  1. Hey guys first off sorry about the MIA but back now and the build is complete! (for now).. Picked up the box today and just screwed the sub in with T nuts wired it in and was ready to go. Unfortunately I rushed and pierced the surround when screwing in the last screw but it is a small whole and I have not noticed any defects or air passing. Should I seal it with something, get it fixed, or is it something to not worry at all about? I will upload a bunch more pics and a video tomorrow but for now I will just show you guys 2 spoiler pics. Sounds absolutly great right now and really balanced. Going to be downloading music all night ofcourse
  2. Thanks Mike Got some deadening done today. Only got one door done though and didn't take enough pics so I'll just leave you with one spoiler pic for now. When I do the other door ill make sure to take a bunch of more pictures and leave a better update. For now...
  3. Video doesn't show much but you can see slight movement. Its on my build log
  4. First video for the log. Nothing special... Couple pictures of the new sub next to the Dayton 6" and my SDS deadening products. One small sheet of MLV/CCF will be enough for the two front doors with about 8"x34" extra to add in the trunk.
  5. Bargain route = PAC More functions = LC2i Some people complain about drop off when you turn the volume up while using a cheap LOC. This means the volume level on your sub will not be gaining as much as the volume level on the speakers when you turn up the volume. I've never experienced this though because I just went strait for the LC2i. I've heard PAC does pretty good with there LOC though.
  6. Problem fixed. I was wiring the sub out of phase. Following the 12volt diagrams too literal didn't help. After talking to Nick he set me strait and got them moving. I'll update the log tomorrow with a sample video
  7. Thanks Joker. I'm going to try it out in the morning when I have more time to take off panels and such. I'll update the logs after.
  8. K got the DMM but not entirely sure where to start... I don't have a program or anything to play a single tone just music off my ipod or cd's. One thing to keep in mind is I can't get to the LC2i very easily. If I wanted to disconnect anything or test spots at the LOC I would have to take off the back panel which is not very fun.
  9. About to grab a DMM from Ace. I'll see what we can figure out after that.
  10. Hey guys I just plugged in my Fi Q 12d2 to my sundown SAX-1200(refurbished by db-r) to test and make sure everything is working properly. I have a Audiocontrol LC2i to signal the sundowns RCA to the speaker level wiring of my factory sub to the factory amp. I'm 90% sure I have all the wiring done correctly. The sundown amp remote on is ran from the LC2i output. The sundown amp light turns on when I turn on the car so I'm pretty sure the GTO on the LC2i is working properly. I wired it parallel testing out low volume with the sub just sitting on its magnet and get no sound/vibration. Ill be in the chat room if you guys want to ask questions so I can give you fastest response. Thanks for the help. Trevor
  11. Getting two shipments in tomorrow from UPS. Think you might be able to guess the second one?
  12. You can always go crazy with the butyl rope..
  13. Looks good man you should make a video with some music playing. Box came out good especially for your first one.
  14. Nice man I'll check it out and sub.
  15. oh nice. that is pretty good. did u pay for it in total or just put a lot down to get a low monthly payment? getting it financed with bad credit after trading in the jeep. Paying monthy
  16. I got a fairly good price for it imo. I traded in a 07 Jeep Wrangler for it but the Audi itself with 25k miles on it was $24,500. Every now and then you can find some great deals.
  17. Yeah factory amp is powering all the front stage speakers. It gives them about 20w each but it gets decently loud. I'm excited to see what these 6" can do.
  18. They Dayton 6" woofers came in today! Took a few pics. Cant install them for about a week so they are just going to sit and tease me.
  19. Looks amazing Sundownz! Any clue what we can expect these to go for? I'm definitely interested in picking one up..
  20. Yo Don I've been trying to get ahold of you for a while too. If you can search for my email as well you should have at least 2 from me. I can't get started with installing my speakers till I get some deadener. [email protected] Thanks a lot man.
  21. Yes the A4 does have a center. But it still takes some modification to get the Dayton 3" to squeeze in nicely. Got quite a bit done once my speakers came in. I replaced all the dash speakers which are definitely the hardest to work on with the window being so close. Took a total of 5 hardware stops before I had everything I needed to complete the job. I replaced my center speaker with a Dayton 3" full range woofer and changed the two tweeters with the Vifa dual ring tweeters. For the tweeters I added about a foot of extra wire for if I decide to place the tweeters in the A-pillars later on. I fabricated speaker mounts out of a vinyl tile I got at home depot. The material actually worked out really well cause I had a wooden looking top for nice aesthetics while the bottom side was sticky so it wont budge at all when screwed in. For the center I had to modify the bottom under the speaker to get it to fit nicely. I also had to stack 3 layers of the vinyl tile to give it a little extra room. I made all the baffles by hand so it was tricky and took a while to get everything perfect. 60 grade sand paper helped me grind the center circle perfectly. Only got to listen to it for about 1 minute but it already blew my socks off. It sounded so much more natural and clean and im pretty sure It got even louder than the factory speakers. I have to test it out for a longer period of time and see how the factory amp responds. So far I'm very happy with the results. The Dayton 6" woofers don't come in till thursday but I wont be able to install those till I get my deadening material from SDS. Here they are :fro: Going to be running a sharpee over the silver screws. At the right angle and right light you can see them shine through. Easy fix though
  22. First of the parts express packages came today . Includes the Vifa tweeters and Dayton 3" full range I will be using as center. Going to install later tonight once I get some connectors for the speakers.

Exactly what I was thinking.... Ive owned a BL 18 and I know that the Q is the right choice for me... Thread seems pretty bias imo...
