  1. I'm really curious if anyone is running A (real)16.9v system can help. For burps its great but I want to know how it does as a day in and day out daily slammer.I have ran a 16v set up and I really turn it up daily. Everything would heat up after 3 or 4 songs at full volume.
  2. It really just depends on what your goals are and how much you want to spend. As with most things better at first always more money to keep up maintenance.
  3. I would hate for you to spend that kind of money on a worst comes to worst reply.18v from the alt should be within their range then.I myself don't trust 16v set up for daily it will get hot quick and is really hard on amps and alts in general.
  4. I figured I would adjust it so the amps actually saw around 17.5. If that means I lose a volt from the front to the back I guess I'd be charging them at 18.5. I'm going to be using the alts on the 12v setup I have at the moment until I can buy the batteries- who knows if it works good enough maybe I wont go 16, but I'd rather try it than wonder what if. Would 17.5 at the amp and (from what you're saying #'s wise) 18.5 at the batts be enough? 18.5 to the batts is good for the 16.9v batteries just check with memphis on the amps.Do they mean 16.0v or an actual 16volt charging set up which is really 16.9.If they say the amps will take it sweet run it at 18.5 and let-er wang!
  5. Yea we looked at all possible year makes and models their rough for sure.
  6. The solution of what? Maybe you can develop a sentence checker for us lesser newbie's thanks Read the title of your thread...you even say solution Word has a grammar checker, use it. Thanks for the post
  7. At idle when cold. After the alts warm up a bit they settle to around 15.6 to 15.8 pending on how im bumping.
  8. I would rather see full batteries on a 14 volt than half on a 16.9volt. (In general) If you charge a 16.9v battery at 17-17.5v your amps will only see 16v you lose around a volt through your system. When your car is off and your batteres are at rest they rest almost 2volts less than they were charged at so you would be at 15-15.5v (note a 16v battery is acuality 16.9 alot closer to 17v than 16v) MLA
  9. Thanks for the info on that, it helps a lot. I wasn't sure I thought they charged around 18v at the most, but I was told by someone they floated around 16.8-16.9. Will there be any problems running the batteries at 17-17.5v with only turning it up for comps? I would be afraid to go over 17.5 daily, and even though I wouldn't be taking full advantage of the equipment it should be safer for daily usage, right? I have been told by several people that it doesn't matter if the batteries have less storage- that I will need fewer batteries to achieve the same thing with a higher voltage setup, and that's sort of what I'm counting on. Thanks for the help, now I just need to find someone who can sell me powermaster alts- since advance is the only local dealer and they don't carry the alts I need. I thought I had a guy who could get them for me but I can't get in touch with him and the next closest place is about 180 miles away If you want it right you should do a duel set so you can run one at 18+ you need to charge at the least 1volt more than the battery if not you will be under charging your 16.9volt set up.Not good under charging will cause storage issuse and can limit your compacity. If your wanting high current set up for comps 16.9v 30sec. burps will do but for daily your batteries won't be able to get enough current to keep up for daily driver. This was my own lesson learned.Hope you get your alt awnser I'll see if I can get some options from Scottie.
  10. If you were to run stand alone alts. seperate from your car you could do the 18v alt and leave it on your batts. If you use the kinetic 16.9volt batteries you will need to charge them around 18.9v for a full charge. HC batteries need about 2.8volts per cell to charge there are 7 cells in the 16.9 I'm pretty sure.Only thing with the higher voltage batteries you will have less storage capacity than their 2400.Hope this helps.
  11. im not trying to be an ass or nothing but no one would answer and i actully found what i needed on a different web site not on here its all good tho all that matters is i got the info i needed More batteries will be better sorry you feel no one cared.
  12. The solution of what? Maybe you can develop a sentence checker for us lesser newbie's thanks
  13. Not trying to be, just want people to know there are awnsers for voltage drops since no one had awnsers for me when I had questions. MLA
  14. Actually all OBDII equipped vehicle can handle up to 24V in case of spikes. Of course it is ONLY for spikes, but 15 Volts will present no problem to any of your electronics in your vehicle. What I could worry most about is overheating/charging a standard 12 volt battery at that voltage. We have our first ever module on a 1997 ford 3g it has been on the truck nearly four years now @ 15.3v his battery is 8 years old and hasn't happened yet I don't see a issue with this.Your alternator still has the ability to back off when hot and or when your batteries are full. Our unit will shut down as well @ 160 degrees. If your trying to compare 15.5 continuous to 24v spike thats huge the cars red zone is around 17.5 you will be way under that.I have never seen a alternator spike that much.If your car is in a cold climate it may charge .5 to max a volt for a few minuets till temp raises. When charging at 15.5v your battery should rest around 13.5 right at full charge. My batteries set at 14v even with charging at 16.2v.Please let me know of all your concerns so we may help you to understand we look at safety first. Thanks (MLA)
  15. Fords are easy with the module you will need to splice 1 wire from the A side of your alternator.Mount the unit and connect the ground wire from the module run the wire harness to you alt. connect your splices (connectors included) to our yellow wire.Enclosed is all these instructions and no worries just call we can walk you through it if you'd prefer. Thanks MLA
  16. I have duel alts at 16.2volts no smoke most car volt meters don't even see red till 18volts you will be no where near that @ !5.5.Will work fine on 1- 4 batteries. No worries mine cars not paid off wife would kill me if I fried it. MLA
  17. By upping your voltage 1 full volt you can increase your charging power to your batteries for a stronger fuller charge and will give you longer playing time.Hope we can help (MLA) hey bro instead of spamming your company in everyones thread why not get in contact with the admin here and maybe he can give your product its own section like everyone else He has a similar issue like I was having.Just letting him know there are solutions that alternators alone may not fix.I'm new and just trying to help cause no one had a awnser for mine and it sucked. Sorry you took it as spamming don't want to come off like that. Thanks MLA
  18. Your car will see both set ups, after all your car runs off the battery which sees your power via internally or externally regulated alternators and which your battery runs your car so regulators control your alt then powers your battery the computer will still read the same to your electronics. So yes your right but externally you still haven't fixed your computer problem. This is for people who have newer cars and will get warning lights from their computer. Also for people who don't want to mess with the external option and want to use their stock alternator and or stock set up with high output alt.You will still have the internal regulator which will regulate your power just with better stronger charge. The new GM cars some in 03 all since 05 have a 80%charging rule, and which would kick out when I would plug in my second alternator. So we developed our unit to take back control of the alternators. We also work on older set ups.We can get a wide range of voltage set points from 14v to 24v to accommodate most needs. MLA
  19. I thought the same thing until I looked in my owner's manual where it says between 11- 18 volts was safe for the electrical system.Naturally when you first start your car (cold) your alternator will run up 15 plus volts factory we just make this increase permanent. We run both on the hummer no problems if I thought it would fry I wouldn't use it after all I still owe on it.Your alternator will still function as far as backing off when hot and when batteries are full just at a higher voltage. MLA

  21. And is also wrong...the amp clips sooner, but that is not DC...close but not DC Your out put on your amp is ac,but in low voltage situations some amps produce a dc bias or dc offset which will lead to heat build up in subs.Hope this helps sorry for the veage reply.
  22. Im sure we can help would need you to check as to which plug you have the dogleg four ,or the straight four.By adding 1volt to your charging system you gain around 200 more continious watts to your system.
  23. By increasing your voltage your amperage will go up as well they kinda run hand in hand.If your wanting a 16volt system be advised you will need to charge at 18volt to maintain a 16.9 volt battery like kinetic ect...Unless you have a 12 plus battery bank 4 alts might be overkill I do fine with duel alts at 16volt module set point with 12 -kinetic 2400.My amps only see 15.1v of the 16v charge and do put out more power but have better power longer which helps the amps from clipping.
  24. By upping your voltage 1 full volt you can increase your charging power to your batteries for a stronger fuller charge and will give you longer playing time.Hope we can help (MLA)
