  1. Are you sure you want to do that to your family car?
  2. Removing seats/mats you don't use? I would think that the fabric or leather would soak up some of the sound...
  3. At least you don't have to work out tonight.
  4. Holy $hit I saw this thing on the news tonight. $300 seems a bit too low for technology like this. I wonder if it can cause cancer...

    How thick is that MDF?
  6. I wish I could have seen this thread earlier. I would have recommended buying a jump rope...
  7. Is that a problem?
  8. Maybe. It would be my first box so I don't want to embarrass myself . But I have all my measurements ready to go. As soon as I can get my hands on a jigsaw I'm on my way
  9. I'm pretty psyched. Can't wait for it to get here

  11. Haha I didn't even know that there was a chat until I read this thread. I'm gonna start idling in there and see if it starts to get populated.
  12. Now you are taking this way too far. This is no place for immature talk like that. :banhim: :banhim: :banhim: :banhim:
  13. Back to the alternator. There is no way a 90A alternator will support the power you will want to have during those competitions. You should get the 225A to give yourself a chance at those competitions That's what I would do. It will be very loud even for daily. And since you aren't looking to be the loudest guy on the road you probably won't even use all that power.
  14. There is a difference between asking a question where you just don't know the answer to, and asking a question where the answer is right in front of your face but you choose to not accept it so you ask it again and again hoping that someone will tell you what you want to hear. It's alright that people ask these kind of questions. Thats how people learn. But then when he didn't hear what he wanted to hear he got aggressive with me and told me to "fuk off". That's not how you get people to help you. I don't want help from YOU. You still have your attitude going. So feel free to leave this thread and not post here or in any of my posts anymore. Lol. I didn't tell you what you wanted to hear so you are all upset. It's ok though. But I'll say this though. You will have one heck of a learning experience. Good luck and hopefully the problems you do have won't cost a fortune. Be careful and good luck.
  15. Hey man

  17. Thank you! This is how people are on the forums that I am used to. I guess I'm not used to the people that sit there with an attitude like ''gee I already know this...why should I take the time to explain it to this idiot.'' And sometimes the info/specs that a manufacturer give do not work all that well in the real world....THAT is why I was asking if MY specs were acceptable. Does this make sense to anybody or am I a complete fudgeing idiot with no common sense? Hope there are some more decent people on here............................................ You are asking the same question again. You asked if that box and tuning frequency is ok for the woofer. And I'll say it again. Is 6 cuft within the recommended ported box sizes? Is 32 hz tuning in the recommended box tuning? You just answered your own question. And why would a manufacturer give WRONG specifications and recommendations? You are definitely asking the wrong questions and I won't be surprised is you blow your subwoofer later. I bet you'll blame the BL too. It's never going to be your fault. But to give you the answer you WANT to hear. YES. Build your box that is 6 cuft and tuned to 32 hz. And try it out.
  18. Good luck with your build
  19. ok man......nobody said ''as long as if it's in spec its fine'' that would have been all I needed to hear............. all I heard was just to build it ''safe for the woofer'' WTF. How was I supposed to know? I can't read fuking minds......I've never had a subwoofer like this...... So you get some respect and fuk off.....u seem like that type of person that thinks they're 'all that' too......and I can't fuking stand that. You need to calm the f... down and listen to yourself. You are asking the stupidest questions. You think there is a God given Holy Grail to box making and you are getting pissed off because you cant find it and no one can give you the answer you want to hear. You need to use your common sense (if you have any) and look at the specifications, power handling, and recommended tuning. Follow those guidelines and you will be fine. Don't be reckless with your equipment and you won't have to worry about having inconvenient problems.
  20. Personally you should do a LOT of research before jumping into buying a set of floor standers. If you bought those Polk speakers I would only shake my head. HTIB is not the way to go.
  21. What the f...? You don't need us to tell you if your box is within specifications. Just look at the damn numbers. And think about your questions before you ask them. Don't get aggressive with people who spend time to help you reach your goal. Talk about disrespect...
  22. OK.......I already knew that......I was asking if the tuning frequency and size of the box would be safe for the woofer.................... Well the tuning frequency also decides what sound you want. If you want to hit the whole spectrum then tune low. But if you want the few extra dB's then tune a little higher. But just go with the recommended tuning for the BL's. I know its on the Fi website. All of the specifications are there too. Go with the recommended and then play around later.
  23. NO. You need room behind the motor. I forgot how many inches but I think if you left 3 or 4 inches behind the motor then it should be fine. Just take it off of your height. I would probably do 12D 19H 14W and see how that works. Like I said, worst comes to worst you just have to build another box. But its so small it probably wouldn't be that big of a deal. Reinforcements also are not needed. You dont need bracing until maybe the 3 cuft range. You'll be fine You could go wedge but I'm assuming this is a first box. Wedges are more complicated, let alone you need more tools to get the job done. Stick with what you already got.
  24. Sure... That is the information that we need to help you out. Going with a perfect square box will create a peak in the resonance frequency which knocks off the flat response and thats not what people strive for when building sealed boxes. But other than that, the recommended dimensions of a sealed enclosure for a Fi Q12 are between .8-1.5 cuft. I personally would go with the biggest I can go. That will give you the deepest sound and your lows won't be cheated. The dimensions are up to you really. But make sure the box volume you make is 1.66. Also IMO is that 1.5 cuft is not much at all. The worst that could happen is that you are not satisfied with the sound and you build a different box. You probably wont even go through a sheet of MDF for both builds.
