  1. yes they do Then you can't do active. Unless you cut the crossover out. Right. If you hook them up to your amp that would be passive. In order to do active you remove the crossover and hook up each speaker to a separate channel. You can only have 4 speakers with that amp. Head Unit --> Crossover --> Amplifier --> Speakers per speaker correct? You won't need an external crossover with that amp, it has all the needed crossover settings built in.

  3. The simple thing to do is make your enclosure slightly smaller than your trunk opening and make up for it in depth.
  4. Do your components have a crossover?

lets try somwhere around 32-33hz and the hieght is what ever you need as long as its not more the 16w and 38 long to be safe If you want lows tune below 30 Hz.
  6. I disagree, I wouldn't take it as far as saying one particular one is bad, but one of them might be superior in this application.
  7. The SAZ-3500D would be more than enough for you.
  8. Yes the 100.4 on the midrange ant tweeters and a 125.2 on the midbass, the crossover board is explained here: http://www.sundownaudio.com/index.php/products/amplifiers/sax-1004d.html As far as the testing, Jacob is very honest, he has no need to lie to make his product look better because it's already phenomenal. Also, he has spent a long time perfecting his products, the latest 100.4 is the fourth version he's made as he constantly improves them.
  9. For active you want crossover flexibility, since this is a predominately Sundown forum, I'm gonna shove Jacob's products down your throat Look at the SAX-100.4 Version D, it is the same amp that powers my front stage, and I couldn't be more impressed. The crossovers on the amp are PHENOMAL and you would not need an external crossoverboard built in. Another member on here, bassaholic, switched form a Kicker 900.4 on his front stage to a SAX-100.4 and said it was not only cleaner but louder. Keep that in mind, the top of the line 900 watt amplifier made my Kicker outdone by an underground 400 watt amplifier. Of course that will only handle a 2 way active front stage, thats why Jacob make the SAX-125.2.

  11. There is no forum search that I know of that will give results from two characters. So true Aaron, teach him the ways of the forum!

    Princess Amidala!
  13. The L7 is worthless in my opinion. It's just a paperweight. The Fi is in a different league, for that reason you shouldn't even consider the L7, and considering the Q is meant for sound quality, not loudness, you should choose the BL or BTL.
  14. You are correct, normally class D amplifiers have "better" heatsinks. Also, Adrian, a member on this forum is in Europe in Transylvania I believe and he repairs amps, and he's very good. Active means every speaker get's it's own channel and it's own crossover network devoted to just that speaker, the result is more volume and sound quality because the speakers aren't being forced to play something they weren't made for.

I figured, but they got a hold of it somehow right?
  16. Where did he plug the RCA's into?
  17. Seriously! Jacob would you take trades on a 3000D with the new casing towards a 3500D?
  18. Shin splints occur from the stretching of the interosseous membrane, the membrane that connects the tibia and fibula of the lower leg. Compression taping in most cases will remove shin splints for that workout period, massage before and after will stimulate circulation and promote healing of the membrane. Another thing to do is concentrate on your form, meaning stop running on your heels and run on yor toes, almost as if your falling, that will make you faster as well

I played with an actual working Droid today...yup, I'm in love!
  20. A lot of it comes from experience, simply if you hear mechanical stress, or smell burning, other than the glue heating up for the first time that's a sign to turn it down. If you correctly set your gains and filters that will make thermal failure less likely, and if you build the correct enclosure that will make mechanical failure less likely. i hear u on that one? what would be the perfect enclosure for those? size of port holes or does it matter? Yes port area matters. 3.0-3.5 Ft3 per Nightshade is recommended, a general rule is 14-16 In2 per Ft3 of airspace. thank you man, ill stop asking questions now.lol hey whats up. got one more quick question for u when u get a chance. we were talking my 2 nightshade 15's and we were saying that if i was smart about it i could run a 4500d aslong as i set my gain and filters right. my question is how would u set the gain and filters so that you wouldnt cook the amp off or have any other mechanical problems, my 15's are 1-ohm so the amp would be 1-ohm? write back when you get a chance. thanks , kevin You have two dual 1 ohm woofers, wire them to a combined 1 ohm load like this: http://www.the12volt.com/12voltimages/2_1ohm_dvc_1ohm.gif and your set. You will need a digital multimeter to set your gain correctly, you match the amplifier gain to the head unit gain. You set your subsonic filter about 3 Hz. below your enclosure tuning and your low pass filter a few Hz. where your midbass cuts off.

Is it possible to tool a LMS style 22" basket? The S.M.D. basket? Sure...but it becomes a return on investment issue... You are looking at a ballpark of $50,000 for a die cast tooling like that...if not more. Allocate that..over a period of time..and we've got to sell 250,000 of those or so for it to make economical sense. I've got other solutions to the problem to keep the cost down to the end guy, but doing something of that nature does not make sense from a financial standpoint. We'll do what makes the most financial sense to do, having something like that stuck on the balance sheet throwing things off that do not return as fast as other things simply does not make sense at this point and time. It's really difficult to tool a new asskicking sub huh? Hahaha Incrimminator managed to tool a 21" that they have has success with, I'm sure you and Scott can manage

I'm sorry Nick, and OP, I didn't realize they were different, if one was larger I figured the copper would be not the flatwound coil. Oh well
