How do you get the spider off of the sub???
yes, yes it is. Well, You can keep the basket as well Unless You dont want to grind the spider & surround bits off of it, then You can order a new one of those as well. Notice, You'll need to solder in new VC lead wires as well. Alot of folks forget about that beforehand. -Nick

Welcome to the IHoP
so... i got a little carried away this evening... I fully blew the Infinity reference mids (that i was had passed 65-250hz). Damn things were getting 80rms actual (@100hz). *fizzle*rattle*scratch*bup bup bup* I'm also out a tweet. damned psgr tweet started missing notes about the same time. suxor. Good thing that I've got that set of Orion P6s in the basement. And a set of JBL mids just got shipped out to me... perfect timing. heh. Maybe relegate the CDT mids to midbass duty in the Alero. Bah

thats WAY too low for in car use IMO. You'll barely have a benefit ported that low. prolly'll yield a wicked dip in response curve as well. 8 cube does seem damned big, but keep it under 1-1.5 kw and she should be alright mechanically. sound? A lil boomy, but huge.

Welcome to the IHoP
So... i spent a couple of hours with my truck today... With regards to audio - it's been nothing more then a testbed since I bought it. Nine or ten different boxes, maybe more. A bunch of amps, yadda yadda. So i'd left all my wiring out for easy swaps. Well, I finally ran the 8004 to it's final hidden location and hid everything but the Distro block. Then I made a big ugly new box and stuck an amp to it. LoL Pics tomorrow Tom, after I tune and test. Steve - If You are still debating about porting the Uber... DO IT. DO IT. I tore down the 5.0ft box that I'd been using to burp the DD and rebuilt it for the Uber. 4.7ft net, 42 sq in of port tuned to ~34 hz. Tied a 2500D to her in at 1.6 ohm nominal and cruised. Honestly, I am VERY IMPRESSED with the output. For a single 15" with an unknown amount of wattage... in a decent ported, chit she Did impress me. Thats all on that for now, Tomorrow afternoon I'll test & tune her, get the wattage and impedance figures, and burp one or twice. Honestly, for a brief moment I could have mistaken her for the (2) SX15" install I had a few months ago. I wont comment so much on the SQ as yet, I havent spent anytime setting up my HU. -Nick

- How do you get the spider off of the sub???
sorry, I'm with kickin audio... I assumed that You were actually reconing the woofer. Not just trying to replace the coil. Um, You would have to seperate all the pieces VERY carefully and cleanly (heat gun, CA dissolver, chisel) to get to the former itself. HUMONGOUS PITA. Recone the whole baby. -Nick- Welcome to the IHoP
yOU, sIR GOT pp THANKS- Welcome to the IHoP

WHY do You have a studded belt?- How do you get the spider off of the sub???
oohh. assumjing that You have the recone parts: cut the spiders all the way around. Cut the coil leads as well. Pull the assembly out. You'll need to put ducttape or similar over the gap at this point, to make sure that nothing gets in there. Now grind, pry, scrape, cut, or dissolve the glue that is keeping the remaining bits of spider to the basket. - How do you get the spider off of the sub???
