Linear Motor Technology - A Reference
Precisely. I'm not arguing with yah at all bud.. I'm still excited to play with the tech, for all of the above reasons. -Nick

Ported Ecnlosures & You
Kent asked for this a while ago... I dug up some links. Enjoy. http://audioforum.termpro.com/cgi-bin/ubb/...ic;f=8;t=021625 http://forum.soundillusions.net/showthread.php?t=45647 http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hbase/pfric.html Good reading, good points, easy read. -Nick

Linear Motor Technology - A Reference
that's been the reason for some saying the xbl^2 is better..less mass, more efficient..blah,blah,blah.... in real world apps, i doubt anyone will notice a difference..especially just everyday consumers. but hey, i'm not as smart as some of u technical guys when it comes to that end of subs..lol....so what do i know?? anyway, mike has yet to mislead me in anyway, so i'll trust his judgement on the technology. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I could care less about this vs DW's brainchild... I'm thinking in terms of LMT vs "Regular" TC Sounds over & underhungs. Most likely, in the average install (recommended box & nominal power), the difference will be negligible. But for the enthusiasts that are going to build an enclosure around this woofer and put the appropriate power & signal processing into it... I'm thinking the gains & losses of the design will show. But, as you said elsewhere... this is just another useless post. By me this time though. -Nick

No one accounts for inflation. Current gas prices adjusted for inflation and cost of living versus the GDP show that gas is CHEAPER NOW then it was in the late '70s & early '80s. We are going to use it no matter waht, we are addicted to it and our lives do revolve around it in far too many ways to list... and really, is $0.04/gallon going to cost you that much more or less? I fill up ~every 2 weeks, so that would be $16.64 per year - $998.40 over the next 60 years............ [/rant] Sorry, not aimed at You, Kent. 7 minute drive to the closest gas station across the border for me That includes the drive to the border ... It's definitely worth it. The arseho who runs the place tried to jack the prices up only for Canadians, until he realized he was actually making money because his store is in the middle of nowhere and people were actually buying gas from him. I'm convinced the premium gas down there is better than the premium gas up here - even though the same bloody truck probably delivered to both places <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It's the additives that make the difference. "Noco" & "Mom&Pops Gas Shop" get the same petrol... it's the respective additives that make the performance, emissions, cost, etc... differences. -Nick

Relays (Multiple Amplifiers)
So that's a yes for a .5 on each run? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes, with rem's I think of the incindiery carpet & countless other wires that I wouldnt want to melt. ...and, of course the output of the HU. I voted earlier. _nick

My only real concern about the design has been the same old complaint: mass of the coil. With the "ends" on there, thats a bit more moving mass.

You can never have too many fuses in a daily driven vehicle IMO.

Mercedes Alt
There is a thread at termpro OT section... group buy on excessive amperage alts. I've emailed & chatted with Nathan a little, really helpful dude. I've already ordered a 250 amp (@900rpm) alt for $300 for the Mustang... Will be ordering a 200amp for a teammates Escort for $250... As far as reliability goes... ask Steve (Iggster) - He's run an excessive in his car for the last couple of years. BTW - Ohio Gen wanted $450ish for a similar alt for the stang. Hope this helps. -Nick
