas, and anything else on your list of things to survive. Haha Curt I thought they were in Vegas?
  14. If you want loud, go ported. Musical accuracy, go sealed. I will add that 2 12's will still get loud even if sealed. But the ported will be louder.
  15. I don't have the room to add another one. I read that a 3'' aero would be enough port area for my box size though. Do you think the port noise can be from not sealing the 90 onto the tube well enough?
  16. So I messed around with my amp during my lunch break and played some songs pretty hard. The noise I'm hearing is most definitely chuffing coming from the port. I don't have a clue how I'm getting so much port noise. I might try and designing a new box with the port firing into a corner or something but this would bring the box down to 1ft@35 or so. Does anyone think this would reduce port noise?
  17. I ordered my 10'' bl on the 4th and got it on the 17th. So expect at least two weeks from the day you ordered it. I'm the most impatient person in the world and would check the tracking at least 10 times a day, haha. But once it got here it was definitely worth the wait
  18. yep, that would be plenty
  19. I fooled around with the settings on the amp a little bit and I didn't notice the noise as much. Now I just hear some port noise. But I guess having a port that close to your head will make you hear it easier. I am very very impressed by the amount of bass coming out of that 10'' bl. Now I just need to figure out how to dial in that JL amp. This is a totally different subject but I tried setting the gain with a 50hz tone and I couldn't get the fluke meter to read a steady voltage. I followed the directions on JL's website and I couldn't get it right.
  20. Thanks for all the tips/advice guys. I'll try it out after work.
  21. Cardinals fans are the worst in the world. I lived 20 min away from St. Louis for two years and I'm never going back, haha.
  22. I don't think that is what mine is. My port is firing up towards the ceiling, but its a good 3 ft. away. I'm thinking it is just port noise, but I don't know how I can be getting port noise from such a small enclosure with a 3'' aero. Maybe my port has a leak in it on the inside of the enclosure, can that cause port noise?
  23. has anyone else heard this "slapping noise" coming out of their port before?
  24. I only had it hooked up for about 30 min last night because it was my first build and I couldn't wait any longer to hear how it turned out. Not too well I guess But I took the amp out of the truck and it is back in the house with the other pieces waiting to be installed.
  25. I must say I was very impressed with the bl though. It is built like a tank and is much heavier than I anticipated. I probably won't be able to resolve the noise issue until this weekend when I get the seats and carpet out of the truck and have some room to move around.
