  1. so anyone have personal experience using a 12" bl for the purpose of randomness? how much is too much port for it? could i go w/ say a 3ft box with like 60sq. in of port?
  2. more port area. at least 2, even 3 four inch ports would do a lot better. like stated, a slot port would be a good idea imo
  3. .159* sqrt(1.84x10^8xport area)/((box cubic inches* (port length+.823*(sqrt(port area)) works for me. its the formula on the JL site under tutorials - ports
  4. finally i can post again! thanks for the replys guys. its a 12. yes, spl only. ill just throw it on the meter with the box to see what kind of numbers it can put up. i have my daily box on the side (2.2 @ 32) (that one did a 140.3 before (dont know freq.) so, ill probably go 2.5. when you say "a lot" of port area, how much are you talking about? should i go more than the 14-16 per cu. ft recommended by fi? oh, and the vehicle is a 97 4runner. dont know where the vehicle peaks. hopefully someone else knows.
  5. so i have a d2 bl that will be on a saz1500 and was wondering on basic guidelines for a box. im looking for input from those who have played with em, or can tell me from other experiences whether or not 2.0 w/ around 40^2in of port would be okay. with the sub and amp in consideration should i go bigger/smaller, more/less port?
  6. payment sent
  7. im looking at using the ib3, and was wondering if there are any technicalities that i would need to take into consideration before doing it in my car. i would place the baffle behind my rear seat, and seal everything off w/ fiberglass where it goes under the rear deck and between the wheel wells/strut towers. anything else to take into consideration?
  8. no info on this? the phone's going straight to voicemail so i cant get a hold of you guys.
  9. hey, ive been trying to contact you guys about recones for my 2 8" assassins that i sent in a while ago. ive been emailing scott back and forth, but my last email was last week, and he told me he'd call me on monday for my card info. its now friday, and i still havent heard anything from fi. i tried calling today and left a message, but no reply...any updates for me? im desperately waiting for my two cute drivers to show up.
  10. im planning on building a spl box for my 12" BL and would like some input from people with experience on a basic design to work around. for an spl box, i know people sometimes use a smaller box with more port area. my daily box is at 1.8ft^3 tuned to 33 with 26.5in of port area. approx how much port area would be ideal for this sub in say, a 1.5 cu ft box? im powering it with a hifonics bx1606d @ 1ohm and its in a 97 4runner, so anyone have ideas on tuning freq also?
  11. whats the displacement on these things? .05 or so?
  12. actually, im back in washington for school now, so the zip would be 99163. i know they fit in the flat rate boxes, so would that route for shipping be possible? thanks for the help scott. btw, i love the 12" BL
  13. scott, approximately how much would a recone on an assassin 8 cost? how much for return shipping to WA state?
  14. ok that sounds good. oh and to answer your other question, i just got the pole chamfer option.
  15. yes, hilo as in hawaii. im on the mainland for school right now though. Scotts right, you go to vegas and you see hawaii people everywhere! especially downtown. its very true that some places in hawaii are so expensive that only millionaires can live there...kinda sad. everyones moving to vegas and the pacific northwest. anyway scott, i emailed you asking about if i could get the spkr before the 13th. this still possible? thanks for the input guys
  16. i dunno if they thought u were using a single 3" round port or what, but it was unclear, and i think it should be ok with 45in^2 of port area.
  17. think itll be enough to get the sub moving well? im making a transition from a bx1000d and 15" ava to the 12" bl so im hoping the output diff wont be too drastic
  18. placed an order this weekend for a 12" BL that will be running off of a hifonics 1606. i've drawn out plans for a box thats 2.33@33hz w/33 sq. in. of port area (haha). will the hifonics be enough to push the sub? i can go bigger on the box to let it use the power a bit more efficiently, but whats your guys' opinions on this? anyone w/experience as to exactly how much power the hifonics is capable of putting out?
  19. one slot port...~25 sq in. (2.5"x12")
  20. i was wondering how big the port should be to tune your 4 cu ft recommended box for the D2 15 to 28hz and how long should the port be?
