  1. It isn't twice as dense.
  2. There is no other way to cause a surround failure like that besides over excursion. The audio gods didn't smite your Q.
  3. The subwoofer should not be playing above 80 Hz. Your right that's what midbass is for. You don't seem like a Q buyer though, as the Q isn't made for loud it is designed for quality. You want to be louder than your friend with twice the cone area you have, go with a BL as it would be louder than the Q.
  4. Same with me, I plan on getting in on the group buy!
  5. Why? There is no way around it, the mechanical power handling of a woofer decreases in a larger enclosure. That's they efficiency increases too, it will take less power to reach the same xmax.
  6. My ass did a 184.9 yesterday.
  7. All Sundown amplifiers are very under rated, and built to last. Expect upwards of 125 watts from the 100.4 per channel at 4 ohms. They are made in Korea. Don't let that deter you though, there are VERY few amplifiers still made here, even then they use components form overseas and are just assembled here.
  8. Welcome to SSA!
  9. It sounds like the tinsel leas that connects to the terminal came off, it came off somehow so soldering it back on won't help because it's obviously not long enough. Normally if you run into that problem your pushing the woofer too hard.

Pants are said to be a pair because long ago, in a galaxy far, far away... oh shit wrong story. They are a pair because long ago they were in two pieces, one for each leg, and put on separately and tied and/or belted together. Once they were sewn together into one piece the term had already stuck
  11. so what you trying to tell him is if there are 6billion ppl on the Earth only about 60,000 people actualy need one of these inventions? lol! i like Less ppl then that need them lol! 6 billion people aren't into car audio though.
  12. Who the hell voted this post down? While the poster supplied the answer to the OP's question he also helped the OP with grammar.
  13. MDF is NOT acuostically dead, Just better than some of the alternatives. Please explain more.
  14. I'll do one more suited for mobile audio for you
  15. RMS is only rated power handling in watts, while the BTL would get louder than only one SSD, with two it's not fair anymore.
  16. MDF stands for medium density fiberboard, HDF is high density. MDF royaly fucks your tools when you cut it, HDF is much worse. I'd stick with MDF, Birch, or Trupan Light. Don't worry about the sounds waves reflecting, MDF is already dead and reflective.
  17. That's where Jacob comes to play. Your not left out on your one if one of Jacob's amps fail. You do realize that if all the amps were built here they would be about twice the price, with the SAME level of quality and components, the only thing that changes is American hands piecing the amp together vs. Chinese hands. China does it for muh cheaper because they don't have minimum wage laws.
  18. More cone area, more motor force, more heat dissipation, etc.
  19. They are build in China to Jacob's specifications, just like the SAZ series is built in Korea to Jacob's specifications.

You have a happy birthday thread on CLZZ too
  21. Don't forget it was also the weekend. The world doesn't run on your schedule.
  22. Thanks for the support Brian I hate the port area rule of thumb. It's just a way for people to try to skip the math, and it doesn't work.

I'm confounded by that logic. Lets make a different example (same physics). Go outside and fill a sled with wood and try to push the sled, what happen's? Now pull on the same sled, what happens? I think it has NOTHING to do with different muscles, Just the fact that the force is being applied in the most effective place. That depends on where your pushing it form as well. Did you push from the top of the wood pile? From the base of the sled? Oh when you pulled it did you use a rope and lift up on the front? Or did you keep it level with ther ground? What id your 750 lb. grandma is in the sled too??
