I think i can shed some light on this. Back back back in the day i had a jbl 1200, i got an 10$ANL fuse holder and i swear every couple months it would melt and i would have to get a new one. Mind you this was wire going into plastic piece being held down by a bolt. The audio store kept trying to get me to buy the exspensive one but i was determined to make my own lol. Now adays ring terminals and better still 10$ fuse holders actually eliminate that problem, but i have had that happen to me in the past.

kinda of HU do you have? RCA's might have low voltage or you might have something set wrong. I never use the bass boost on my amps, just set the gains and use the HU's bass settings to compensate'somewhat'

Well i=e/r i=current e=voltage r=resistance v and i are your friend and want alot of them v is like your mom you can only take so much of her....or until you get to like 15 volts, but you dont need to worry about that I is like your best GF and you want as much of them as you can get. resistance is like her hater friends that get in the way of you two being together the less of them the better. resistance is stopping the full potential of your alt or battery from reaching its destination typically. So the more runs you have the less resistance and more current you will get to your amp. I think people usually use slot ports because they can have more port area[ie. a 40x12 port] and it is easily adjusted if necessary. An aero port however is a different beast because your stuck with the same diameter and can only change the length.
